I don't THINK this has been posted elsewhere. And since there hasn't been news posted since 01/17, I figure this might be news to others as well. I accidentally discovered this 15 minutes ago in iTunes....
HotDamn, ProverbialCereal, I can't believe, it's here, thanks for the HUGE heads-up
I've just finished purchasing OMRFTH and now I'm purchasing and downloading SNAKE OIL...
(I've got all these songs and I love every one of them, Frank's B-Sides kick fuckin Ass, but I didn't pay The Man for most of them. I mean I would have paid Him for them if they were still available commercially. In fact I bought the SHOW ME YOUR TEARS EP from itunes last year. But, the remainder of these songs are just now being made available again.
Thanks Charles, I feel much better now that I've paid for these.!!!)

Hey, just found a small extra tid-bit in Ludwigshaffen...
...Frank counts down the beginning of the song in German...that count-down isn't on the "NADINE" UK Single version of Ludwigshaffen, the remainder of the recording sounds the same, but...

That's neat! Sounds worth it just for the German countdown. I haven't downloaded them yet; I'd rather buy them in store and get the CD artwork. Hopefully this isn't just an iTunes release.
Keep us posted if there is anything else new within these songs. I'd like to know.
I assume that this is the "catholics box set" that is supposed to be released March 14. (from the news posted 12/13/2005). I wonder if that street date for the physical album will change since it's already on iTunes.

Absolutely, ProverbialCereal, I'll post anything else new I find in the songs...
And, yeah, I know what you mean about the artwork, Very Nice!

Has any one heard this version of "Le Cigare Volant" before? It's not the one from SSMVGD. It's just an acoustic guitar and Frank singing (from the 30 second clip I heard).
"CHANGING OF THE GUARD" is without the incredible Bofoor at the beginning of the song from the "ALL MY GHOSTS" Single [and the extra CD from the Brown Album] where Rich or Dave or Frank scrapes their guitar pick down the strings and it makes this Most Beautiful sound, as if an old, rusty, spider-webbed, wooden door is being opened against it's will...
...oh well...

I nearly had a heart attack reading this. It's not supposed to be released on March 14th. March 14th 2005 is when we first heard about the box set.
WOW!!! I absolutely cannot wait until I can get home today and get this from itunes (I really think I'm going to get 'sick' and leave work early!) There are SEVENTEEN songs that I haven't heard yet! This feels like Christmas morning!!
I intend to get the CDs too (I like to see my Frank collection grow).
I'm looking into whether there will be any non-iTunes releases (before posting it as news) but I wouldn't hold my breath. I don't know that the boxset is still a go, either... give me 'til after lunch and I should have an answer.

Yes, Yes, Yes,...I too have experienced this euphoria and the anticipation thereof.
And you ain't gonna be disappointed when you get home kfs!
I got these a while back on some bootleg copy containing B-Sides from various singles (and I actually did commercially buy, e.g., through a retail outlet that I happened to find, some of the newer singles) and they kept me going last year while waiting for Honeycomb.
I've finally paid The Man for them this time, which makes me feel a helluva lot better.

I just found these messing about on the itunes store for the first time so I rushed right here to get the lowdown. It's awesome that this set is done and everything but I really hope it gets a CD release, I still don't think digital downloads are really worth it and would be gutted if this doesn't come out on CD, COME ON NEWS, I NEED TO KNOW!

Could someone pass comment on BELLE ISLE + SOME THINGS please. I think they're the only two I have not heard before. Would definitely prefer CD's versions over iTunes, mainly because I don't get iTunes.
(( I'm a Snake... cut in half 'cause I'm not the one you needed. ))
From the iTunes samples it sounds (I can't compare them right now) like lots of these cuts are from Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day (Constant Sorrow Man, Pan American Highway, Humboldt County Massacre, Angst and Sleep) which is good because I love that 'album' and it's great that they are getting a proper release (fingers crossed).
