Anyone figure out the lyrics to Threshold Apprehension? Here's what I have so far:
Threshold Apprehension
Talk to a man just to get a little work Then you talk to the hand just to get a little jerk Some people die then they start to get old But I don’t wanna die upon on the threshold I got threshold apprehension
Threshold apprehension I got threshold apprehension
Every little shift gotta find me some lick If I don’t find my babe I’m gonna be jump sick Roll away the rocks so I can get to my ascension Ain’t my first time *on the threshold apprehension* I got threshold apprehension…What?
Threshold apprehension I got threshold apprehension
Who’s carrying who? Who’s turning the screw? Who has caused *** *** ****** *** *** *** I will be the whore And you’ll be my suicide
We got on my bike and we rolled to the sea I stood on the dock and you got on your knees Grand monet and a pocket full of speed We did it all day so we started to bleed
Are you feeling appre…hension?
*I can leap higher than an old king toad* I do 185 on the new ring road *I love a blue girl and I like my grog* It’s a black and white *** *** scope of your dog
I’ll drink *** ***Elevator door Come a time when you wanna lose attention It’s the last time on the threshold apprehension I got threshold apprehension Say what?
Threshold I got threshold apprehension Threshold

Not sure on those but i think they might be close, i have absolutely no idea what he is saying in the 4th line of the chorus. |

Herman last wish was to be flamed with Grand Marnier. There was a bottle of it on his coffin.

I find it a bit easy to put an old movie with few edits. It looks arty but it's not. The only funny one is "your mouth into mine". It looks like she's riding in rythm.
At least people can listen to the songs for free without downloading it. |

I'm definately not bringing this up as a knock against the album or anything. Actually, I rather like it when it happens. It's almost bridging the old with the new.
Yes. I'm glad I'm not the only one to have felt some feeling of déjà entendu -- and it's not negative at all! It's like deliberate on his part, maybe.
I'm I the only one to link Rubber with the Breeders and Can't Break a Heart... with Sonic Youth?
At first Test Pilot Blues reminded me of Raider Man, the live version with Feldman and Block. Now this feeling has completly disapered. Maybe because I think Test pilot Blues is a better song (even if I already liked a lot Raider Man). This makes me think that Frank brought back a lot of nuggets from his trips into country, blues, soul and "cabaret", and now on Bluefinger, back to his post punk roots, he brings all his nuggets back home ! Then, who could say now that Honeycomb and FMRM were not "experimental" ? "Experimental" doesnt mean you sound like Sonic Youth, it means you try new things ! |

It makes more sense - I just don't think it sounds like he says 'junk' - really sounds like it ends in a 'p' sound, to me anyway...
And I'm sure he says 'Are you feeling apprehensive?' Not 'apprehension'. Partly cos it makes more sense, but mainly cos that's how it sounds. |

Cos I post too much. I'm trying to cure myself from being a big mouth. Gee, I'm very tempted to erase this one too !
My previous post was about soulseek, is it good or bad for Bluefinger to be soulseeked? I actually can only find good points: It could make the hype around it, as it is a fantastic album, and also more in the way that most people expect from the pixies leader. Maybe some younger ones that dont care about the cd format wont buy it because they caught it on soulseek, but would have they buy it after the release anyway ? And finally, it could hurry the record company to make it to the stores before that depressing autumn release date. The same day that the best of would be great, so the new fans can already buy a new batch of songs as good (if not better) as anything on the best of! Bad points: there surely are some but I cant find them! Yes I got one: the fans with no money at all: having already listened to the mp3, they'll save their few pennies left to buy some bread and a box of peas. (just kidding, they will surely buy the record and die from starvation) |

I would say bad because I don't believe the original leaker wanted this public or he would have made it so in the first place. The people that have been sharing it have been to doing so with the promise that it wouldn't be widely leaked.
I know the Man is busy with his old band and all, but we haven't heard anything really official about the leak either. At least with Honeycomb and FM/RM they were well aware that it had been widely leaked and didn't seem to have too much of a problem with it.

I've had the album without asking, and without any explication or warning (it was during one of the brief general leaks). I feel strange because I wish it was in stores right now so I could talk about how good it is to all my old friends that ceased to be interested in Frank Black new releases since the Cult Of Ray! Well, I guess I can talk to them anyway. But I dont feel like giving them a song, because: 1-It's a concept album, you have to listen from 1 to 11 (and it's not too long for that) and better with the sleeve and notes, like in the good old vynil times. 2-I fear they wont buy it later! |

You should hear how hard "Threshold Apprehension" rocks, TheScooper. It's like a return to "Trompe Le Monde." And the way his voice cracks with emotion on "Angels Come to Comfort You" and the title track. Oh, and the brilliant bass throughout nearly every song. And the way the songs all end even stronger than they begin. And Violet's vocals that are made of honey. But maybe you should just wait ...
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Well, yeah. It got leaked to me, and it makes me very happy. And I've shared it with some friends, all of which have bought everything the Man has ever done.
It just feels like a betrayal to me if someone were to put it on soulseek. My opinion.
People who are regularly on this board in general are going to buy the album anyway, so I say share away, but keep it in the family so to speak.

Also, thanks very much to coastline for nailing the Herman Brood concept thing.
I told you that I loved the album at first anyway, not knowing a thing about what it was about.
But it's s much richer of an experience now that I've read the history, seen the art, and heard the music of Brood.
I think watching the video of his band doing "You Can't Break A Heart And Have It" was the key for me. Thanks to everyone that has posted the youtube clips of Brood!

I was about to say I agree but the previous post disapeared. Now I would have to check somewhere else how to spell that godamn "Treesolhd" word (really hard to remember for a french, what does it means by the way)! Well, anyway that's good to know that someone else is much more impressed by Tight Black Rubber than the first two song. To me the first two songs just clean up my ears very well, like a Motorhead single. Then begins the real masterpiece, from Test Pilot Blues to Bluefinger.
And also, that's true that knowing a bit about Brood and watching his own version of heart makes you listen the album much better. Before that I stupidely thought the lyrics where a pastiche of fake rock'n'roll attitudes, those young rock bands that choose a junky look and expressions like they're having orgasms.
... Hey what's the matter, all the posts are disapearing!? Is the "I FUCK YOU" flowaway virus leaker thing eating us alive right now? |

Could be, but since he sings 'If I don't find my babe' just before 'jump/junk sick' and he mentions 'roll away the rock' in the next line it makes more sense to me if he sings 'jump sick' Here's why: 'Roll away the rock' = rock and roll Rock and roll is originally a slang phrase for having sex jump sick = can't wait for a shag!

"junk sick" is a withdrawl term http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=junk+sick
i think the rock in "roll away the rock" is heroin (or crack) .. "roll away the rock so i can get to my ascension"
it seems to make more sense since they were junkies and the whole album is filled with drug references, but i could be wrong
