Cult of Frank, I e-mailed you earlier with the required info. Since I have not recieved any sort of reply, I'm not sure if the e-mail got through or not. If it did not, I would be happy to re-send it.

chill dude, we have over 70 competetors....

Dean is a very, very fucking busy man.

And we are all very ingractiated for his existence.

So sing along, and cheers, I am going to make the fucking A-side this time goddammit, if it kills me (I am 27 in a few weeks), and I have the Pavement angle, plus a straight Kim Deal who isn't really her fucked up self (sorry K, I'm not judging your lurking, incognito bum)her. I might get 3 yr. old Lulu West to sing as well. Neato.

I've been watching Scarface way to much'maiyn'.
Need to buy remastered THX shizzy,

Goodbye again bitches and gentlemen ( a genderless "bitch" reference. I love my lawyer dark "chocolate people" girlfriend.)

Goodbye my bunnies...

{edit} I bought the Scarface breifcase last night...
I am a happy person
Just keep telling yourself that self.

We're currently organizing the schedule of rehearsals and recording sessions 'cause the members of the band live in quite distant towns and it's a bit hard to manage. But finally, we've planned the recording session of "I've been tired" to the 14th and 15th of November which leave us 2 weeks to mix the song before the deadline. I don't know yet if our cover will be similar or not to the original version but I'm really excited to play with these friends of mine 'cause actually we haven't play together for at least 2 years. It's a kind of reunion.

Haha, thanks. Sorry for the rush, its just that I wasn't sure if I had done things right, and was just double-checking.

Well, don't be too sorry. I ended up helping Mike with the FTP yesterday, so it didn't get done. I'll post here when I've replied to the email I received. Also, I'm still missing quite a few, so if you haven't sent me a message yet, please do.

I've been thinking lately that I just might stick with Palace of the Brine instead...I'm still not sure. Maybe it'll be a surprise. Palace of the Brine happens to be the first Pixies cover my old band learned and recorded.

Well I my friend came over Saturday with his drums and recorded them. He's never heard the song before in his life so they're not like amazing, but the drums in the actual song aren't really amazing either. I think this one's going to be almost identicle to the real thing except for maybe the vocals. It's coming along good though and I'm in no kind of rush at all.

Everyone who's emailed me should have received a reply by now. If you haven't emailed me, you should do so soon.

Also, I think it's time we started thinking of names for this project. We'll take name nominations up 'til Friday, and then we'll decide the name by voting up until Tuesday. Anyone can submit a name, so if you have some good or not so good ideas, please throw them in the mix.

My band is doing Monkey Gone To Heaven. Sorry it has taken awhile to note our progress but, we have been working on our new album coming out soon. My band has been practicing Monkey Gone To Heaven lately and it sounds very good live but, we have not started recording it yet. We have been brainstorming some ideas for it but, I think we are going to keep it pretty close to the original pixies version. If anyone has any cool ideas feel free to write us those ideas. We are planning on recording some in early Nov. We do know that on some of the vocals we are using a bullet mic. which we think will end up pretty cool. We will get back to you with more info and our idea for a cd name. www.thecutoff.com

I started my cover today. First four or so tracks have been recorded. The only instrument I'm using is a keyboard. You can accuse me of lots of things but not of good taste!

I like "Debt to the Pixies," that's pretty cute. Here's a few...names are meant to be followed by something like "A frankblack.net Tribute to the Pixies":

Rock Music
No Holiday
Misleading the World
Debased
Covers = Original Artist - Talent
There Goes My Creativity
Wave of Coverbands

OK, the last few are added in for attempted comic merit.

I am not in charge, but I'll speak for Dean as this is the answer you will surely get:

It is too late to be considered for the "final album," but you may still sumbit a song and it will be considered a "b-side." All b-sides are downloadable by the public, but they aren't technically part of the album.

In summary, all songs in the end can be downloaded, but since you missed the signup deadline, your song can't be considered to make the "official" album.

Jim, I like your "Trompe" idea for the title, but I think I like the sound of "Fool the World" better than "Mislead", even though that's not the correct translation. In any case, I like the title "Fool the World". With the last one, we admitted that 'we ain't he', with this one, we're gonna make 'em think the Pixies DID get back together....

Yeah, fool the world's not bad... I kind of want to avoid using a pun as the title as it seems witty and great for awhile and eventually becomes, well, weak. We Ain't He was a great title at first but one the joke wore off, You Ain't He was clearly better.

The B-Sharps.

I'm not saying that Fool The World is a pun, or anything, just some of the others.

i agree. i was joking, by the way....if no one realised, im sure you did. you know, the name, misleadth...anyway i reckon 'rock me joe' will get the most votes. not that im saying i dont like the name mislead/fool the world, but i prefer 'rock me joe'.

what was the phone number that black and joey put in out for bass players/drummers to contact them on? you know, the "into hüsker dü and peter paul and mary" advert....that might be a cool name.

867-5309? :)

I know you were joking, that post had nothing to do with 'ya (or anyone in particular), just thought I'd mention that. I'm kind of hoping we can come with something better than "Rock Me, Joe", but we could do worse.

is that it? i thought it was longer. still, you want better than 'rock me joe' hmm....

well like i said, 'go little record, go'? downside i think its too long perhaps. maybe from the purple tapes subbacultcha, "we have a little fun"? or "we had a little fun". something cheesy like that.

"ruined cool" - a quote from frank about the pixies being cool or something. maybe?
"Besando chichando con la pixies" - a variation of the oh my golly lyrics. maybe?
"Te amo de mas" - could someone translate that to "we love you too much"? instead of "i love you too much". santo lyric, you know....etc.

ok im out of ideas now.

Just a couple ideas to throw into the pot.
I asked a cxouple people to think of some names and so far all I've got is:
"burning in effigy" (which kinda confuses me)
or a really cool ornate number 13, like a tattoo
if there were 13 songs on the comp.
or "Apogee" with an ilustration in the trompe le monde drawing style.

Salutations,
First post; I see no one has tried to tackle "the Sad Punk" yet...I've got a pretty good demo of that on my studio program but it's only layered acoustic guitars and vocal harmonies. I know that doesnt meet the criteria and is pushing the end of sign up pretty close, but I would love to submit it for kicks (as if you didnt have enough to sift through already) and a possible shot as a b-side...
keep fighting the good fight

by the way I dig the "Debt to the Pixies" name too...my only suggestion at press time is the name of a Pixies mixtape I made years ago "Fish Heads and Candy Bars" ( no real relation to the Pixies per se, but a pretty neat if not disgusting visual.

Motorway to roswell is turning out great, way better than I expected, especially the end with all the building and crap, that part actually sounds better than anything else on the song. I finished my work on Spygirl's rock-a-my soul, and that sounds really awesome too. It sounds alot like the original, actually a whole lot like the original, which isnt the direction I would have taken it, but it sounds great.

Cool, Neil. I can't wait to hear 'em both. Where is that spygirl, anyway, I still need an email from her.

Themanwhowastooloud, send your track my way and it'll definitely get on the b-sides. Send me an email and we'll arrange something.

Finally, as far as this name thing goes, I probably should've started it earlier, so my apologies mostly to the art team, as it appears it won't be decided by the time I leave. So, keep the suggestions coming, we'll make the decision when I'm back from Detroit, so that should give everyone lots of time.

I might as well throw a few more names into the mix:
La La Love You
Rocka My Soul

I'm trying to think of good lyrics that would work, as neither of those ones really does it for me, but nothing yet...

We have a few good ones so far...
