I'm pretty sure that everybody who's posting on this forum is a dedicated fan. Don't feel bad downloading it if you're going to buy it. Those 'downloading is a crime' commercials are really getting into our subconciousness (I know it's bad spelling, too lazy to look it up).

I could post the link but not sure if it would be against forum rules. Could someone let me know? If it's not I will - it was via a blog I came across, and not Soulseek.

You could always e-mail a forum member and ask politely. Don't know about the rest of you, but this Soulseek business makes me uneasy. If I were trying to obtain a copy of this thing, I'd surely rather get it from a trusted member of the forum.

i guess i don't like the punk music. (btw, COR is anything but punk to me). i also miss a lead guitar, i think. i looove the raw sound of FB&TC, and some might say, BF is raw too, but i miss the rock. i only hear punk. and i don't like punk. for me, BF doesn't rock.

but i only listended once or twice to a couple of songs on youtube. the first impression was "well, that's a bit annoying". i felt too young for FM/RM and most of the songs on HC, and now it seems i feel too old for BF.

anyway, looking forward to some more listens. probably my mind will change.

So, I finally got the album, and it kicks my ass! The bass is nice and mean on this thing! Hope that doesn't get changed during a final mix, you know? Who played bass on this anyway? Do we know? Do we know ANYTHING?

When I first listened to it, I cranked it all the way to 11, bounced around my room and ran outside into a thorn bush, naked.

All right. Back to work.

I'll be by the pool, playing with my guns.

Just found it on Soulseek, and am waiting for it to download... I haven't read all these posts but it seems like Frank is returning to his mid 90's style, which I am well looking forward to. Can't wait to see him in Belgium!!!

Great detective work everyone. Especially to Coastline and Billgoodman! Do you like my new font colour? I think i may do a new combination of blue plus orange in honour of the dutch!

And talk about PUNK ROCK CITY!!

Is this for real!! ….Thank you Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV Frank Black Francis!!! Pure gold!

This is ADDICTING! I’ve been listening to this non stop for the last week. Tight Black Rubber!! YES!! “Black on black…dressed in white…another day another guilder…mary had a little lamb..her sh*t was pure as snow”!! Classic Frank!

Frank! Violet! Dan the man!! Jason! Mark! And Herman Brood! This is a beautiful combination! Tight. That killer driving bass, the pounding drums, Frank’s guitar playing, Violet’s sweet background vocals, the art, the mystery, the lyrics, another Frank Black history lesson! ..the production…RAW…I love it!

Thank you!

It's been 3 days since I've listened to the album, and every time someone mentions "captain pasty" or "threshold apprehension" in a post, a f*cking 5 second clip of the song runs through my head. The songs are imbedded in my brain.

I've been listening to this music A LOT! I love it!! I'm afraid I'll get tired of listening to it before the release date...but...well, nevermind...I'll never get tired of Bluefinger!

'Angels Come To Comfort You' is my favorite track right now. I love the bouncy guitar part. Makes me wanna dance (and I don't dance!). Also, I'm really enjoying the lyrics.

One of the things I like most about this album is the bass. That got me thinking... doesn't FB have another song containing lyrics that go something like this: "I love the bass / so turn up the bass.." That's been bothering me because I just can't figure out which song it is. Anyone know the answer?

The beautiful chorus coda of Angels has been stuck in my head the last few days. Reminds me of Alec Eiffel, not that it actually sounds like it, but just in that it's a lovely, unexpected, choral ending!!

Totally agreed, Kelly. The bass is amazing on this album. It's the reason I opted for new headphones the other day, instead of the Morrissey tix. I wanted to really hear that great bass, which my cheapo backup headphones don't give me.

Oh, and the line you're thinking of is from "Fiddle Riddle":

Piano it marks the good pace
Ooh yeah, the good pace
Don't know if it's right, but I like the bass
So turn up the bass

First couple of listens for me were slightly dissapointing, but i was not aware of the whole concept, since then it has grown and grown on me. Now i am quite able to say it is one of Frank's best records in my opinion. Once i understood what Frank was doing i started to connect with the songs, and i think it's a very emotional record, and a really nice tribute.

I think probably i have listened to the whole record 15 times or so now, so if you are anything like me just keep going with it and see how it goes. Many of Franks albums have been 'growers' for me, but this album particularly so.

I have to agree you guys about the bass playing also! I play a little myself and i love this guys tone, sounds like he is playing flatwounds to me.

What songs do people think would make a good first single from this album? My vote would be for "Your Mouth Into Mine." Besides being my favorite (right now), it's catchy, it's provocative (if you don't know the actual meaning), and it sums up exactly why this album was recorded. But I could make a great case for the title track, too.

Who on earth is putting this on soulseek? I would strongly state that I think this is a bad idea. This isn't about being elitest and allowing the few to have it this is about having some sort of reign on the leak. We're fortunate here that we get these things filter through to us. We're very lucky indeed and usually what happens is someone passess it to someone else who will pass it to a select few with a request to keep it quiet and they will pass it to a few more and on the quiet quite a few people are lucky enough to hear something awesome soon. What worries me about this is the lack of anything subtle in the way this album has been handled and discussed. Posting asking for it is bad form. Posting new threads asking for it is worse form. Hell, I personally consider so open a discussion bad form but what do I know. Seeing as it is so open a discussion it's obvious to all who has it and who doesn't. Email someone you know from here and ask them. If you don't know anyones name well enough to take the time to email and ask then you've no business with it anyway. I'm going to start getting real narky if I see another boat of "where can I download this album" posts or any begging.

I hope this virus like spread doesn't affect any future business.

But on this album, he seriously considered finishing the songs strongly.

And how about Angels Come To Comfort You!! Absolutely beautiful song with an incredible ending! The ooh's from the heavenly angels!! I get a visual of an ending to a Herman Brood movie...the angels have taken him away..the ambulance sirens in the background. In a way it reminds me a bit of Where Is My Mind at the end of Fight Club.

The links to download Bluefinger are on many other message boards, so Bleufinger being on Soulseek is not a big surprise. Bluefinger has outgrown this board's reign, i guess.

Angel's come To Comfort You has been the biggest grower on me. When I first heard the album it was my least liked song by far and now has become one of my favorites. The ending is so hypnotizing. It really just relax's me. I also love the odd time signatures at the end. When it feels like it goes into the 3/4 time signature and back to 4/4. The chord strumming at the end is also just classic Frank.

The part that has grown on me the most though is the first half. I love the "They will lead you by the hand" part of the song.

I wonder what The Man thinks about all of this. He himself said he wanted to be underground. In the case with the Bluefinger leak -- it doesn't get anymore underground than this, unless he started making tapes with hand-drawn artwork for everyone. Oh wait, that's Daniel Johnston. In that case, I wonder what Johnston thinks about all of this.

Isala is the ancient name for the river Ijssel, which flows nearby the city of Zwolle.
Het Zwarte water (Black water, "dark water...") is a 19 km long river which is formed just south of the city of Zwolle.

And this is De peperbus ("Pepperbox...")

Bluefingers are the inhabitants of Zwolle.

Once upon a time the inhabitants of Zwolle sold out-of-tune churchbells to the city of Kampen.
The people from Kampen weren't very happy with their purchase and decided to 'pay them back.'
They paid the gigantic sum entirely with duiten.
The inhabitants of Zwolle ended up with blue fingers due to the endless counting of all the money.

(Duiten are ancient Dutch coins. 160 duit equal to one gulden (guilder))
