I know this is all personal opinion and everything but I was shocked to see 'Manta Ray', one of my all time favourite Pixies songs, and the one I play to try and convert my friends. As for this topic, I seriously dislike Silver, and Make believe dosen't really do anything for me either.

Manta Ray really gets trashed, even by Frank... I don't get why, I like it. It may not be the most inventive song, but... |

Manta Ray is a pure joy...how could anyone be down on it?
Make Believe is lacking in terms of singing/lyrics, in my opinion. But I love the guitar riffs in that song...especially the bridge. its got a nice raw punk edge to it.

Man or Astroman kick a great deal of ass. They also do an awesome cover of Dick Dale's "Surf Taco." I would love to see those fellas live...I heard they wear space-suits and have a u.f.o. on stage and stuff. Awesome.
I'm going to have to seek out that cover...do you know what album/release its on? or is it just one of those free-floating mp3s? |

Oh, don't miss Man or Astroman if you have the chance to see them. Last time they came to Milwaukee they indeed wore their space suits (with alien faces underneath), and played for what seemed like 2 hours straight.... |

It is hard to find a least favorite...but when my CD gets to DIG FOR FIRE, I usually find myself skipping right over that track. ME DO NOT LIKE THEE dig for fire AT ALL. There is something wrong with that song. Reminds me of a Big Stick Popsicle. Couldn't tell you why. Any Freudian theories there? |

I really don't like Bailey's walk. I try to skip it, but yeah, I really don't mind, but it is not my favorite track.
now Into the white, Stormy Weather, Havilana, Silver are awesome songs to me. :)
peace, love and rock on, nadia

i always thought bailey's walk was top dog. that whole ep was brilliant. yeah, that debbie gee song was a bit lame. bossanova and trompe are pixies albums that i am more likely to skip tracks on. played trompe last night and only listened to four tracks. i guess i just chose the wrong album. LOL.

Yeah, Trompe le monde has the least typical Pixie-songs. I don't like Navajo know. To much synth, don't like the subject and the melody is rather weak. I love Space(I believe in) though. |

I LOVE Navajo Know. But then, I like the synthy stuff. Also, the melody it wonderfull, and you are simpleton. I mean that in the best way possible, good sir.
I do love Space, I like how the lyrics describe the use of the tabla and the man who plays 'em (I assume). He's so spacious! |

i've really got into frank/pixies synthy stuff now and fully appreciate them. and the navajo know is such a sexy song in a way, with joey's little laid back noodling and kim's 'ooh's. space is one of my favourite pixies songs, its so...well, spacious!

I have never skipped a Pixies song because I love them all. Each has something that tickles me some how. Even "Make Believe" to me is a great song. Cheesy, sure, but that's what makes it cool. When I listen to the Pixies or FB&theC's, I HAVE to listen to the whole cd (unless I have to leave my home). To me, what makes the Pixies (and ultimately, Frank) so great is the fact that there is no single song that he has written that I can say I do not like. I even like "Silver" for Christ's sake (although it is not the most amazing song they ever did). That is the reason I have such a hard time liking different bands, because I think, "that song is alright, but they have 5 more to that one that suck ass!". I've gotta compare em' to the best, and so far the only guy I have found that stacks up is Mr. Labonne. Every song has it's own brilliance about it, so I never have to worry about skipping a song (wich would suck, because they're all tapes). Maybe I'm not looking hard enough?

Just because the Pixies are your favorite band, you have got to be critical. It's a form of respect. (what a load of crap)

I think he's referring to the end of the song where he keeps on screaming 'all right'(ironically enough. |

It seems the general concensis[!] is that 'Silver' is the least 'liked', followed closely by 'Stormy weather'.Still very 'good' compared to todays pedophillic pop! |

I LIKE silver!!! It may be their strangest song ever. It's a dirge of tarnished dreams. And its the perfect denoument for DOOLITTLE. I still hold Dig For Fire as reigning champ for worst song. And Stormy Weather slides in at close second. Lucky number three would in my opinion have to be Down To The Well. Poor poor Bossanova! I love it tremendously, and yet it holds all my hatred simultaneously!

Man! I think stormy weather is a great song. I just love the tempo change in the middle of the song. How many bands do that? I'll tell ya: none. They're too chicken. The song is slow on purpose. It emphasizes the cry for action. That's why it's a great song.

Bossanova happens to be my favorite Pixies album! I like the fact that it is kind of a middle child in the pixies album collection. More produced than most before it, not as produced as Tromp (which doesn't mean I don't like those albums). The way all of the songs lead into each other is great, and yeah, Stormy Weather is an awesome song for the reasons mentioned above. Plus, all he says is "It is time for stormy weather.", and what bands have the balls to say the same line throughout a whole entire song? Only the Pixies. Great songs, great albums, great band,...what the hell am I doing in this thread?!

i don't understand why so many dislike "bird dreams". i feel trompe le monde is their best album, every song on it is fantastic. even the jesus&mary chain cover fits perfectly.
i also dislike silver, but i can't say that there is a really crappy pixies song... |

I agree, In an interview with Black Francis after they completed Doolittle he said that a song was right when the ritme felt like driving. The highway is absolutely the best place to listen to the Pixies.
