Dean is secretly a huge Linda Richman fan, and hosts "Coffee Talk" style shows in his bedroom in front of the mirror. Full costume. It would be really hilarious if it weren't so sad. Makes me a little veklemped (does anyone know yiddish? how do you spell that word?). Kudos to Dean for tying into his non-sensical, babbbling email, something that relates directly to the actaul topic of the thread. Impressive!
And Pioneer, the song in question is nothing more than a novelty, but it's really only novel if you're from Saskatoon. Otherwise it's a fairly typical Guess Who type song, in the vein of "TCB" or some other similar mini-van driving, weekend bar-b-q, soccer dad vision of "rock and/or roll". But enough disparaging the Guess Who, Dean is frothing on the dark side of his moon over it, I'm sure. And yes, we are a little choked he wrote a song called Manitoba and not about our fair province, but "up, in Saskatchewan, the sky was very blue" doesn't quite roll off the tongue as well. And the title itself would consume a majority of the album packaging. It'll never fit on a marquee, love. We're chaning it to "Apu DeBeaumarche". |

Why don't you lead the way?
And my "coffe" talk show has recently been making giant strides into the mid morning untelevised unaired markets, recently having discovered that my keyboard can generate applause. Sure, my jokes pan for now, but wait until I get a laugh track. |

totally, what's that Manitoba thing all about. A great song, but ever met anyone from Manitoba? Not a sharp bunch. I have heard people remark that we should change the Newfie jokes to be about people from Manitoba. |

We should go, AT MINIMUM, that far. To fully give evil Manitobians what they deserve, we should storm Winnipeg and take over the Forks and bring it to Saskatoon (Capital of Europe). Oh wait, they're already doing that. Oh well, just remember, it was my suggestion.
PS I realize all of the above makes no sense to anyone, excpet myself and possibly Dean. The Forks are downtown Winnipeg's riverfront development, and we are trying to develop some river front downtown space in Saskatoon. Everyone wants "the Forks", as our vision and creativity is limited to what the next closest city with something similar is doing. |

Hey, you two are not the only people who know about the forks. My big plan is to go steal the Kremlin and bring it back to Vegreville, maybe you've heard of the big easter egg. |

Psyanka, no? Respect to the Vegreville! Of course, I've never actually stopped there on my way to E-town, but I always think about it... Alright, I don't actually think about stopping either. The point is I read the sign. Gimme props. |

Props given. Next time you come to Edmonton you can see the world's biggest baseball bat they just put up here. What is the deal with Canadians? We always gotta have the biggest stuff. What other biggest stuff can you think of? |

Your last sentence is ripe for the plucking, but I'll take the mature route. I think there's a largest tea kettle somewhere in Saskatchewan. I know there's more, a lot of the small towns here have such eyesores. I'm always in Edmonton, my sister lives there, so next time I'm in town I will seek out the large baseball bat. Where is it exactly? |

The stupid thing is its not even at our baseball park, I think its on 97st and oh I don't know Kingsway Ave or around 101 Ave. Its pretty stupid, not really worth seeing. Is West Edmonton Mall still the biggest mall or did that one in Minnesota beat it? |

As far as I know, West Ed still rules the school, though I have heard that the Mall of America is planning an expansion which would make it the biggest. How long did it take downtown Edmonton to semi-recover from the construction of West Ed? 15 years? Oh ya, huge malls are definately the way to go....
And why do you have a giant baseball bat near downtown, but not at the baseball park? Ah, the Trappers... |

Don't ask me why they didn't put it at the park. Our downtown still hasn't recovered because we have all these bozos that go to whyte ave, they've totally ruined it though, its all mainstream on whyte now. Didn't you here about our Canada day riot? They had it in the river valley which is right by whyte ave and they had beer tents so when it was over they moved to whyte and then rioted. Its all the talk in our papers b/c canada day is coming up, the cops hear are like on defcom4. |

No, I don't remember the whyte ave riots. Man, whyte ave. is cool, but it could be a lot cooler. Some of the things there just do not belong. Like, the Roxy, par example. If you want a taste of what Whyte Ave could be and most likely once was, come to Saskatoon and check out Broadway Ave. Although, our favourite little street is being turned into Whyte Ave too. Subway is moving in, the decline is begining. |

I submit that Pioneer has delivered this year's best witticism. Anyone who can qoute Ferris Bueller in context is okay in my books. Mr. Rooney......... ED. You're a beautiful man. I have not skated at West Ed, but I've watched skaters there. It's a lot less interesting that it sounds. And I feel your pain on the young 'uns Pioneer. Everyday it gets more painfull to watch a really good looking girl and then slowing come to the realization she probably developed those breats earlier that day. |

Unlike Speedy M, I have actually stopped there a few times, though I don't usually admit to it. Did you know there's a small town in Washington that claims to have the world's biggest easter egg? We had to lay down the truth upon them. There should be a law against such things. |

Oh, and while we're on the topic of big things in Canada, and as Speedy M suggested, keeping some level of maturity and not bringing up the aforementioned 16-year olds nor myself, how about the CN tower being the tallest freestanding structure in the world. |

I often wondered how Dean amassed so many posts in such a short time. Do you ever think anything you DON'T say? I should have split this post up into about 17 emails. Then I would soon be on my way to Kingly status. Or, at least, Teenager of the Year. |

See, the point is that splitting that up into multiple posts facilitated a joke in which I made the same point you just made. Except mine was funny. <ba-ZING> Having become the Black Noise Maker, these pitiful rankings you speak of no longer mean any... ooh, I have THREE stars!? |

I recommend using it on the women (/girls) as I have suggested. Well, except there is a law against the /girls... apparently. Stupid cops.
Using "there should be a law against it" is what got me where I am today. Future ruler of Europe. Write that down.
Seriously, the technique is amazing, you do something and then turn the focus to the government, all the while agreeing that there SHOULD be a law against what you just did. And who doesn't hate the government in one way or another. It's like chatting about the weather, except that it hasn't become cliched to death. I recommend using it on the police officers as well, especially when you are caught breaking the law (speeding, etc). And try to do it as deadpan as possible. Kind of like saying, "Wow, what a great deal" when you buy popcorn and a drink at the theatres. Which, by the way, is ridiculously overpriced, and no one is more aware of this than the people selling it, but I bet they never hear someone 'sincerely' deliver that line. If you're part of the machine, you're part of the problem.
Whew. How many topics did I cover in that paragraph. As many as possible. We should really rename this thread. Maybe something along the lines of: Living Life In One Easy Line: How to Soothe The Festering Boil That Is Your Life Before It Blows Up In Your Face And Makes A Big Disgusting Mess And Part Of It Goes Down Your Throat And Everything. It could even 'win' a grammy for longest title. |
