I'll vote Abbabubba, but it's too late to save Petit Fours, isn't it? this forum doesn't truly appreciate synthpop.

It's certainly getting a little tougher, but I cannot vote Golem off before One More Road for the Hit. Bad News and Astaroth are rocking tunes, and even though I'm a Humboldt man, I've got to let it go.
The only other one I would have considered is Abbabubba, but I've explained why I love that weird album so much.
Of Golem, Abbabubba, and One More Road for the Hit, it's One More Road for the Hit that I'm voting off at this point.
And actually, now that I think of it, I would be voting off Indie Cindy before Golem or Abbabubba too. Maybe even Head Carrier too. |

Seeing as it's looking like The Golem v One More Road...this round I have to vote off one more road.
There's no album that has an atmosphere quite like The Golem. So many brooding epic songs. Stars, You're Gonna Pay, Miriam and Florian, Meet me at the Ghetto Gates, The Obedient Servant, Bad News, Makanujo, Maharal...all of it really. Only the Conjuring I can do without. It's a classic example of a Frank album not immediately grabbing my attention but many years on it reveals its layers.
The musicianship of the Golem band goes into that Tom Waits / Nick Cave territory. Duane Jarvis guitar work along with Ralph Carney plus EDF just works, understated almost medieval or otherworldly. Not forgetting Joe Pope from Angst on bass. It's such a shame that Jarvis and Carney are no longer with us, they were great musicians.
The Golem is definitely in my top 5.

Score update
Road - 4
Golem - 2
I get that parts of the Golem can seem tedious, but a "concept album" like that coupled with the fact that it's got a bunch of killers on it? Very cool

I am also going for Golem. I have tried many times over the years but it just does not grab me except for a couple of songs. Whereas One More Road is full of banging ditties. In fact I prefer One More Road to Pistelero, COR and Honeycomb. And Golem. Sorry Golem. |

I will go with Honeycomb. OMRFTH has a lot of the same songs as SSMVGD and I wanted that to hang around a bit longer.
Funny how tastes within the same ARTIST can vary so wildly. Pistolero and COR are two of my faves and the Golem is awesome.
I may change my mind to save Golem, I would much rather see Honeycomb go before either, though.

Nothing like a game of survivor to delineate exactly how different our tastes are on one forum.
Preferring One Road over CoR sounds incomprehensible to me, but no judgment.
Current score is:
Road - 4
Golem - 3
Honeycomb - 1

The Golem is amazing, can't believe what I'm reading - I can feel the antlers ripping through my skull. It's top 10 material. Get rid of One More Road please.

One More Road For the Hit - 5
The Golem - 3
Honeycomb - 1
For those who really want to save One More Road or Golem, we could all swing our votes to Honeycomb.
I'm kinda surprised Honeycomb has made it this far (I love it but have to be in the mood for it) |

TBH at this stage most of my votes are purely random, I can't really say what my favourites are between most of BF's catalogue unless we're talking about 1.0, 2.0 or the bluefinger era. All the Catholics and TOTY stuff was mostly listened to me on my iPod when I was working in a metal work factory in Holland years ago. |

I am happy to switch my vote to Honeycomb. While I am neutral on Golem I am negative on Honeycomb. |

Wow, surely Honeycomb can't go so early! It's fantastic! I'll vote One More Road, even though it hurts me to do so. |

some of my favorite FB songs are on One More Road but they can be found elsewhere (best as EPs). On the other hand Golem is so cool and unique. I remember really geeking out about it in all it's limited numbered editionness. I bought two (smh)

Welcome to Round 7
One More Road for the Hit has (say it with me) hit the road.
I'm going to go ahead and start off the voting with a ballot cast for Honeycomb.
That's not an easy vote for me. Even though Honeycomb can be challenging it's a really special album to me. It was my first FB album after a bit of a hiatus, and I was like, "wow man, you've changed and so have I." I really enjoyed a lot of it at the time, but I don't listen to much of it now I must admit.

Are you compiling an order of road hitting?
My vote for this round goes back to Abbabubba, a surprisingly still there album that in real life I would probably delete if I owned. |

Hard to decide between NSE and Abbabubba
Really love Honeycomb, so my tactical vote is Abbabubba

You've got to love NSE for it's what the fuck now kind of thingaboutness?
It can only be the first to go from the Bluefinger era.
For the life of me I can't understand why they just didn't go with Carter studios for the rest? Let's face it it's the hidden Pixies 2.0 era. |
