i pre-ordered mine in the summer, can't wait for dec 8th... and they are having a leg of the wii tour in manchester on the 6th of dec, so i shall be popping down there to have a little play with my new toy

Apparently a lot of people are sending them back due to technical difficulties. Sounds like the X-Box 360 launch all over again.

Nintendo says the wiiconnect24 problem will be fixed before the EU launch (It's KILLING Wii's). But there's still the huge disc read error problem to face.
I was dying to get Red Steel, but i'll have to pass on it now that it sucks balls.
Has anybody here with a Wii made their Mii yet?
There's an online version of the mii creator here(It's missing a few features from what i can see, but it's still fun t do)

Not yet. I tried the Wii Sports package last night with some friends over - interesting though I thought it came with two remotes. Playing against the computer isn't much fun in tennis and baseball. It serves as a good demo for what the controller can do but you definitely need two controllers. I think I'll go pick up Zelda today.

| I made a Mii of myself on my friends Wii last night. It was kind of really fun just doing that. Does suck it doesn't come with two controllers. Haven't all Nintendo systems come with 2 controllers until now? |

Initially, nearly ever console will only ever ship with one.
Nunchuks and remotes are sold separately from each other, which sucks

it doesn't really suck. if you only need one part for a particular game, it's good you can buy them separately. what does suck though is the fact that if you buy both they're pretty expensive

even if you don't need the nunchuk for ever game, it should come included with the remote.
There are currently more games that require the nunchuk, than just remote games...

My fiance and i are debating getting one. We don't play video games all that much, but this system just seems like so much fun - in my opinion, it reminds me of the old systems i loved so much, and not the insanely-graphics based and cut-scenes dominated market that exists now. Wii Sports alone is worth the purchase price.

| nintendo will always be the most fun in my book. I remember getting an NES system for christmas around 1989. Wow, the memories of duck hunt and super mario bros. The only other system I've had outside of nintendo is a Playstation. Other than that I've had NES, SNES, and gamecube. I want a Wii.. |

| Like Sega and their Dreamcast, they kind of fell behind at some point-I was thinking the Nintendo Dolphin kind of disappeared, but just Googling it now, it seems that was the early name for the Gamecube, which did okay, but never seemed to be as popular as Playstation and Xbox. Of course, along with Atari they set the scene for future games consoles, and deserve to be lauded just for Super Mario Bros!! |

they fell behind in terms of popularity, in the n64 era, but their first party games have been consistently great. and they're actually making a lot more profit than either sony or microsoft's gaming divisions (actually, not too sure but i think i read they were more profitable than the whole of sony). so they'll be around for a while :D
sega really have gone downhill though, the latest sonic game has been getting some terrible reviews :(

Yeah, Mario 64 seems underrated in the Mario realm, but I think it's one of my favourites, up there with Mario 3. Actually, although Mario 3 has nostalgia appeal and a lot of cool features, I definitely had more fun with Mario 64. I'm not one to go all out and get every secret, but I finished the game with the full 120 stars.

I finally got my hands on a second Wiimote, though I forgot to factor in the conversion from US$, meaning I paid too much by a fair margin.

Some shops have marked up the price of the wii by €30, with at least €5 added to the wiimote, nunchuk and classic controller.
I'll be picking up Wii Play since it's being sold for around €50 (€10 cheaper than other wii games) plus it comes packaged with a wiimote.

Well I woke up at 4:30 AM yesterday to go wait at Walmart to hopefully finally get a Wii. And got screwed out of one yet again. Seems like the gods just don't want me to have this thing.

I ended up coming home with just the console (wii sports included), there was one shop in town that had wii play in store (GAME) but they would only sell it to people with pre-orders there. So i'll have to wait. Wii sports is great fun, i think i found a trick to hitting the ball way out every time by using a very slight wrist movement near my face, but i have to work on it some more.
I might pick up monkey ball tomorrow.
Has anyone hooked up theirs with component cables yet?
