Is "Fort Wayne" really floating around, or is this some joke that's gotten way out of hand?

Hey guys, check out PixieSteve's post... He's been kind enough to put it out there.... it's been there right before your eyes...
I think these things only have 500 downloads, so you better "act quick" so they say.

Aaaaaaah. Maybe if I was a bit more of a regular on the forum I'd pick up on things like that. It seemed pretty random. Okay. Then I'm glad you like that phrase.

And it's now my desktop background. Yeesh.
Actually it's Joe Thornton sporting his new "Magnum P.I." mustache. Any hockey fans here? Have you seen Joe Thornton's mustache? All I can think is that he either lost a bet or wants to get people off their game because they are laughing so hard.

At first, I thought that was Frank's voice at the top. My wife thinks it's two tracks of Frank's voice backing his regular one. My ears aren't good enough to hear that. I still can't hear the double voice in the song "Dog in the Sand" that other people have pointed out.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Wow you're frightening me like a spy during the cold war. OK I deleted my enthousiatic post. I burnt my computer. I'll try to get that men in black thing to erase my brain. Is that OK ?
You just made me laugh.
My post wasn't directed at you. It seemed like everybody who asked for the mp3 got the mp3, and your post was the natural conclusion. You asked/you recieved. The end. Now lock the thread and delete before one posters start asking for the track that's not suppose to be heard yet. All discretion has flown out the window and I just thought it was time to stop the snowball getting any bigger.
I read your post and you were so right, by the way.
And this post is directed at you, save any confusion. |

OK! Like somebody wrote me, people like me who doesnt speak emglish as first language dont get all the subttlities, but I agree that you guys should have a good look at who get the song, cos that article on the other thread will surely bring some curious minds. Anyway, everything depends on what Frank and Violet want. If they want it to make some noise or stay around the forum. |

i could be wrong, but it seems to me that Frank must have been ok with this track "leaking". i mean, as soon as you start sharing the song with people you can pretty much guarantee it's going to be on the internet. it's not like he said "do not share this".. i think it's Frank's way of testing the waters and getting some feedback on this project..

This song is beautiful! I love the layered vocals. Violet sounds so sweet... I can't wait to hear more of her voice. I love singing along to the 'in my heart, in my heart, in my heart' part. Someone said Teenager-esque. I thought that too. Reminds me of that time more than any other but, at the same time, sounds brand new. I've listened to this constantly since I got it and I'm not even close to being tired of it yet!
I also want to add that there's a guitar part in there that reminds me of Joey S. AND...(one of the things I LOVE about Frank Black) you can count on the fact that the rest of the CD will be just as good. I have NO doubt. |

Well, I'd have to say that I'd be very interested to hear more fruits from this project. Nice to hear FB returning to more layered production; it's something he does just as well as stripped down stuff. |

Yes, it's a big change in the style and in the production. Very very nice surprise. It actually so far from FMRM than I hardly can beleave it's realy him. But the thread "most unusual FB song" already dug that. |

Wow - sounds really, really interesting! I just love how each new project/batch of songs has an element of surprise. Just last night, I was listening to "Radio Lizards.." a bunch of times and finding myself amazed - where the hell does the inspiration come from? |

Though I respect you greatly, floop, I think you might be wrong on a couple counts here. 1. The track isn't exactly on the Internet yet. It's been shared by e-mail, yes, but I don't think any of the links in this thread actually work, so it's not exactly up for free, unlimited distribution. 2. I learned some time ago not to try to read The Man's mind, so I wouldn't want to try to guess whether or not any of this is OK with him.
All that said, I do feel silly questioning floop, whom I consider one of the masters of the FB forum domain.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

like i said at the beginning, i could be wrong, but if i had to put my money on it, i'd say that Frank must have known this track would get out there. not trying to "read The Mans mind" or put words in his mouth. or say it's "ok".. just speculating.. (what's the harm in that?)
in this day and age, if you really don't want something to get leaked, you wouldn't give it to anyone. Frank learned that lesson with Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day.
as for it not being on the internet. isn't that how everyone here got the track? i didn't say anything about being an official internet release. just, on the internet. which it now is
again, i only speculate. i could be wrong. but i could be right (that would be a cool lyric for a song)
lost in the grain. you know what i'm sayin? |

floop could be wrong, floop could be right. He could be black, he could be white. He's got a hot wire to his head, cuz of the things he's done and said.
Again, I feel silly for questioning you, dude, but I do differentiate between sharing amongst friends (albeit electronically) and something being on the Internet. Still, it's gonna show up as a download any minute now, I'm sure. And then everything I said will be moot, if it isn't already.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

I thought we should try to get the lyrics down for "Fort Wayne." Thanks to Denis for the French part, and the translation. Here's what I've got, but I'm not sure about a few words. I really like the part that's basically in limerick form, though the rhyming scheme goes ABBAA, rather than the traditional AABBA. Oh, and I threw in the la-las because I love them, not because they're really lyrics. They make the song for me.
Once I was playin’ Down in Fort Wayne Lost in the grain You know what I’m sayin’? But like I was sayin’ The kids were swayin’ To a rock and roll beat Confused in the wheat(?) From all the doom-sayin’ And all the egg-layin’
La la la la La la la la La la la la La la la la La la la la La la la la La la la la La la la la La la la la La la la la La la la la
Once we were kissin’ Hair(?) in the crowd They cheered so loud They’d come to listen They thought we’d gone missin’
I can’t decide Do I confide These things In my heart, in my heart, in my heart
Vous vous rappelez Dans la vie de ??? Que nous avons Embrasse tout la nuit Il etait si grand Extasy pure Je ne l'oublierai Un moment si parfait Vous etes celui Le seul pour moi *
Once I was playin’ Down in Fort Wayne Lost in the grain You know what I’m sayin’? But like I was sayin’ The kids were swayin’ To a rock and roll beat Confused in the wheat From all the doom-sayin’ And all the egg-layin’
My hands are tied I must confide These things In my heart, in my heart, in my heart
* Translation of the French part: Do you remember In ??? That we kissed all night long It was so big Pure extasy I'll never forget Such a perfect moment You're that one The only one for me
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |
