yea i actually heard it was around 1 percent. And i believe the reason that their are no programs getting more male teachers into the class room is because well their males. If it was the opposite their would be protests people screaming inequality from parlament hill. Its sort of like the women who mowed down up her husband with a gun and got dittaly squat for a punishement. I forget her name and what she said her reason was, but its a pretty big canadian story which im sure your familiar with. It's gender inequality at its finest, and when its inequality against a male no one gives a shit. |

You get a gold star for using "their" incorrectly in two different ways in the same sentence. Too many female teachers I suppose. |

Ahem.
Dumbass n. Vulgar Slang pl. Dumbasses 1. One who can not "decipher" the proper meaning of words that sound alike. Example: "And i believe the reason that their are no programs getting more male teachers into the class room is because well their males." 2. One who is too lazy to spell out a three-letter word two-thirds of the time. Example: Do u have an opinion or are you here only to spell check for me u dumbass. Warning: Dumbasses may act hypocritical and insult other people.

Carolynanna, the survey is from Statistics Canada, but I think it is superfluous to the debate.
The main complaint I have heard is that people are not interested in having the government know what their sexual orientation is.

The debate that I was watching which inspired this thread took calls from people, one of which was a Rabbi who I believe was in support of gay marriage, talking about the Bible and what it says...He talked about having to go through the Bible with a fine toothed comb and pick out the line or two that talked about homosexuality versus the hundreds of lines which talk about loving your neighbor as yourself and treating others equally and such...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I guess I just wasn't made for these times.

I'd like to know what those lines were and who said them.

Not to mention Sodom and Gammorah...
I don't really think the story of Sodom and Gomorrah has anything to do with homosexuality being wrong. I mean, if you can read that story and think that the reason God destroyed those cities was that there were gay people there, well, either you're crazy, or God is. Yet the Religious Right seems to think the United States will become another Sodom if we allow gay marriage here. What, allowing gay marriage will lead to intended angel rape?
I think Paul was anti-gay, but I don't have any New Testament passages to back it up. Some people believe he was a repressed homosexual himself.

I'm not sure...but I think what he means is that the people who blame their bigotry on the Bible are blowing it way out of proportion. I haven't read the Bible in a long time...but I think that there were a couple of angels sent on a mission to Sodom and Gomorrah and they ended up getting raped by the men in Sodom. I guess some "Christians" believe that that's what's going to happen once gay marriage is legalized.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. I was just trying to point out how the situation in Sodom isn't exactly that similar to what's going on today, but homophobic "Christians" seem to think it's relevant for some reason.

Spell checking for you would be a full time job, but I do have many opinions, some dealing with your personality and others dealing with your apparent inability to complete a logically argument. But, I'll leave those aside and ask which situation do you think is better for a child: 1) foster care and no permanent parents or 2) 2 gay parents? You've argued that kids are better off with adults of both sexes in the house (and maybe on average you're right), but that's a false dicotomy since many kids would be lucky to have any parent. And, if gay adoption was prevented, even more kids would have no parents. |

I ask you now glacial do u have an opinion or are you just another idiot with nothing to say of relevence to this topic? If you do then post it and if not piss off.
And yes ive thought of that darvwin and the fact is we dont know they would be better off in gay families. And if you had that then you would have to figure out how long is too long of a wait for adoption. Do you or anyone else have any statistics for the amount of children needing homes and the waiting times etc in america or north america in general? |

Amazing what one can do with google and a couple minutes if one really wants an answer. On September 30, 2001 in the United States 126,000 kids were in foster care waiting to be adopted.

Very well put Hammer, Crouton, Vovat, and Darwin. Hammer, I think the US could learn alot from Canada. And actually there are a few churches here in the US that recognize and welcome gay couples, which I think is cool.
Just to echo... sexual orientation has nothing to do with how good a parent somone will be or how good or bad they will be at anything else for that matter. Some of my friends (gay couples) would make parents than heterosexual couples who are physically, mentally or sexually abusibe. Also there would spend more quality time with those kids than a Dual Income Heterosexual couple that's working all the time.
Gay couples also tend to be more affulent thant the general population. Although money has nothing to do with how good a parent is, it does help provide a more comfortable lifestye for the kids...(e.g. piano lessons and paying for college.) |

Didn't we recently discuss the idyllic and Utopian world of gay parenting? I remember because I was scolded at the mere suggestion that all gays were not perfect parents.

Darwin Darwin, Darwin...
When getting into an heated arguement it is important to be both gramattically correct and to spell things well. everyone knows dichodomy has an "aitch" in it. also, ...many kids would be lucky to have either parent or any parents. and, why did you precede argument with "logically" it should just be "logical", is that logical?

I don't know if anyone scolded you for that (I can't remember it having happened), but that would have been pretty dumb if it had happened. Obviously not all gays are perfect parents, but I fail to see how they'd be any worse, on average, than straight people. Sexual orientation has nothing at all to do with parenting skills, as far as I can tell.

You're an angry little homophobe motherfucker, aren't you? Instead of being gay you've got the bible shoved up your ass.
I think that there is not a thing about you that reflects anything remotely related to you being a religious person, and yet you use the bible to back up this one thing. (Your belief that gay people should not be married because it's the right of the church to tell people how they should live their lives.) If that's your only excuse then there are plenty of people out there who believe it doesn't hold water.
Y don't u go fuck yourself.

Yeah, well "sincerely" shouldn't have a period after it, it should have a comma. And there should be a semi-colon after "idiot" and "thanks" should be its own sentence. So there. |

My view is its up to everyone to take responsibility for their own happiness in this life.
And so long as its between two consenting adults who gives a shit what goes on behind closed doors?
I just wanted to chuck in that I voted for this online through a site Tanya Donelly recommended. (Anyone checked out www.moveon.org?)
The debates on her board have gotten so heated & venomous that the initial thread had to be locked.
