PUERTO RICO PIXIE
Ouf!
At last something interesting to hear from Pixies these days! (and to a larger extand on the forum) It was a short intervention but a nice professionnal AND meaningful point of view. I would like more of this kind of observation in interveiws. It's not that I dislike Joey or David talking, but...

I hope it's a great show with a unique set list. Maybe even an official live album to follow! |

He's on quite good form in this one
LOVE this:
! I just can’t understand the modern-rock mentality. It’s like, has anyone ever listened to a fucking goddamn Lou Reed record? What the fuck have they been listening to and watching? “They seem like they were catty, in a bad mood tonight. They didn’t say anything to the audience!” Like, what the fuck planet are you on? Have you listened to any cool rock band ever? Have you ever heard of Miles fucking Davis? What the fuck? |

good read I can relate to his opinion about festivals "It’s just feeling a little too Spring Break for me"

Does he have an onion on his belt when he listens to those records? Sounds like a cranky old man. Now get off my lawn! |

Got Q yesterday... the Q&A is really the only thing of interest in it! Apparently Frank is a fan of Countdown! (They call him 'Frank Black' in the article, btw). |

Slightly disappointed to hear Charles say he has written no new music in 2014 but maybe he's just being canny... |

I used to hope that FB would take his time with new albums, cherry-pick the 11 best songs out of the 20 plus songs that he had written.
Now with the Pixies, it seems it's going to take forever before we get to hear new material. Three, four years? Be careful what you wish for, I guess. Crap. But please make the next batch scruffy. Not just production-wise. |

I know what you mean. I like the new songs, but it worked just dandy when they dashing them out like no tomorrow 87-91. |

Nice nerdy music discussion
I was fucking pretty thrilled to read that Charles is into Jethro Tull. I freaking love Jethro Tull, much to my wife's chagrin. The 72-79 albums (Thick as a Brick through Stormwatch) are some of my all time favorites. I dig them all though. I think I'll throw on Heavy Horses now...

I've known for some time that Thompson is a fan of Elvis Costello. Back in the day I wore out Get Happy! I played it so much. |

Me as well, power to the man for liking Jethro Tull!! (If you said that ten years ago in the UK you'd get arrested.)

I remember BF mentioning being bribed into playing baseball with records in an old interview. Surprized he's not much of an Ian Dury fan. |

He's probably gonna cover rhythm stick now you've said that Carl.

Haha, you never know! You've made me think of Perry Farrell singing "my sex and my drugs and my rock n' roll... are they only thing my body needs!"
Don't wish to derail the thread, but here's a recent article with Beck, similar to BF's Guardian thing, that might be of interest to some... Beck likes Carcass! Nice! |

PUERTO RICO PIXIE
The story the guys tell about Kim's departure seems to be rehearsed at this point. I remember when the announcement about Kim leaving the band was made, and how a lot of people on the inter-tubes attacked Thompson with the same old accusations of him being a dictatorial egoist. In response Thompson's wife wrote a vitriolic post on her Facebook page where she stated that Deal is a burnt-out old ex-junkie, incapable of functioning like a normal human being. The post only stayed up a few hours and then disappeared. I'll bet dollars to donuts that what happened was a lot more acrimonious than the guys will admit, and Deal now refuses to give interviews at all. |

If that's the case, I wouldn't tell the story either. Private shit I guess... So they did the right thing.
