I remember vividly in 1990 in the December magazine issues Select being the only main UK one to give Album of the year to Bossanova with the tagline, 'Rock's last outpost goes from strength to strength'. Quite right they were too. |

What do you all make of the responses recently to the question of," what's next for the band?" Seems like they are trying to figure out where to go, but the answers given are so guarded and strained it's hard to get a good read. |

I think they're the type of band that you get a better read on by looking at how they're performing rather than what they're saying, and it seems encouraging to me!
They seem incredibly happy with how their live shows are going, and as the b&w silver snail video seems to show they seem happy in Paz's abilities (and from live sets I've seen recently her live contributions on new tracks seem to have increased a little bit - on the KCRW show some songs, Greens and Blues if I recall, have her singing pretty much the entire song beneath BF's lead vocal). I'd bank on her being in the studio next time. Which is no bad thing. Some comments in recent interviews seemed to suggest that they weren't planning on waiting too long either to get back to writing.
The extent to which they've been using the new tracks live suggests no lack of confidence in the tunes and - at least at the gig I went to back in November and from what Joey's said - they seem encouraged by how audiences received them.
The album was at number 5 on the mid-week UK top 40 albums chart without a huge amount of promotion which is actually a much better placing that I expected, seeing as the core fan-base would have had the EPs for a while now. Proves that the band are still commercially viable as a recording entity, which should be encouraging for them going forward.
In any case, Pixies future has Classic Masher on the horizon, so we're all golden. |

I'm curious if and of the songs Or just music that BF was working on regarding The Good Inn will be revisited? Would be interesting to see what they can do with a larger theme. Would be very different to anything they've done before. Read that the music from Bagboy was the only thing used so far. |

I think it might be an old interview that was held on the shelf, it talks about whether they will follow the EPs with an album which is also kinda....old news. |

You are correct sir! Editor's note in the first paragraph states the interview took place between EPs 2 and 3. |

Some nice info in the new Mojo:
Alice Prin has been saved for a later release and is a sestina, a complex 12th century verse form.

Nothing we hadn't had basically confirmed already, but from Black Francis' twitter:
"Thanks all for buying the new Pixies LP "indie cindy"; glad so many if you are enjoying. Lots if upcoming shows and recording sessions(?)..."
I'm staggered by their schedule at the moment. You'd think they'd be close to burn out already but they seem, if anything - going by some of the recent live sessions - more invigorated and in better shape as a band than they have in years.
Good time to be a Pixies fan. |

Give me new recordings over upcoming shows, any day. They have toured enough already!
I'm dying to know what the next step is and if Paz is involved in new recordings.

They got something to prove - they're the underdogs. I love it. Keep bringing it on, because as fans, we're all winners in this one.
My density has popped me to you. |

There's an interview with Joey in the latest issue of Hot Press. Quite short though. |
