Honeycomb is brilliant imo, and IC is vastly superior in every way except the final mastering. Oddballs is nifty at times, but it is exactly what it is - stuff that didn’t make the cut. Cleaning out the fridge after the leftovers from a few good meals start piling up and aging. IC on the other hand is what it is - a very focused, give-it-all-you-got effort by the man. It’s not perfect by any means, but it smokes Oddballs like a bad cigar!

I think I would rather listen to Announcement, Man of Steel, and You Never Heard About Me 3x in a row each, for a total of 12 spins, then listen to the 12 songs on IC.
And of course I love the man and everything he does, so it really isn't easy to say that.
But I accept that Oddballs will probably go next. Just surprised at how long Honeycomb (which I also love but have to be in the mood for) will outlast other albums. |

Listening to NSE for the first time in a while and the combo of When I Go Down on You/Nonstoperotik is making it a pretty strong contender for my vote.
Will give it some more thought. |

Like Oddballs, I can think of several albums I would jettison before NSE, such as Indie Cindy, Honeycomb, Show Me Your Tears, etc.
But I get that many consider NSE to be.... challenging. |

I'm going to go with Oddballs, even though I don't think I've actually listened to that one yet: a tactical move to potentially give IC another shot at the bucket and maybe save NSE for another week. |

I popped it on again after the last weeks discussions... my opinion is unchanged. Nothing wrong with it really, it’s just, well, leftovers. It seems clear why these tracks didn’t didn’t find a home on the proper “albums.” Not good enough to make the first cut, but not weak enough to leave in the vault.

Neither album is his best, but at least you can hear NSE clearly.
And NSE has EDF, so that is a definite plus.
Cindy does have the best 2.0 song so far though, IMHO. |
