Good luck, trobianders.

Had more filling work done yesterday. I could have gone for white rather than silver fillings, but it's at the back of my teeth, anyway. Also had and adhesive filling done on a chipped tooth. One more session of filling work, then I can get my crowns done.

So, I've just got back from the dentist and need to go back for a plastic coating (or something like that) on one of my teeth to prevent me needing a filling in the future. Could've been worse, I suppose. It was a quick appointment too. It must've been about 10 minutes including getting there and back (I live just across the road).

That reminds me of the story about an old woman with terrible arthritis. She had no bathroom in her home and had to go to an outhouse just across the road. It took her two hours to reach it and another two hours to return home. This was her daily routine. A film maker filmed her making the trek.

Had my teeth smoothed down and casted for the crowns today. I was surprized to find that it was a lengthy session, with a lot of drill work without anesthetic, and foul-tasting stuff to get the cast of my teeth! Had been having some pain in my gums, turns out I had a bit of food stuck in a gum pocket. I'm getting the crowns done in about a month!

This has been an interesting read. I need to go and have my teeth cleaned soon. My dentist always tells me i brush my teeth too hard. He says to brush them softer, but i just don't feel like i brush them good unless i scrub them. Anyway, I have only had one cavity in my life so i must be doing something right.

Just wait, now that i said that i will have a mouthful of cavities the next time i go. That is how life goes for me these days.

I had 1 wisdom tooth removed on Monday. It took 1.5 hours. The feckin' thing had all these long twisty roots, so they yanked my skull back and forth for a while. The bacteria around the decayed part caused some infection in my heart area, so I'm on the 'cillin right now. Shit.
Anyway, it's good to see you others suffering just as much. I did get some generic vicodin, but I'll probably trade that to some college kids for cash.

God, sounds awful, Johnny. I'm getting all four wisdom teeth removed on friday, so that should be exciting, at least they're going to knock me out, so I won't be awake for the procedings. :(

I had my wisdom teeth cut out when i was 17. My face swelled up and I was supposed to go to this wonderful theme park in Nashville (that is no longer there, what a shame) a couple of days later. i cant remember what the name of the drug they gave me, but i was determined i was going to opryland. It was hard but i did it and had a great time. btw kfs was with me on that trip. i will have to ask her if she remembers.

Er, yeah I suppose that's too much detail!! Actually, a bit of the temporary crown came off when I had a late-night snack yesterday. It feels a bit jagged, may have to pop back in to get in fixed up.

Johnny, that's sounds nasty! Hope you're on the mend.

I've got like half a tooth on one side of my mouth. It was jagged for a while so I had to get it smoothed down. It's always getting bits of food stuck in it, it's so annoying!

Thanks for the kind words. Good luck, Luis. All 4, eh? Stockpile some pudding.
A theme park would almost be great right now. I've finally stopped looking like the Elephant Man. I'll be milking this "only eat pudding" thing for as long as I can.
Usually my teeth are great. Floss, listerine, brush and all that. But this STUPID wisdom tooth was impacted and only partially exposed. Bacteria got into some areas around it (that I couldn't access to clean) & fucked me up.
I did get a good DVD about squirrels. Reviews to come.

Thanks, Johnny. The procedure itself was painless, and it only took a half and hour, I'm in a bit of pain, but the warm embrace of percocets has taken the edge off. So now I'm ice-ing my aching mouth, and listening to the mellow sounds of Honeycomb. Hopefully my face won't balloon too much, I've got mid-term exams on Monday, and I don't want to be a shambling Frankenstein for those.

Oh, and I have enough apple sauce, pudding, cottage cheese, and yogurt to last me through the weekend.

Alright, so. I got dry socket (blood clot didn't form near the bone), so they just packed my stink hole with some medicated herb stuff. That sucked, but apparently it's healing up nicely.
REVIEW: Squirrel Wars... And How To Win Them, DVD. This movie was excellent. It was a 44 minute PBS production, was narrated by a crazy old man w/ great facial hair and a great rootsy voice.
The movie had a lot of footage of squirrels jumping around and doing really cool acrobatics, but it also showed different measures people had devised to keep squirrels from eating their bird seed. This segment was the best, since it was basically squirrel torture. Seeing them roll off of soda bottles and fall 10ft was enjoyable, as was seeing them freak out when they're climbing a pole and get to a slinky. BUT, the best part was the fellow who devised a way to electrocute them. Didn't kill them, but the shock would make them jump about 5 feet in the air and fall another 10ft. Great.
The segue between topics would be some bad computer generated graphics with a squirrel in the middle. With "Chipmunks" styled vocals, the squirrel would say some silly thing.
Lots of unsubstantiated facts were quoted, and the different types of squirrels were covered. So, it was a good watch. Nice and short.
In other news, I had 2 of the vicodin w/ beer last night and got real fucked up. Ended up cruising through youtube. Good times.
This stuff they packed in my mouth really tastes awful.

What scene was that in? I don't remember.
Before the US got the nuke bombs working, they had bats that had nalpam bombs surgically attached to their bodies. The idea was to release the bats from a plane over a city. The bats would find shelter in/on the buildings and hide out. The bombs had timers, and would go off in whatever time period was set, thereby destroying whatever places the bats were hiding out. It was tested, it worked, but was never implemented due to the nukes.
Um, bats are kind of like squirrels... yeah.

I love the dentist...a very close family friend is my dentist, and my mum used to be her dentist nurse, so going was never any problem for me.

That and the fact between thae ages of about 11-16 iwas barely out of a dentist chair. Ive had a ridiculous amount of teeth taken out (i think between 10 - 14 - couldnt widen my jaw any more, and had too many teeth. had 7 at one time and had to go to hospital and be put under - took them out before they came through! also for some reason i LOVE the injections in the gum!), had my jaws widened, teeth moved...everything you could think ive had.

Not had any fillings though, but deperately need a new appointment as im pretty sure i need some. plus want to get them whitened and they are all chipped as i grind my teeth in the night (and they still dont sit together properly), so need to get em straightened up too.

In fact i still have a brace - at the back of my bottom teeth. Apparently they will all move if i take it out (which i cant cos its fixed) so apparently i have to wear it for the rest of my life. fuck that, im gonna get it off!

After all that, you still like going to the dentist? That's either called sadism or masochism. I always get the two confused.

ha, quite possibly!

I think of it like this - most fears are born because of the unknown, or lack of understanding, or others having control etc etc.

There is hardly anything the dentist can do to me that has not been done, i know a fair amount about dentistry (when my mum worked there i used to have to after school and wait til she finished to get home...all i read was dentistry magazines and books), so know what needs to be done, whats getting done, and its a close friend i have known for over 15 years doing it!

I also have quite a high pain barrier...and do quite like pain when i can feel it. especially pain like injections - it makes me all tingly!
