And i'm really spoiled rotten. Two acoustic solo shows here next Saturday, then 2 months later, 2 band shows, all within a very short distance of my home. This next 2 month span is also peppered with various other great shows (Nels Cline/Glenn Kotche, the Bad Plus, Neko Case/Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens, Ted Leo/Pharmacists) and i just got back from the Pitchfork fest - again, i'm really spoiled rotten.

They do solo sets, then a joint set. Cline is one of my favorite guitarists alive, and i've seen Kotche do his solo drum thing before, and it is intense and wonderful.

I read (on Chicagoist, I think) that the Kotche solo performance is... well less positive than what you worte.
As for it being a great time to be a music fan, it would be appear to be for you Mr. I live in the American northeast. Although I shouldn't complain too much, I'm seeing Feist on sunday and could be seeing Wolf Parade/Frog Eyes (if I weren't seeing Feist).

| That is true, and it's been three years since I've seen Frank solo, so I'll go wherever he's playing at this point. It's just the fake ambiance, the constant barrage of ads from all angles, and the expensive beer that puts me off 'em mostly. And if they're running a "club night" after the show, you can forget about an encore... |

Nope, they're with the band. They start rehearsing in San Fran on the 26th and tour thereafter.

Ach, I don't know. This is getting a bit depressing.
I mean, Frank seems to stop at every market place in the USA and Canada to play his solo stuff. All interested UK-citizens are flown in for free to see him play in Tennessee. And after that, Frank is going to live in France.
Good for everyone. Happy, cheerfull posts wherever you look.

Anyone having trouble accessing ticketmaster? Both the Canadian and US sites seem to be down. Either that, or I made up "ticketmaster" and neither of those sites actually exist. One hopes for the latter.
