so is this the voting started? erm, well, can I vote for 2? i really like both 'the mother lode' and 'talkin sweet bout nothing' if i had to choose one it would probably be mother lode.
oh and i plugged in amp and distortion pedal yesterday to put some more guitar down on i'm amazed, sounds quite good, quite different to the lead of the original, more because i've played the notes differently, a bit 'madder' i think. still muchos to do though! |

Send me an email and we can discuss it. My internet connection at home as chosen this particular time to die completely and utterly, which really couldn't be less convenient. There are other ways of getting that song to me in the meantime, though, so just email me.

The voting has indeed started and I'm torn between narrowing the vote down to make it more likely that people won't just vote for their own or really split up the vote, but I'm going to see how it goes with people just choosing first.

i think you'll have to narrow it down officially, and soon to be honest. if 'shore' isnt available, my vote goes to 'as loud as hell'. if thats not on the *list* then i vote 'talkin' sweet about nothin'.

I vote for HEY - A Pixies Tribute.
It's perfect. Short, sweet, simple and kinda funny. All the other ones get too clunky and sound too much like we're trying to be cute.

I won't vote yet. I might end up voting for the "Hey" one even though it's mine and that seems weird. But if I didn't like it I wouldn't have suggested it in the first place.
I have to agree with Adam that some of the others are trying too hard. But there are a couple golden ones.

And just something to think about for the "As Loud as Hell" one... it is pretty cool, but what if a majority of the songs end up being "As Soft as a Field of Flowers"?
"As Loud as Hell" would be great for a heavy metal tribute to the Pixies (or maybe I'm missing the point?)

i thought cubaser would be funny, a pun on debaser, obviously, as some people will be using cubase to record/mix their songs... erm, i'll leave now...

I have finished what will likely be my final version of "Planet of Sound"--in dropped B tuning (rawk on). I think it's respectable but would like to work on the vocals and lead guitar if I have time before the final deadline (very busy with a move). I tried sending the MP3 as an email attachment--didn't work. How do I go about submitting.

update on my song, getting stressed and obsessed! i think my girlfriend is starting to worry! we've pretty much done the song, but it sounds real dull, it hasn't got a clean sound. and i don't know why! it was all recorded straight into my pc, all digital... maybe i've put too much reverb on tracks and stuff? i just don't know! but probably going to re-record everything now! not happy with the drums either, done in fruity loop, but they still sound too tinny! if anyone has any ideas, or would like to hear the very dull demo we've done so far to give opinions, please let me know! i'm losing hair over this!!! 
(not that it hasn't been great fun! i just want this to be our best possible effort on the song, as it'll be the first song my band has actually recorded!) |

I actually tried sending the song as a test to myself and a couple of friends. Despite numerous attempts, it did not go through. The email was constantly in the process of being sent and sat in my outbox for days. This may be a problem with my local ISP, I don't know. Not being terribly computer savvy, I'm not sure if a large file like an MP3 can be sent by email. Anyhow, I can always send a CD-RW the old fashioned way. |
