I have absolutely nothing to say but I dont like to see the Non Stop Erotic topic go under the coffee machines lives and the other project news. This is the f****** new album! Couldnt we have a Grand Duchy section in this site, like we already have FB and pixies as two diferent entities? It's really another band, isnt it? |

It's crazy how garage band stuff allways sounds sooo, garage band. I'm not even talking about the synth sax, but that guitar and the baby voice are pure GB gimmick. Anyway it's cool, it's like a new definition of lofi. Everybody who owns a mac has garage band. They make the same sounds but not the same songs, so it's OK... but It would be 1000 times much cooler if Apple 'd give some free sounds instead of those expansive and useless "jampacks".
Something funny about non stop erotic is that we know some of the song for a a long time and as every good FBF song they get better with time. So for the first time in his career at the moment we'll discover the record we'll already be abble to appreciate the songs!! That'll be really enjoyable I guess. There wont be that kind of confusion that the brain needs to eat a FBF song. I remember hearing the orange album for the first time and thinking "what the hell is that ?". |

I should have written chew or digest. But a varied food is allways the best. A bit of Kevin Ayers or Dead Kennedys never hurts. And some Captain Beefheart in case of brain constipation. |

Whoa, and YOUR post just reminded me that I dreamed last night I was talking to a beautifull girl but all I was abble to talk about was the prices of the vegetables! That stops the erotism, i can tell you (I had to say something related to the topic). |

From EDF's myspace blog
Friday, December 25, 2009 Nonstoperotik The new Black Francis album is done and dusted and called Nonstoperotik. It was finished and mixed by Eric and Head at RAK Studios in London in the presence of the ghost of Mickie Most. Mastering happened in Somerset at LOUD. Oh, and it's a real blinder!
Should be released sometime in the Spring. Check www.blackfrancis.net for details. |

It's not a huge amount of time, even compared to previous releases. Hopefully, whichever the label is (presumably CV), there'll be some decent marketing for it. It'd be nice to see FB getting the reviews and attention his solo work deserves! |

Yeah, an April release would be great, it took Bluefinger about 9 months to come out, and Der Golem about two years, so it'd be a welcome release date. |

bf.net:
Date: 11-01-2010 GRAND DUCHY is back in the studio after a break for Winston Calling working on their new album, tentatively titled "Let The People Speak".
B-SIDES for NonStopErotik are going to be created for a single from the record. Rumor has it that the track to be released as a single is Six-Legged Man. Also in the rumor mill, NSE's scheduled release is in the spring time. Keep posted here for tour date announcements, too.
London filmmaker Judy Jacobs is doing a full length film to accompany NSE, which will hopefully be screened in various cities and/or released on DVD.
No word yet as to when or where NSE will be leaked but we can assure you it will be.

So they are planning to leak the album before the release? Is this common for Frank Black/Black Francis releases? I find it rather weird.
it's educational |

I think you can safely initiate your humour receptors and aim them directly at that last sentence Discoking.
Having said that, the last of his albums I hadn't already heard upon purchase was probably the double uppercut of Black Letter Days/Devil's Workshop. |

I'm sure you're right Brian. Though I love the new material on that disc I never really think of Christmass alongside his studio albums. |

Cooking Vinyl Press Release for NSE-
http://www.cookingvinyl.com/press/d/9391-1/Nonstoperotik+PR.doc
BLACK FRANCIS New album NonStopErotik (COOKCD513) Released Monday 5th April
I finally came into possession of an old guitar someone had given me at a nightclub in San Francisco awhile back; Eric Drew Feldman had been holding it for me there on Haight Street. He convinced me that it looked cool (it was black) and had been given in the spirit of benevolence. Every time I picked it up a nice chord came out and so I lovingly cleaned it with red wine in the dressing room the following night and began to write. I told the tour manager that we would drive in my Cadillac directly to a recording studio in Los Angeles (and could he book one, oh, and a rhythm section, too?) from the gig in San Luis Obispo which would put us at the studio at about 4am. It all happened according to plan and we cut the initial tracks there in the wee hours over a few days, and then moved on to an equally haunted studio in London and Eric Drew Feldman joined us there and we finished the record in St. John's Wood. Like I said the studio was haunted and I wrote many a couplet by candlelight in the studio accommodation, slept very little, and only felt the need to get the fuck out of there fast on the last night. The spirits had not ever bothered me, other than low drama moral support, but I was informed that they had heard enough and it was time to move on; plus I had a gig in Ireland.
When I was a boy the plant we boys called a fern was code for vagina, and to this day I love fern plants. In my heart the vagina is almost everything, and almost everything else could be summed up in what cock and seed have to offer; and everything else? The love of the father, dead or alive, the pain of too much pleasure, till death do us part, the voice of another song man from the other side, with or without God, Teri and the Possibilities, where ever you may be, the smell of sex in the air, seduced, slain, on my knees in prayer, sucking at the only thing that matters, my own personal Meret Oppenheim, I am Man Ray and I want you and to be all the way inside you, the cameras whirring as we put some elbow grease into the scene, the audience watching us in the dark.
Black Francis January 2010, Central Oregon
Recorded in Los Angeles, London and Brooklyn, NonStopErotik was produced by Eric Drew Feldman and Black Francis, and features 10 original songs, plus a cover of the Flying Burrito Brothers track "Wheels".
Full track listing as follows:
01. Lake of Sin 02. O My Tidy Sum 03. Rabbits 04. Wheels 05. Dead Man's Curve 06. Corrina 07. Six Legged Man 08. Wild Son 09. When I Go Down On You 10. Nonstoperotik 11. Cinema Star

Yes artwork is horrible. The sort of pictures to accompany some non-descript magazine article. But for an album cover???
Worst album cover yet. (I'm a picture editor for what it's worth)

Wost album cover yet? Did you forget about Devils Workshop or Christmass?
I like this cover a lot, but on the other hand it's nothing compared the 4AD-covers. (I'm nobody for what it's worth)

It's true you have to allow for taste. I thought both Devils Workshop and Christmass covers were ok, they would have been much better with better quality repro. I do think this cover for NonStopErotik is the worst yet because those pictures in that kind of layout are typically found in the kind of giveaway magazines with low editorial standards that are glanced at and thrown away same day.The cover suggests the songs on the album are average/forgettable/disposable IMO.
You've never been nobody
