I gotta give the Vastly Superior award to SMYT over Oddballs. But then, I was one of the stronger voices in stirring up support to boot Oddballs. I think it went at the right time. But Bossanova... that is one spectacular work of art there. Not in the same league, not even the same sport, as SMYT

If Bossanova has a flaw, it’s a question of sequencing and tempo. Due to the way it was written, it’s very thematic. One guess of mine as to why it maybe rubs some fans the wrong way is that it seemingly bogs down mid-way with a string of very very similar tempo chuggers Is She Weird - The Happening. It’s not the whiplash, “what’s-around-the-next-corner” vibe of the preceding albums. But it’s an illusion. The variation is in the songs themselves rather than the structure. Different strokes for different folks, but Bossanova is outstanding in my book. I will say that it took years for me to appreciate it, so I get where detractors are coming from.

Bossa is my favourite Pixies album, probably partly because it was the first one I listened to. Also because I just love the sound and production of it, and it vividly takes me back to the so called "coming of age" time in my life. I hve no issue with the flow and love every track on it. Interesting to see how it will survive "the final five", or 6 or 7 depending on how things go down. You guys are being mean with your votes.

We're now at the point of no right answer (though there are a few wrong ones!), so I'll go with Frank Black as I listen to it less than the others.

I think Bluefinger is next. Then it gets tough.

We can argue what should have gone before what early on, but it is hard to argue against what is left. No filler remaining on this list.

I think I’m going to have to go with Frank Black. For me, personally, there is no way it’s better than Bluefinger or DITS. I certainly listen to those probably about 20x’s more often than FB.

Gotta be Bluefinger next.

Torn about the rest, hard to be subjective about the 1.0 stuff - it's all rose tinted until some time after self-titled.

Wow.

Orange Album is top to bottom better than Bluefinger and I love bfgr.

Bluefinger is probably the best of the rest, but I would say there are several albums in that equation. If you ignore the votes.

Orange Album is top to bottom not as good as Bluefinger and I love the Orange Album.

Thanks, I am really not sure what we are arguing about here. Your original statement is in obvious agreement with my feelings on the Orange album.

Listening to Bluefinger today in my new headphones, man it's hard to believe I voted against it.

But how am I supposed to vote against any of these?

And in the blue corner it's Dog In The Sand, the last standing Catholics era album. In the red corner it's the undisputed champions- Pixies 1.0 era!

Maybe the best era win.

We needed a way of passing time until Past is Prologue

I prefer Los Angeles to the whole rest of FB self-titled, and I prefer Bluefinger to that same rest :)

Hmm tough, tough, tough. I love just about all those albums. I have a special attachment to Bluefinger so I'm reluctant to shunt it out this soon. Dog in the Sand is also brilliant - I remember listening to it for the first time over ten years ago shortly before seeing BF solo for the first time and being absolutely enthralled by it, so much that I stuck it on again immediately afterwards. Frank Black self titled is a classic. Actually tempted to go for one of the Pixies albums... but no. Please pardon me for these my wrongs - I will vote for DITS.

I would rank FB solidly last behind TOTY and BF. It's definitely getting hot in here!
