Just got mine too! Saw him with the Catholics back in New Haven, CT years ago! Yes! Can't wait. Any confirmation if this is an acoustic show?

I'm pretty certain this whole tour is solo acoustic.

Got tix :)

I'm assuming there will be no backup band since he's opening acoustic for the Poo Fighters on 8/21. Maybe Dave Grohl will show up as a hired-hand drummer? Ha. Anyway, Southpaw is a good space for a FB show. It's kinda rowdy for an acoustic show though. Hope he brings his Fenders and tube amps!

Guys, this show is on my birthday -- and I couldn't ask for a better present in the whole fucking world! I'm so psyched. Seems like forever since I've seen the man. And in Reid's own backyard, its gonna be awesome! And to think I was this ][ to getting a 50 dollar Foo ticket just to see Frank.

Very curious as to the set-up -- his Fez show was all him but in a much more night-clubby environment (tables), though the Mercury Lounge with him and Morris Tepper was awesome too -- maybe he'll have one guitarist to help out? Either way I'm incredibly excited. See you all there!

tickets just landed -- its cool and sorta nostalgic to just see "FRANK BLACK" on the ticket (sans "& the Catholics") -- really feels like a new beginning.

the southpaw site has a second show listed for the night of August 19th, so now there's a second show at 11:30 -- I wonder how different the sets will be. Now I must decide what to do!

WTF! Looks like I might have to go to both shows. I wish I had know about the midnight show, I would have bought that instead. You think they're gonna clear the bar after the first show? I expect they will.

"The former Pixies leader tours in support of his latest solo release, the sprawling, double-disc Fast Man Raider Man, which finds the alt-rock innovator trying out a country, Americana-tinged sound."

it's strange to read comments like this. is frank from spain?

made up my mind about the second show. i wont go and pizza is why. i have found over the years that one slice is better than two.
when i buy two slices i eat the first while eyeing the second.

I'm going to both shows. If i'm already there, might as well stay. I'll crash at my friends' place in Queens and all is good in the world.

I'm starting to do my homework on what i have to do to try and record these shows. If the venue is cool i may try and mini-disc it.

Mr Frank Black, Just in case you read this... One request for the Brooklyn shows:

Big Red acoustic.

Ok one more request: In The Time of My Ruin

Although I'm sure whatever the setlist it's gonna be a great show (or shows).

Regards

sgc

Southpaw show one week away kids! :D

i'm about to get tickets for the FB w/ full band show, either at Warsaw in Brooklyn, or irving Plaza in the city... can't really do both. Any advise on which one to go for? I know Irving plaza is a pretty decent venue, never been to Warsaw.

Man, hard to believe the 19th is almost here. The Warsaw is pretty damn cool. It's A Polish VFW that has a cool little bar with great pours and Polish beer available. All sorts are hanging out in that area and then you just walk into another room and the hall is slightly smaller than Irving Plaza, another rectangle. I saw the Joe Jackson Band there a few years ago and we all thought it was a great place.

Allright Amigo, nice of you to remember this OLD Dude is getting OLDER!! I'll be going to the early show and a drink and a picture sounds like a great plan!!! I think there is another Jersey-ite with a Birthday also. Maybe we should get some "Hello My Forum Name is...." tags. I wish I could stay for both shows.

gotta say reid paley was great. he's got this new song about - it's not rain ? i forgot the correct tile. he played it twice once at each show. frank played songs twice two, even three times if you count dropping the song at some point because that happens. rabbit song dead man's curve big red living on soul i'll be blue nadine water song czar swimmer abstract plein raiderman...........
it's a helluv a thing to hang back and watch frank do what he does reid too.
great show.

i didnt really dig reid paley and he seemed dissapointed when frank was playing (Jealousy maybe) im not trying to diss the guy tho. i just wanted to come here to say that fitzgerald was amazing and also my terrible ways (didnt expect those) and i think he played abstract plain twice. raider man was great too and the swimmer, as a matter of fact the songs all kicked ass and i thought it was a very unpredictable setlist. It was also funny when frank had to switch guitars and he said "this guitar fucking sucks"-something among those lines. anyway it was an amazing show and like someone said in other topic "you shouldnt live w/o seeing frank solo". I also digged his solo version of holiday song. Really cant wait for franks new cd!!!!!!! i have some pics but theyre not that amazing. LATERS
