"The room is quiet, except for sounds of clicking plastic and the occasional hushed instructions given to each new pair. TV crews and photographers are shooting away. The Lego aficionados, who all seem to know that the plural of Lego is Lego, no s, are unfazed by the attention. They are obsessing on their "love of the brick.""
This is from a story about Lego Master Builders who travel around building awesome works of art with Lego.

Hey apl I know you're thinking what I'm thinking.
I'm not thinking anything. Those pictures don't mean anything. They're fakes! I was brainwashed by a cult!

"I play with deer" "I play with Lego"
No, "Lego" doesn't sound right. Say, wasn't the war of 1812 started over impeded shipments of Legos?

Yes, but Andrew Jackson, or "Old Legory" as he was known down south, built a wall of Lego which prohibited the massive army of 1812ers from advncing so they left and the War of 1812 was over. |

I think you're getting the War of 1812 confused with the Boston Lego Party.

I liked modeling clay. Yes. Is that a toy?
I love clay figures. I have a personal fondness for clay animation and the artwork on album covers by the band Primus...clay was great.

Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!!! What a dumbass!!! I mean, if they listened to him then you wouldn't be able to make anything else after you first build, 'cos all the pices would be stuck together. Hehehehe!!! What a dumb kid. HEY EVERYONE!!! LAUGH AT THE DUMB KID!!! LAUGH AT STUPID ALEX!!! STUPID ALEX, STUPID ALEX!!! NER NER NE NER NERRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Now now, that isn't very nice. If I were Alex, I'd be crying.
Wait - does the smile indicate that it was a joke or that you generated great feelings of happiness from laughing at Alex?
On second thought, you are right - that was not the brightest question to ask. It does so as slight evidence that supports the idea that Alex does not think before he acts. |

Ahhh, I just found this thread and I love it :) For starters it's Lego, LEGO!!!! Do our American cousins call sheep 'sheeps' or geese 'geeses' or cattle 'cattles', I think not. And I bet you don't comlpain about these words sounding wrong. Anyway as for toys my favourites were my Ghostbusters fire station comlpete with Firemans Pole adequate parking for my ghostbuster mobile and a whole in the ceiling so you could gunge egon with ectoplasm. I also had this toy which was like a half destroyed statue of Liberty with a base in the head and it had this thing were you stuck cars down to the street outside it and then pressed this button and they would explode along with street lamps and stuff. I also loved my Moon Base which I first saw on Nickolodeon with a rocket that was on a lift which actually raised up and did a little countdown which was the epitomy of cool at the time. I really miss my toy days actually. Sigh.

Is it true that Americans pronounce Lego, Lay-go?

Yeah IceCream, I was just kidding. I would never do that to a kid. It was a dumb question though.

I pronounce it Leh-go. I'm pretty certain I've heard kids call them Lay-go, but then again, I remember my 2nd grade teacher making a huge fuss over people pronouncing leg as lay-g and egg as ay-g. It's the long a...stupid American children. He was the coolest teacher in the entire world...my first male teacher (only male teacher for a loong time). We used to swap NES games. I remember borrowing RC Pro Am from him (can't remember what I exchanged him for it). I fucking love that game.

I always preferred the master system, I mean it came with one of the best games ever built in. Alex the kid in miracle world. I can hear the theme tune now. Think I'll get my emulator working again.

I was poor, I had an Atari 7800 with built in Asteroids game, but I caught up later and got a Sega Mega Drive (Genesis).
I hav'nt read the second page but how come all the toys that kids played with in the 80's are making a comeback, He-Man, Transformers, Zoids, My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch Kids, even Ninja Turtles. Plus they're all horribly revamped!
Did anyone collect Garage Pail Kids cards, they were so cool!
