when i was about 13 i had an accident on the playground where i literally ran into a pole, smashing my balls, horribly. my groin area was throbbing and when i went to feel my balls, on my right ball, all i felt was squishy cartlidgey stuff and water (this was before i learned that your balls will retreat into your sack in the event of severe trauma. smart balls). being a highly concerned kid, and possibly somewhat of a hypochondriac, I asked my mom to take me to the hospital. i honestly believed i had destroyed one of my balls and this was concerning.

got to hospital and they toldl me to go in this curtained area, take off my pants and underwear, and lay on the bed. mind you, this is at the age when getting naked like that is extremely uncomfortable - i really did not want to do it but i was genuinely concerned and wanted to get my sac looked at.

so i undress. i'm laying there, extremely nervous, with just a shirt on, feeling as uncomfortable as i could possibly feel. and, worrying about the prospect of a doctor seeing me naked, let alone possibly having to touch my schlong, or whatever he's going to have to do. and then... the absolute unexpected happened..

an attractive, young female doctor walks in through the curtains - full lab coat, stethoscope - the works. she had long auburn hair and a nice smile. thinking back now, she was probably only in her 20's, but then she still seemed like a severe adult.

being naked for a male doctor would have been bad enough, but this was beyond embarrassing. anyway, blah blah... we talked about my problem etc.. and after some chit chat, at some point she literally, and very gently, massages / caressees my ball sack. lightly. tenderly. feeling the balls (by this time both balls were present). because i was in that weird between-age it was oddly not erotic - though not un-sexual. i think my mind was basically blown. having a female touching my business and the whole deal was too much and, i kid you not, it sent me into a laughing fit (also because it tickled).. i was laughing my ass off the whole time, uncontrollably. which she thought was funny too.

anyway, doesn't really compare, but in some ways it does. i felt like maybe that doc and i connected in some way. and it's a fond memory

awesome. i once had a similar reaction however i went to my male doctor. i was 12/13 and at the time all they talked about on the news was AIDS or Gay Related Infectious Disease whatever and all they could say was they didn't know and i remembered hearing something about bumps on your tongue. keep in mind i had never had sex, never kissed a girl, never jerked off proper, maybe put a third of a digit in my butt was about it....anyways i could see the adenoids in the back of my throat by really opening up and looking in a mirror and for about 6 weeks was convinced i somehow picked up AIDS. remember they didnt know enough about it then and there was arguments about mosquitoes and kissing and toilet seats and that really fucks up a 12 year old. anyways i raised my concerns to my doctor and he pretty much bitch slapped me and told me to stop listening/watching all the bullshit on tv.

fuck after i write all that i realise its not similar at all....at any rate; being a teenager sucks, especially when you gotta deal with boners and wet dreams and shit...

I see Rangers are getting a promotion this season, to the 2nd div lol lol

It's not so much football that I hate, more the shouting. If you are going to shout at least do it with some style, and not at 01.45am on Radio 5 in the middle of the Rod Sharpe show. Do people who are into football realise that you can still relay the same information about what is happening, or what happened without screaming and balling and having a raj? Hello, this is the football news. Team B won by scoring two brillant goals near the end of the second half, and team F lost to an away game. Team L has a new manager, and Team A are playing an away game next week against team O. There, now DID I NEED TO FLIPPING SHOUT TO TELL YOU THAT?

there is a time and a place for getting excited about football and in the middle of the night on my radio is not one of them.

Absolutely! What's even better is that I work for the club and will be sitting on the bench at Wembley! It's an absolute dream come true as I grew up supporting the team. It's going to be so tough to beat Manchester City but if we manage it... party time! I'm sure fbc and homerspetmonkey, wherever they are, will be rooting for Wigan too!

OK it's a bit weird yes, but unless I've got a a full barrel I can often need a bit of peace and quiet to myself to allow my bowels to go through the preparatory motions. It's a bit like pisser's cramps, but affects shitting. I suppose it might be called called shitter's cramp but I'm not sure it's an officially recognised urban term yet. I mean, who would want to really talk about it in public, you know..

I've been back into Mexcian food lately, there's a bit of a Mexican food kit promotional market war going on at the moment so it inspired me, through monetary frugality to reacquiant myself with their range, which as far as can see it is all pretty much the same. I can tell the difference between an enchilada or a burrito to save myself, I just throw a load of shit together in a pan, wrap it up, cheese it and put it in the oven for a few minutes.

Anyway this is what is making my stools more solid lately.

Oh my word! I don't think many people could imagine what I'm feeling right now! The proudest day of my life. I sent this picture to my mum's phone and when she text back saying it was her new phone wallpaper I shed a tear, knowing that my family are proud of me. My dad was in tears at the final whistle so my mother says. Unbelievable stuff! Wigan Athletic beating Manchester City in the FA Cup Final... it just doesn't happen... does it!? Tro, thanks for your support and interest in the match, it means a lot!

I saw a bee go into the ground today and thought I might have been hallucinating. As it turns out I wasn't though and apparently there is such a thing as ground bees. I suppose they have to go somewhere to sleep at the end of their bee day, doing whatever it is they do.

Stu, I had no idea, that is amazing! We were watching and there was a massive cheer from me and my son when Watson scored. That's a cracking photo too - well done, it's a fantastic achievement.

Coastline, do you know anything about this?
Where were the air routes over the Rockies in the 1920s and 1930s?
Were they near where you are?
Are there any extant aerial lighthouses?

Pardon me if this post gets lengthy, I am going to edit it a few times.

I was watching Conquest of the Air on TCM, they mention near the end that a series of aerial lighthouses
marked the route through the Rockies.

The image in my mind was a red and white barber pole lighthouse on top of a mountain.
I guess that isn't quite what most of them were though!

But if this was actually built, it far surpasses my imagination.

Croydon Field New Aerial Lighthouse from Popular Mechanics

Another Popular Mechanics article

The best information I can find is about British and European ones on this page
There was a whole system of them put in place in Germany for Zeppelins
as early as the turn of the century and they were used until before the war.

They may have been known as beacons in North America.
The first of a series in Western Canada was installed on the Hudson's Bay Co.
Store here in Winnipeg in 1930, 200 feet in height. I was unable to find a
picture of it.

New York's first one in 1922 was a searchlight that pointed North until the lighthouse keeper heard a plane, then he would point it into the prevailing wind.

I met someone (a friend of a friend) who seemed like a really nice girl tonight, we were talking for a while and then she had to leave because her friends were leaving. It happened in such a rush that I didnt get to ask her for her number, but I got the impression that she really liked me. What are the rules now? Do I facebook her? Do I wait to see if she facebooks me (we do have mutual friends)? How long should I leave it before I message her, IF I message her? Hmmm...
