Sad news she gave a lot of energy to Pixies, this is that she wrote on their facebook page:
Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.

my english is not good enough, sorry, but seems that her contract was ended by the band, really i dont understand, their live reviews shows that they´re performance better than ever.
Will Kim Deal back?. She´s in their final leg with breeders.

| Kim Deal finishes touring with the Breeders at the end of the year, the Pixies tour resumes two weeks into January. Enough time to get the new songs down? She did write/rehearse the new songs... |

"In a recent interview with NME it was revealed that Kim Deal had left the band in October 2012, though the news wasn't announced until June 2013. Shattuck did not speak to NME during the interview - which was published earlier this month (November 23), suggesting there may have been friction within the group. The band's frontman Black Francis declined to say why she wouldn't be taking part in the interview, simply saying: "I guess you could ask our manager".
Sounds to me that this is not a 'Kim decided to come back' ejection.

| WTF? This band is ridiculous, in a not endearing way. If Kim Deal isn't coming back, and VC takes over, I will be a bit disappointed. Granted, Shattuck is never in pitch. |

Bizarre news. The way information comes out about the Pixies, sometimes it's like they are actively trying to hold onto the dysfunctional band label.
At Hammersmith I was blown away by how great they were sounding together. Very sad if Kim S won't be contributing to that anymore. |

| Suppose this only really makes sense if Kim Deal's back. Weren't they stressing in an interview that Kim Shattuck wasn't a permanent member just a few days ago? Seems more apparent why that was the case now. |

This really bums me out. She brought so much energy and positivity to the band!! I know she was only in the band for a few months, but i'm really going to miss her presence. Seeing those first 5 shows in LA that she played with them, seeing her grin from ear to ear and rock the hell out every night brought so much joy to me. That week of shows was one of the best weeks of my life and she helped make that possible. Man, this sucks. Especially since it's apparent that she's so bummed about it. Ah crap, why does being a fan of this band have to come with so many highs and lows. :(

| Judging by the fact that there is only like a month between now and their first shows in NA, it has to be either KD or VC. Or some nobody Jazz bass player who can learn a song a minute and play it perfectly. |

Yarbles, you've nailed it with that post. I was so high and excited for the future after seeing such energy last week and now I am feeling totally gutted.
While I quite like Grand Duchy VC as a new Pixies bass player is not going to work for me at all. I guess one can hope Kim Deal is back on board but I am not convinced. |

I don't see VC working that well in the Pixies either... and even though it'd be great to see Kim Deal back I feel like she would just bail on the band again in another year or less.... Ugh.
It's weird to be in this position as a Pixies fan, (mostly because I never thought a situation like this would happen).... but in just this short amount of time Kim S. has made such a big impression as the bass player/backup vocalist in this group, that she's left some HUGE shoes to fill. Even if Kim D. did come back, I feel like even she has a lot to live up to now. So weird....

'Someone in our camp' in combination with saying 'you could ask our tour manager' strikes me as maybe there being friction with tour managers. Makes more sense that they'd be reluctant about new music more so than a member of the band. Kim Shattuck being asked to leave though doesn't really fit in with all that so I'm lost. |

I would much rather have VC in the band than Kim D. The new songs are great. I just want them to keep creating new material. I really hope Kim S's departure doesn't delay the release of EP2 or a new album.

| Just a bit of a theory, but maybe with the whole 'ask the manager' thing, and the sudden nature of Kim Shattuck leaving it's the band's management that don't like the reception of the new songs and also the management that made the decision to get rid of her to shake things up. |

| Violet and BF broke up Grand Duchy because it was too much of a strain on their marriage and family life. I doubt she would even consider joining the Pixies. |
