"Dallas" by Jimmy Dale Gilmore. I saw David Byrne cover it one and kept thinking "frank black could nail this song".
Speaking of David Byrne, maybe a Talking Heads cover... "This Must Be the Place" perhaps. |

I think Frank would blow Roky Erickson's If You Have Ghosts out of the proverbial ball park.
Neil Young's Computer Age would be cool too. As would Richard Thompson's Hard On Me. Don't Talk To Me About Work by Lou Reed...the list is endless I guess. Wouldn't mind hearing more traditional stuff either, say Railroad Boy/The Butcher's Boy, or basically anything by Doc Boggs, preferably Pretty Polly. |

A Territorial Pissings/Aneurysm/Love Buzz medley just to see if there really is a reason for Frank to sue Nirvana. |

Books about UFOs by Hüsker Dü. I think it would fit his "Nashville era" sound nicely. |

Here goes : Layed back song that would probably fit Frank : Atomic Swing - Carnival Stall
I would love to hear Rammstein - Mein Herz Brennt with the cool sound from the first FB album with english lyrics. |

Great idea. Also, They Suck by The Geraldine Fibbers. Or Found A Job by the Talking Heads. He could even put a bit of falsetto in there, it'd sound great.

Peace Frog - The Doors For some reason I can hear Frank doing that song.
Always keep this popular alien phrase in mind: An apple to the day maintains absent doctor. |

I would love to see Frank cover some songs off of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band album. Especially Isolation & Mother.

A cover Lennon's "Well Well Well" would be incredible. That song rocks like a beast and would be perfect for a Frank in a screamin' mood, preferably with the Catholics backing him - something along the style of "I Switched You". I can hear it! |

I’d love to hear more roxy music covers. Any of these:
Still falls the rain (A solo acoustic version ) My only love (Again, solo) Take a chance with me (Full band.)
I know there are better Roxy songs, but I can only imagine frank doing these ones

Today I've been hearing Golden Brown in my head but in Frank's voice. You're right it is absolutely true. I'm intrigued. Why can't you enjoy Show Me Your Tears? What's being so far East got to do with it?

'Witchita Lineman' by Glen Campbell. 'Live And Let Die' by Wings. Come to think of it, Frank should be commissioned to write the next Bond theme. |

Dear Trobrianders
Sometime in 2003 i was despairingly waiting for Show Me Your Tears to hit the stores in Austria, so i had the idea that it took them such a long time because they had to travel all the way from the U.S and G.B. (West) to Austria (East). But finally during 03 i got it!
The Stranglers were a really really great and innovative band especially in the late 70ies and early 80ies- i'm sure you agree anyway...

Yes and quite underrated nowaydays. I love talking heads too but they got much more attention from the disco punk revivals (raptures and co) than the stranglers, who where closer to that sound with The Raven and maybe Feline. Maybe the problem with the stranglers is all the music they did after Feline. |

I think it would be great if he did something by Richard Thompson, maybe "Calvary Cross" from I want to See the Bright Lights Tonight
And how 'bout Lou Reed's "A Gift"? I think it would be great to hear FB crooning "I'm just a gift to the women of this world".
Maybe the Modern Lovers song "Hospital" would be a good fit too.

Nice surprise to see so many Richard Thompson suggestions.
(It wouldn't be half bad if Pixies would open the Australian dates with a Charles/Kim duet of Wall Of Death.) |
