That's true. I was more refering to an anti- "this forum sucks" or "all my friends have left the forum" thread that keeps coming up in different forms. I'm just sick of this one aspect of the forum.
I won't say any more in these sorts of threads on the issue. But if sucks so much: 1.) Leave 2.) Take a break 3.) Do something to make it "not suck"
Glad people are being positive and leading these projects. Thanks to Tre, Brian and COF for leading the charge turning the morale around. |

It is a good thing that people can critise the forum, though. I'm sure there are some forums where people get reprimanded by the mods for doing that. FB.Net is a democracy! :)

i have learnt in my 19 years that things are never as good as they used to be. it's nothing to do with nostalgia. it's called entropy

i don't think that's entirely true. i was threatened to have my account locked for making a comment that Dave could be more involved in the site.
i guess some types of criticism are more ok than others |

Not just any kind of fairy dust will work on a Frank Black forum. You need PIXIE dust!

any project(s) born from this thread, count me in.
So do you actually play that guitar or is it just for show? |

If there's anything I can do, I'd also like to help out. Unfortunately, I'm untalented.

we could also approach this in such a way as:
we get a pool of available musicians, a seperate pool of available visual artists, and a seperate pool of writers. then we pair off. if tre wants to write, i want to play and deaner wants to draw, we can announce: ok, the three of us are a team. and then via email we can work up a product and present it suchly. i think this may make the most sense in terms of organization. this way if i post my new hit single 'digital iowa' (i actually wrote a song called that today) and both tre and deaner want to paint something on the basis of that, i don't have to choose between the two.
just another idea...
-Brian
Also a good idea. It would definitely make things easier, I only wonder if that would stifle the spontenaity a bit. I sort of envision this as a system where people post their work and people inspire each other rather than just pairing off, however much easier that would be. I think the idea is this wouldn't be run much like the tribute albums but would hopefully be more organic and cultivate a bit more of an artists' collaborative community here rather than just posting a "check me out and say if you like it". With pairing off, it's not really fueled by this back-and-forth symbiosis of ideas, I guess.
For those interested but without what they feel to be artistic talent, I think I'm going to spin this off once it gets off the ground (I need to devote my time more than ever to running the place), so anyone interested should email me with your ideas for this and thoughts on it.
Incidentally, I hope you do post Digital Iowa when things get going. I have a cool image in my mind, but I'm in no way the person to translate that into anything other than words perhaps. I'm sure someone could run with it.

Well, lived my life and never stopped to worry 'bout a thing Opened up and shouted out and never tried to sing Wondering if I'd done wrong Will this depression last for long?
Won't you tell me Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone?
Well, once we had an easy ride and always felt the same Time was on our side and I had everything to gain Let it be like yesterday Please let me have happy days
Won't you tell me Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone?
Ma and pa look back at all the things they used to do Didn't have no money and they always told the truth Daddy didn't have no toys And mummy didn't need no boys
Won't you tell me Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone?
Well, yesterday was such an easy game for you to play But let's face it things are so much easier today Guess you need some bringing down And get your feet back on the ground
Won't you tell me Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone?

Here's my lyrics
It's long so that might be an issue. I got inspired and tried to weave in as many FB refrences as I could. It's more bubble gummy than FB lyrics but I do like the way it came out.
Ho Tu and the Dots
a house ain't just a home it’s a space ship of space and time
and the seed is really the seed and trees
time Repeats it repeats in a spiral it repeats
it folds and unfolds in and out of a dot of a hole
and synchronicity ain't just an song by the Police
clockwise it expands counter it shrinks a wrinkle in time of an eye that always blinks
time Repeats it repeats in a spiral it repeats
it folds and unfolds in and out of a dot of a hole
to know this moment is to know the future a seed a flower a seed a past, a future, a present, a past
time repeats it repeats in a spiral it repeats
promote the good learn your numbers dissuade the bad warm those heart embers
Hotu found the seed of the shell of a turtle I heard it once then forgot it we all forgot it the secrets of the universe
North, East, Southeast, South wherever white noise sky and granite earth
trigrams, 24 mountains motion and Transformation it circulates and sometimes reverberates
in constant flux in continual order
it repeats in a spiral it repeats time repeats
counter clockwise tells the truth of the magic square counter to the clock is the future
time and space and more than likely a time space flying machine
told the Hotu the Jains, the Beatles (In Revolution 9), and untold archeological remains
it repeats in a spiral it repeats time repeats
now Oracle is not a holy place but a computer machine
and the Prince has been forced from the Forbidden City his rituals are gone mostly, but maybe that’s a good thing
but we still know the seasons and their numbers and we know the colors and we know the ritual of the drink although we’ve forgotten why we want to forget
the Yin and the Yang the darkness and the light it’s a magic motion of squares and of time nine is divine
time repeats it repeats in a spiral it repeats
it folds and unfolds in and out of a dot of a hole
in Egypt it was Enneads and X marks the spot or at tet a Tet recognizes completeness of the sprirt
there’s also nine circles in hell and nine choirs of sweet angels above and ask everyone following the 9th religion Buddah, Allah or the I Ching
time repeats it repeats in a spiral it repeats
each time it repeats we seem to know less as a dentist who mistakenly found the symbol and turned it into a sinister crest
he thought it was Germanic but it really was indigenous or Asian or Egyptian or Greek
a vestige of what we once were in primordial times and don’t get me started about 11 it’s better when it’s four, seven or nine
time Repeats it repeats in a spiral it repeats
we’re all one so let’s get back together
it’s all about karma good vibes and hope regardless of gender, status dogma or geographic position relative to the continental slope
it folds and unfolds in and out of a dot of a hole
time repeats it repeats in a spiral it repeats
it folds and unfolds in and out of a dot of a hole
it ain't about smoke it ain't about mirrors it's about what’s good in all of us and making it better
finding a common language and the good of all creatures
time repeats it repeats in a spiral it repeats
it folds and unfolds in and out of a dot of a hole
when it comes back the future will be the past and the good will make it better when holding on to the sweater that left the wrinkle in time

That's great K, just make sure you hold on to that or post it in the Salon. We're not quite ready to go yet, but I sure am happy to see people are excited about the idea.
