got my wii yesterday (friday), had some friends around, we had a few drinks and played wii sports all night which was lots and lots of fun
i couldn't get a spare wii remote anywhere or a copy of wii play- but we still had fun on the bowling and baseball
I also got super moneky ball (main game is class, as are a decent percentage of the mini games), rayman raving rabbids (a bit frustrating, but i think it will take a little while to get used to) and zelda (haven't played it, as i want to spend a full day on it)
my mates were so impressed with the wii that they are both going to try and get one for christmas

Has anyone come encountered a syncing problem with the remotes yet? I exited out of Wii Play today through the home button, and when i arrived back at the main console menu the two remotes weren't synced up anymore. There was no cursor onscreen, and no matter what button I pressed on the remote, nothing would happen. I pressed the sync buttons on the console and controllers, nothing happened, so i tried it a few times, and again, nothing. I had to press reset and load up again, then it was working fine
I noticed that every time you return to the main menu the blue lights at the bottom of the remote go off, then on again, as if they have to re-sync. But this time they failed to do it

Nope, never seen that. I have another remote coming though, and then who knows...

My friend got his and it freezes on all his games. He has to take it back now. I did warn him.

You're seeing that with your primary remote, s_w?? I know the secondary ones go offline when not in use to conserve juice but I've never had that happen with remote 1.

I downloaded the upgrade yesterday, and i havent tried out the same scenario again (just to see if there is a difference)
Even if the second remote isnt in use the first remote will flash off, then on again From what i can remember it only does it when you return th the main menu through the home button. Literally when the screen goes black, and you can hear the wii restarting (it sound like it turns itself off then on again judging by the fan noise)

Ok, so i switch it on, pop in a disc, go to the disc channel and hit start, i leave the room to go get a glass of water, i come back (a minute or two later) and the screen is black. The blue light is off on the remote and neither of them will sync. I press reset on the console, nothing happens. I press eject and the disc comes out, i try reset again and nothing happens, the same goes for the power button. So i ended up having to plug out the mains and starting all over again. Everything works fine this time.
I tried out the whole "exit to home" thing again and the same thing happens with the blue lights. Only now it happens faster, during the new load screen (grey wii channel screens flashing across the screen instead of the plain black screen from before)

When i think about it, i've had quiet a few problems with it. Which is annoying considering i only have since last friday. But as long as i dont get disc read errors or freezing, or wiiconnect bricking, it'll be fine.
Anybody download virtual console games yet? I got the original zelda. I might get donkey kong country, but i'll have to get a classic controller for that

I grabbed Sonic for my little sister, and might grab Bomberman as I missed out entirely on that series - but I leave soon and am trying to finish the new Zelda which should be difficult enough as it is.

I think I have been pretty lucky, not had any problems with my wii at all, I downloaded sonic for my girlfriend and wario woods just to have a mess around on
the rumour is that the web browser should be available 23rd of december and will be free until july, and i think i read somewhere that the forecast channel will be up on the 20th of dec, but news channel not until late jan
best bowling score- 255, i got seven strikes in a row, which made me do more than a little dance

I've made it to the prestigious class of tennis 'pro' and got bronze, silver, or gold (once) in all the training except for boxing where you have to hit the targets and not the trainer. Boxing had a lot of potential but I find it too flaky.

Boxing is a ton of fun with friends, but the vs. comp mode is sorta flaky, you are correct sir.

BTW, a good thing you didn't wait last night - I was at work straight until 1 AM. :/
The worst part is I thought I'd solved it and I came back this morning to discover it's intermittent.
I'll have to try the multiplayer now that I have a second (and third and fourth) remote.

Has anyone played a game of tennis with someone who DOESN'T use the wrist strap? I have and it’s scary. I thought i was going to (a) get my teeth knocked out, or (b) have a broken remote/tv. Over zealous swinging isn't necessary. I was almost tempted to use the popular internet buzz-word "n00b"
Also, i got my mother to have a go at the baseball. She said the wii was "lovely"

Not necessary, but half the fun is swinging like it's real. Still, wrist strap = a must.

Tennis is awesome. I am a pro in tennis, golf, and bowling. I haven't played much baseball or boxing because my friend only has one controller and baseball seems more fun 2 player.
My current best at 9-hole golf is -5. My friend has me beat at -7. Wii rented Madden the other night and it is pretty awesome. |

Finally got one today. Picked up Zelda, Rayman and Metal Slug. Anyone else played Rayman yet? Pretty sweet.

I played it for the first time tonight. The sports games are fun, although way better in multi-player. Can't decide which is my favourite at the moment.
Hoping to have a go at Call Of Duty tomorrow. I always complete it on the PC so I am hoping the controller for the Wii will add a new dimension.

New straps are being made for the wiimote. Can't wait to get mine. Just got COD3 for 360. I couldn't hold out. Zelda will be first for the wii. Of course. |

How much money does 500 points equal? I have yet do anything with the VC or anything, don't know if it's worth buying the classic controller and then paying for the games on top of it.

500 points = €5.00(Eur) £3.50(UK) $7.50(Aus) $6.25(Can) ¥500(Jap) $5.00(US)
Wii Points
You can buy them on your wii with a credit card or buy them in a shop and input a code at the wii shopping channel. Buying online seems to be a way better option. You can buy 1000, 3000, or 5000 (for €10, €30, and €50) points online. I think you can only have €100 worth of points on your wii at any time. I was in HMV last week and they were selling 2000points for €39.99! Double what you should have to pay! Get points online people!

I bought Sonic, you can use the wii remote for it. Would I pay for a browser, probably not. I might try it out for free though when they first offer it.

Out of interest, what wii games are people looking forward to in 2007? (Try listing them without mentioning Mario Galaxy, Metroid3 or SBB)

My brother got one for his Christmas. I played it Christmas Day. He's got Wii Sports, Red Steel and Zelda. Red Steel and Zelda don't interest me whatsoever, but Wii Sports I like. Look forward to him getting some Mario games though. I can see the novelty wearing off quite quickly, though.

I'll be sticking with the PS2 for now. Until all the new consoles are a bit cheaper at least. I've always loved both my original playstation (which is still in my bedroom) and my PS2 so if I'm going to get any it looks like it'll be the PS3. Or is a Wii better than a PS3?
