Looks like Shawn Keaveny. I wouldn't, unless there's something about the Pixies.

Not sure if Shawn Keaveny is playing anything but looks like there'll be something on Steve Lamacq's show today...

I've more or less stopped listening to Radio 6 in the afternoons since they got Keaveny in to replace Rad Mac. Evenings are the best times for tunes, their daytime playlist has gone down the pan lately as well.

You can pick up much more of the background stuff being done on the YouTube version, thankfully. Couldn't catch them in initial BBC run through, and the line they censored "Fucking up my emotion" is still in there.

What does everyone think on first listen?

Calling it now - in 4 months, we'll be awash with posts claiming the demos are better, wish it all sounded like that etc. :D

I am officially hyped now though, new album and gigs!

Digging the song.

Loving the tracklist.

Youtube video looks inspired by the evolution of the arm or some other Lynchian nightmare.

And surprisingly none of us guessed the album title correctly.

Won't listen to any of it until September comes.

'Ready For Love'. That's got to be tongue in cheek, right?

And even if I agree with stuczuba's last comment, 'Please Don't Go' was left out, which makes me happy (I know some people like the live version, but I'm not one of them).

'Oh Little Cloud' nowhere to be seen?

Very good song
Superb artwork (better than IC and HC, quite Lynchian, the animated version on Instagram looks like a dancing fairy)
But the production sounds subdued. Live versions were groovier / a bit faster, with a better vocal rendition

Happy to see Please Don't Go

I really dig « On Graveyard Hill ». Bridge (or 2nd chorus) is WILD !

For those who listened the live songs, are (On) Graveyard Hill and Witching Hour the same song ?

Damn that deluxe set looks like it’s coming from Europe only? That’s $33 in shipping. Hopefully there’ll be another option...

Finding it fairly limp tbh. The witching hour parts are nice and poppy but the chorus is fairly boring and reminds me of some of the crappier moments of HC.

Think I'm more excited for the demos! The Good Works Of Cyrus. Is this Cyrus the Great or the guy who invented the combine harvester? So many questions.

I'm driving to work blasting it and to my ears it sounds pretty vibrant. I'm enjoying his vocals, the echoed backing vocal adds the flavor which I'm happy with. No plain crooning. Solid song, I see it become a live staple like UCL.

It's quite rocky, but it builds up into something then suddenly goes back to the bouncy bassline intro. I think that was a mistake; it's too structurally generic and at that point should have gone off on a bit of a tangient, maybe a guitar solo or something other than a tedious repetition of the intro.

Reserving final judgment to see if it wears thin quickly like HC did. I'm not sure I'm that keen on the Paz element, I want Kim back. I know that's not going to happen though. Looks like a solid album anyway though and about as good as we can expect from them after all this time so bring it on.

You can take that to the bank. They could release Dave tuning up his toms as an exclusive outtake download and someone would be right there going, “Now see THIS is the Pixies! Why don’t they do more of this???”

Is that a synth or a guitar with effects at the end? Either way I like it, got a real Bossanova feel to the song at the end.

Lol, you know that's right. Quotes like these from the band won't help, "There are at least two of them that I really like,” says Dave. “I wish they were on the album. One or two of them might be better than the record so it might take off!”.

I'm shocked they are releasing demos to be honest, BF must have a lot of confidence in his writing prowess to let them go unfinished like that.

I think it's a top idea, releasing half of the tracks written for the album in their raw form alone and the rest produced.

Hi-rez album artwork: https://www.herfitzpr.com/hpr.com/Pixies_Photos_Art_2019_files/BeneatheTheEyrieCover_hi.jpg

Looking around the press site I see they've signed up to a new record label - Infectious (BMG).
