Yep, it has the makings of a damn fine album... on a minor note, though, I wish they chose a different cover
"I've got my own gas tanks."
There is a "covers problem" since the cult of ray. I dont even think about it anymore. But Frank Black Francis, Bluefinger and Black Letter Days are Ok and Oddballs is great. Conclusion: dont MAKE a cover, just take any existing item that looks good!
Those are my fav covers too (since TOTY). I think the liner note artwork for DITS is awesome, would have been better as a cover theme. I will say that this new one is the cleanest, best looking for awhile. It doesn't really fit the music I've heard from the album, but whatever, in this day and age, what's the difference. These are the End Days of physical albums and artwork.
The full leak of this one (that apparently is out there) has eluded me, but it will be out in a couple weeks, and I have Der Golem in the meantime. Besides, the last month I've been diving through the catalog. It was quiet for so long that I only had a couple FBF's in my rotation, but lately all the excitement has stirred up the old excitement! I love FBF release activity! It's like Mardi Gras or something

he played it like that in ny too... guess he just went for a different vibe with the new version. |

Non Stop Erotic is reminding me of one of my favorite albums (on repeat the last few weeks), Hounds of Love by Kate Bush
I can't stop listening to Cloudbusting! Fell in love with the song a few months back.
The whole album's another world. I'm hearing it in more ways than I've done in the last 25 years. Amazing what you can do from a barn in Kent. Wish I had some pot.

I'm still reveling in the Golem, so I'm not in such a hurry about NSE that I'm pursuing whatever leaked version is floating around.
With that said, though, it's only one more week before NSE arrives, assuming USA release date is still March 30 as previously noted. (March 30 also happens to be a full moon, the significance of which cannot be guessed.) So my excitement for this new record is ramping up, and I look forward to buying and devouring it next week two weeks hence. |

Aye, aye, coastline... suffice to say the combination of the time change and this cold medicine I'm quaffing has taken its toll.
Two weeks, then. I can make it two more weeks, especially with the help of the Golem. |

only 1 user had nonstoperotik but i'm sure now its out the bag it'll spread quite quickly, although i can't wait to get my hands on a full cd quality version. Also even though CDjap states 3 bonus tracks hmv japan states there is only 1 bonus so who knows what's going on! anyways i've listened to NSE 5 times today and i'm mighty impressed, much prefer it to Golem, probably because it has that FB / TOY feel to it - When i go down on you has a Motorway to Roswell vibe and Oh my tidy sum is a gem, pure and simple. I can't wait to hear the bonus cuts, hopefully they'll all be on itunes. |

Black Francis – NonStopErotik Cooking Vinyl Records (Release Date: March 30, 2010)
Review by Adam Perry for the Albuquerque Weekly Alibi
“I don’t need to have some money / and I don’t need to have some friends / I don’t need to have somebody new / when I go down on you.” Whether NonStopErotik qualifies as “Frank Black’s sex album” pretty much speaks for itself. More importantly, the gigantic-voiced singer/songwriter’s darkly rocking new LP is certainly proof that, like Duke Ellington, music is his mistress. Like the sum of Black Francis’ solo career, NonStopErotik is stylistically all over the place, misleadingly starting with unexceptional alt-rock harkening back to 90’s bands like the Toadies and then spanning sexy Ween-esque synth ballads, bug-eyed surf noir, and explosive rock that could only be called sweet noise. “We all got wheels to take ourselves away…come on wheels, take this boy away,” Francis sings on “Wheels,” and you sometimes get to wondering what the legendary Pixies front-man’s personal life is like, spending many sleepless nights recording this debaucherous longplay in Brooklyn, L.A and London. In the album’s press release, Francis wrote “I want to be all inside you…sucking at the only thing that matters”; NonStopErotik gets my vote of approval, but don’t blame me if you feel violated.

there is a copy available for like $34.00 on Amazon but the tracks are not listed so I'm a little hesitant to buy it. |

Don't want to look like I'm jumping at the throat of everyone who writes a negative review, but it amazes me that someone would diss the record by saying it's not as good as the Catholics. Weren't they totally ignored or hated by the entire music press during the 6 years or so of the band's existence?
The review of 93-03 on the same website (different reviewer) says: "an auspicious opening run that, at times, buckles under the weight of past glories, before hitting an effortless pop stride, losing it in a mire of forgettable, by-numbers rock, finally clawing it back with some caterwauling, skewed punk."

My promo was waiting for me when i got home yesterday, even better than i was anticipating having heard the few tracks posted on this forum. Not a single track that i dont like, almost sounds like a best of! Packaging is full of pictures of violet which suits the lyrics and feel of the album perfectly.
