Been insanely quiet in Pixies land lately. Has BF been active on twitter at all? |

Mainly retweeting. They're in Japan now (maybe we should make a post in the live section).

Very true, it has been very quiet on the Pixies front of late save for a couple of Joey/Dave interviews here and there.
They have been on the road for a while since the 1st leg of the tour which was about a year ago?
Solid touring for a year is pretty intense and takes a huge commitment and it is going on into another leg this fall.
During that time though there has been EP 1/ 2/ 3 and Indie Cindy... is there a possibility with the tour continuing into the fall this year that there will be further new release(s)?
EP 4 perhaps?
I recall on Later With Jools Holland the intention was to release EP's over the next year / 18 months or so and that was roughly October/November last year
So will there be any further releases to help puish ticket sales etc for the upcoming US tour...?
And what of those songs that didnt make it onto Indie Cindy that are listed on BMI like Classic Masher, Banks of The Drain, Alice Prin etc... if they are on this list I would expect them to be fully complete, no?
I find it strange that they would be saved and re-done for a future album, once theyre done theyre done, move on to the next phase seems to be the ethos.
So who knows...a new EP with the rest of the Indie Cindy songs would be cool and unexpected...though doubtful of the possibility I would wholeheartedly welcome this.
But maybe more tellingly, the length of time the EP's/Indie Cindy tour has gone on may suggest there could be some time between the next release of new music and world tour?
Purely conjecture from me but its so quiet... |

The whole Indie Cindy project was almost wrapped up nearly two years ago (late 2012). They started touring about 1 year after the actual sessions. If some "new" things happened, it probably occured between the end of the "Indie Cindy" sessions and the rehearsals/1st leg of the tour (between mixing, reunions on how to distribute the record, marketing stuff, picking a new bass player, rehearsals, etc...). This lefts little room for writing other things and already planning another Pixies record.
They have been touring for almost 1 year now. And Frank is probably working on other projects, too. And I don't know if tour hotels/bus are a good place for inspiration.
They're probably all pretty burned out about the band at this point. You can tell by looking at recent concerts. Setlist doesn't change anymore. On the other hand, the energy is still here. That's a good thing. But it seems a little too early to concentrate on a new project already. And the tour isn't over yet... (btw, and despite what has been said, this is still a "Greatest hits" tour).
I'm like everyone, i'd like a new record per year, but that seems complicated, they're not young fellows anymore...
I think they'll tour till the end of the year, then take a year off. Then do something (Pixies or not Pixies). |

a new record per year is a bit too much. every two or three years is a better pace for me.
same with seeing them live, really. i don't mind seeing them twice in less than a year, but after that, i'm ready for a break.
it's educational |

Clearly a joke. But the NME will publish it as news anyway...

Interviewers are so lame. What was it like to split back in 93 ? Kurt Cobain said you were a major influence, how does it affects you ? Blah blah Kim Deal ! Blah blah Fight Club ! Blah Blah Radiohead !
Nothing about they way they play, the way they sing, the way they compose music. No questions about any of the new songs.
WTF, really.

Agreed. It's all the same bullshit unless BF or joey decides to expound a bit or rant. |

Most interviewers are not fans. They are assigned to interview a band, and usually don't know anything about them. A few minutes of Googling, reading the wiki entry, and making notes, and they are off to do the interview. |

No need to be a fan to work a little bit on your interview and don't always ask the same old 3 questions (they won't give a proper answer anyway). If they really googled for at least 30 seconds, they should be aware of that.

That would be a good thread, questions for Pixies' interviewers.
If they spent 30 seconds on Google they might find it. |

Some guy from a site came on here, asking for good questions to ask Joey prior to doing an interview with him and he ended up using some of the questions; unsurprisingly, it turned out to be one of the better interviews.
That's a good idea for a thread, hammerhands. |

Almost posted the same thing about this Joey interview with our question from this forum, then eventually though "oh, forget it".
Enjoyed this interview alot, and even had the opportunity to ask a question. Was a little disappointed by the answer, though... (Question was something like "Will you eventually add songs like Trompe Le Monde, Space I Believe in, all those lost gems to the setlist"... answer: -does not really answer- was kind of "Well no, I suppose what we have now on the setlist is what the audience actually wants to hear". Sigh...
But you're right, that was a great interview. And the related topic has a pretty low hit count. Go figure...
