Pixies, live in Davis Ca 04-29-04. If you've never heard this band, I highly recommend them.

Don't forget that on the Fully Loaded edition, you get the full version of Sweet Jane with the omitted bridge. But I don't own it. Just have the original CD version. But it was cheaper. And I'm all about cheap, from the clothes I wear to the dates I take girls on. I'm not helping myself. I must shut up now.

Forgot to include that one on my list too.
KoK (haha, I just called you a cock... ok nevermind, not that funny) is it just me, or does the version of "Caribou" that we witnessed kick so much ass as to make a grown man cry? Especially that fourth "RE-PENT" before the guitar assault. I get chills every time.

I'm looking forward to that new Mclusky.
I've bought a few records which I've read about on this board recently. The best is Grant Lee Phillip's Virginia Creeper. British Sea Power I'm listening to right now, old news to most of you but a good record. It makes me long for my Psychedelic Furs records. Johnny Cash, a Greatest hits and American recordings. Some of it is very good, some of it I don't like.

The Pixies? The alt-rock band from the 80s? Alt rock is so passé. Currently, my fav artist is Beyonce.

Malax, the new Mclusky is very fine, oui? That Man Will Not Hang is the single, thats pretty ace, and they still have some wicked song titles: "forget about him i'm mint" springs to mind.
As it happens I didn't buy Franz Ferdinand, I got the Good The Bad & The Ugly on DVD instead. I stuck with the Who DVD though, thats ace.

What, GB&U? I got the new one thats just out. I haven't watched it yet, but I like the film muchly, so you can't go far wrong. I would definitely recommend the Who DVD to anyone though - its some classic stuff. If you're not that familiar with the band (like me), its a revelation. Seriously amazing live band. You have to check out the first scene - they end up trashing the stage, fair enought, but Keith Moon secretly packed his kick drum with extra explosives... Deeply hilarious.

Yep, completely deaf for twenty minutes afterwards, but not as bad as the big gash from a flying cymbal that Keith got!

AT LAST the first 50 Foot Wave mini-album has hit the stores (well, ONE store, and that's after harassing the clerks) in my neck o' the woods so that's what I bought today. Needless to say, it's powerful stuff.
It's the first new CD I've bought in ages. All the other things I got were oldish and mostly used (The Clash, Public Image, MC5, and, fairly more recent, Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros, although not the last one. Yes, that's me acting under the influence of the Clash biography I just read. I recommend it too, it's a great book).
I think I want to buy the Laura Veirs album too. The radio here plays "Rapture" (which you can download from lauraveirs.com) and I really think it's a lovely song.

not sure if i've already posted this, but i got the new jim white album, pretty cool... and will probably get the modest mouse new album next week... i've already downloaded it, but i'd like to have the real thing, especially as some of the tracks mix into each other, so don't sound quite right on my CDr...
can't think of anything else i want. might check out the new mclusky album, they're not bad in a pixies-rip-off kind of way. rest of music sucks ass at the moment. haha.

Suzanne Vega - Nine objects of desire I used to like her a lot when I was a kid (when she released "My book of dreams", "Lucas" and "Tom's diner"), then I forgot her. Now I'm rediscovering, and this album is really great!

I'm with you Adnan, I like that album too, although I think "99.9F°" is my favourite (have you heard that one?). I thought "Book of Dreams" was boring though.

I only know the song "99.9°F", and the song is fabulous. I will buy the album when I start working, I have to finance my holidays now.

Banyan - Anytime At All Dufus - 1:3:1 Wellwater Conspiracy - Wellwater Conspiracy
All three are flat-out incredible to my ears. I've been a Wellwater fan for years, but the others are new discoveries. Banyan is one of those rock 'n' roll all-star projects led by Stephen Perkins, though it was Mike Watt's involvement that got me interested. The Dufus CD is one of the most insane things I've heard in my life, and while it's definitely not for everyone, for the time being they win the Best New Band Sweepstakes in the court of my own opinion. That's all I can think of as far as recent purchases, but whomever it was asking after Hovercraft fans, you've found one in me. All I've got is the Vagus Nerve/De Orbit Burn single, and that's actually all I've even heard, but I like it enough to cast my support. It just seems that I never find anything else by the band.
Nothing is ever something. |

It wasn't purchased, but I got the new Mendoza Line album tother day. They're on Cooking Vinyl, so some of you may be familiar... I was expecting a kind of slightly dull folk-rock, but its actually pretty good stuff. Reminds me of mid-70's, Rolling Thunder era Dylan, with some Gram Parsons-y country rock and some Southern boogie. Not my cup of char at all usually, but its very high quality, and the songs are ace.
The other one was Devendra Banhart, Rejoicing In The Hands. This is a beautiful album, some amazing finger picking and really class songs.

I saw the Mendoza Line open for Neko Case on Sunday. I thought they were good musically, but not so hot vocally. I'm kind of curious to hear their cover of the Young Fresh Fellows' "Deep Down And In Between," though.

Wait a minute, I've got the receipt here somewhere...
Television-Marquee Moon (Remastered) Miles Davis-On the Corner AC/DC-Highway to Hell (Remastered) Pixies DVD Jeff Smith's Bone Book 4-The Dragon Slayer Guitar World magazine
Not all of these are albums, obviously, but that's what I bought. That damn DVD made me go the record store and spend way too much! I'd sue if I had any money left!
