I think he might have meant Palace --> Letter on Trompe, but instead of that doing Palace --> Manta Ray.
I know Palace of the Brine is a short song, but that would still kind of be cheating, wouldn't it? if it was counted as just one submission and not two?
If not, then I would love to do a Rock Music --> Sad Punk! (;

OK, I've got you down for Palace of the Brine. I advise you keep the tracks separate, though, because I can't take a two-song submission even if you do it in one track. Look back at my post on the previous page for my explanation of how it works if you want to do more than one song.
Sprion, sorry I missed you back there, I've got you on now. The list should be more of less up to date soon.

Although it may be last minute, I was hoping that maybe I could do an alternate version of cactus. I know it has already been chosen, but I really think that I could have some fun with it. Even if it will probably end up being a B-side, it would be an honor for me to pay some tribute to Frank. Thanks for understanding.

Alright, I've amalgamated this list with my emails. It's currently 20 mins to midnight, which I suppose means that this is pretty much the final list, so thanks to all those participating, I hope that we have as good a turn out for completed covers as we did last time.
I'll be emailing you all within the next few weeks to get an email list set up, during which time you should be starting on your tracks. People always ask me how they're going to get me the files, so I'll preempt this by saying right now that we will have something set up before the deadline is close at hand, and I will let you know then. For now, songs finished quite early will be dealt with individually. We want to avoid public web links since the finished CD and tracks are supposed to be a surprise.
Good luck with your tracks and be sure to keep me and everyone posted on the progress here.

Oh, and I won't be around tomorrow all day, so if I've overlooked an email or a post, don't panic if I don't reply until Thursday or Wed night. And if you haven't claimed a song by now, you're too late; you can still submit one, but it will be b-sided (which really isn't all that much different than running against the a-sides) unless something extenuating arises. Thanks.

I'm getting near done with my version of "Planet of Sound" and wanted to get an opinion on how to proceed with the "widdley bits." In the spirit of the original, I was thinking of replacing the break/solo with samples of various tunes lilting over the airways. I'm concerned about the lawyers, though. This is a not-for-profit exercise in fun, so I didn't think it would matter. What do you all think? My main instrument is guitar--I have no problem soloing incessantly instead.

Do whatever you wish, though my preference would be not to sample other tunes, it is acceptable since it is not for profit I believe. We had someone do some sampling last time around.
However, if this CD ever goes anywhere and your track was on the final list, it might get left off for that reason.
But it's for fun and probably will not go anywhere, so knock yourself out however you choose.

I was thinking of doing Subbacultcha as a backup tune...I think I've narrowed it down to Into the White, Bailey's Walk, and Subbacultcha...I'll submit one of em.
