Looking like full-band from the titles we have been blessed with seeing. Those songs were done with a full band on the Fall 2006 US/Canada tour. Hopefully the version of "Suffering" will make it on there. |

I want full band of Dead Man's Curve. And the fabled studio version too. Or else I'll cry again.
Euh... voui les problèmes existentiels on connaît, surtout depuis ce lâche abandon par la Métropole en 1763. Depuis on se venge en vous envoyant des floppées de "chanteuses à voix". ;-) |

Let's do this a bit faster...
1 Bullet 2 Nadine 3 Remake/Remodel 4 Living on soul 5 Burnt out rock'n roll 6 Been all around the world 7 Six sixty six 8 Horrible day 9 (Do what you want) Gyaneshwar ...
By the way, it seems everyone does the mistake, but it's CPL593H, nt A.

Wait, what label is putting it out in the US?
And yes, all of these tracks might be from the tour last Fall (with the Billy Block-Duane Jarvis-Eric Drew Feldman band). So far every song mentioned was in their set. |

pffff! a bit of a let down, to be honest. With so much great Black material in the vaults and they release 9 live songs (which I presume are brilliant though) on every edition. What about those great demos. There must be more christmass-like material. What about all those great podcast demos-I rather have them than 9 live songs. I rather see a real show.

I share your disappointment, Jop, but it must be stressed that "Christmass" is a present to long-time, die-hard fans, while "FB 93-03", like any compilation, is essentially aimed at newbies...

I think the bonus discs look just fine. It's a bonus disc. The could've not added anything to the comps and I'd rather have these than nothing.
Remember that if you had other expectations for the bonus disc, those expectations were artificial. It's not like Frank himself or the record label announced a bonus disc collecting rarities "from the vaults" and then didn't come through. OUR information about the bonus came second or third-hand and in slightly inaccurate form. If you had no idea about it, you'd probably think these were pretty cool.
Rule of thumb: When it comes to new releases, never believe ANYTHING until you hear it straight from a record label. Don't believe the release dates from Amazon; don't believe what someone on an internet board says; half the time, don't even count on what the artist themself says. Sure, get excited about it, but have it in your mind that it also might not be true. |

lot's of response!
Haha, don't want to sound like a Frank-basher. But my expectations are always high, without any info about releasedates, bonusdiscs and other things. that's the whole part of being an uber-fan. So to speak. You want more than what's commercial interesting for artists and companies. and I never got the whole let's add another disc with a few songs on it. Ok, 9 songs are more than 4. But if you add another disc and you have lots of material lying around, I would be lying if I said that I wouldn't want it on it. Even if I was a newbie, I'm more attracted to quantity than what's a nice bonus. Still a bit dissapointed, but it's no biggie. It's nice for some people who still think that he was a lousy opening act for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and don't understand why he's not Black Francis anymore (little do they know).

The bonus discs rock. Many versions are better than the originals in my opinion... I mixed 4 concerts and picked the best stuff, almost all from a show in Pennsylvania, with a killer Dog Gone and Swimmer from Regina. Had to follow orders to make them 30 mins., but I give you the shortest at 32 mins...

I reckon that you had to make them 30 min. because it's cheaper/less expensive to press a cd of 30 minutes than, say, 70 minutes?

Thanks for the info Ben. I am still unsure whether these live tracks are acoustic or full band? I'm assuming all full? Can BM or someone confirm please... cheers.

Yeah, 30 minute CD's are less'n half the cost of 80 minute ones. Duh...quote: Originally posted by billgoodman

I hate it when multiple editions of the same thing are released. For some reason it seems to me that somebody, somewhere is just trying to make a few extra quid from obsessive fans. Or have I got it wrong? Why exactly is there three editions?

Yeah, why 3 editions? Is it expected that someone is going to buy 3 double CDs? Any rabid fan tempted to do that will already have everything on the main best-of CD. I might be tempted to buy a double CD if the bonus CD seems worth it, but that's not happening if it's a mini-CD.
That all being said, I loved Christmass. |

The 3rd is pulled from Europe and US material but Japan traditionally gets bonus tracks (don't know why) and thus, the 3rd edition. Sorry for misrepresenting.quote: Originally posted by darwin

Japan gets bonus tracks because, in Japan, domestic Japanese CDs are more expensive than imported CDs (from America, Europe, etc.). Bonus tracks help them to compete with the cheaper imports.

on a more amateuristic scale, places like www.kunaki.com let you press cd's with no boundaries in time, all at the same cost. I know you can do anything against it, but it's just a capitalistic system. Don't know if all pressing companies have those rules. I'm gonna stop complaining, just one more suggestion: what about a special website with bonus material. That would be great. Wait a minute, www.frankblack.net is that website!
