I would be more upset if I didn't have a majority of the songs already. I only need 3. Though I haven't paid for ALL these songs, I don't feel bad because I buy every Frank Black album and have seen him live twice and bought 2 t-shirts. Ok so maybe that's cheating....
But if I'm going to buy all these songs which I already have, I want them CD quality and I want artwork. Otherwise I'd rather just take out Charles for dinner to pay for these songs. |

OK, here's the Official FrankBlack.net Word(tm):
The new b-sides collection available on iTunes was put there by Tunecore (http://www.tunecore.com), a new service that's just gone online. Its goal is to help artists who otherwise can't get on iTunes (i.e. without a label) to access the service, and they asked Frank Black to be the first to use it. Obviously, Frank has no problem getting his stuff on iTunes, but he wanted to support the initiative and was asked to do so, and so voila. An iTunes release. By having Frank Black be the first to use Tunecore, it gives them some credibility and he was happy to be involved.
As for a physical release, nothing is planned at the moment, but they should find their way onto CD sooner or later - perhaps as a bonus in the box set. Regarding which, quoth the raven, "At this point, your guess is as good as mine."

Seems fairly decent to me. Tunecore, incidentally, is owned by Jeff Price (of SpinArt fame) so fairly reputable on its own and I imagine their dedication to helping indie bands is real. Looks like the boxset is in limbo as opposed to cancelled, from what I hear they have some more never-before released stuff (i.e. more rare than some of these b-sides) should that come to pass. No word on the origins of the two never-before-heard-of tracks, but I imagine any boxset would contain quite a few more like them should that come to pass.
So despair not! News to be posted later tonight.
