what kind of a request is this? am i the only one here that considers this absurd? what exactly does "beautiful women threads" exactly mean? is it ok to post pictures of humans of female sex? may i talk about women? and what if my gf is a bitch and i want to talk about her to a friend over here in a very neanderthal way? does this count? i perfectly agree with the no nude and no porn or paedophile stuff of course. these are simple and absolutely reasonable rules. but my definition and appreciation of women is not to be limited by a back from the dead 70's uberfemminist's point of view.

I can't think of anything positive to say about Dave's decision. I always had the feeling that bandwidth or some other server issue was the real, unspoken reason for the deletion of the "pictures of beautiful women thread", and this all but proves it.
This will likely be my last post for a long time. |

Oh my God! I have been gone for 2 1/2 weeks on vacation, and I can not believe what I am coming back to! What has happened! I was so excited about posting some pictures of my trip, and this is the first thread I read.
I stand by many of the excellent points of the forum members here. I don't understand either why Dave just posted and cut out.

Hey MCA, glad you ENJOYED the photos of Rich...one of many, many gems which set this site apart and made it special...
No, it never has been about bandwidth, Dave Noisy has been quite clear what his reasons are, however irrational they appear...
I'm going honky-tonkin to Joshua Black Wilkins down at Layla's Bluegrass Inn. I was really looking forward to posting a few...
I better take some pics anyway huh. I'll be huggin on my pretty neighbor, who is like a sister to me, Heidi...wife and kids out of town...maybe I'll be able to share some pics soon...

I was hoping to post some pics I plan on taking of my haunted apartment tonight IF they reveal anything strange (see my thread in General Chat called "My bedroom is acting weird". How's that for a plug!) I love this website, and I wouldn't leave even if Dave never reinstated the image ability. But I will miss it as it is an integral part of info sharing, especially among friends and fans. There is no doubt we can find to a solution.

yep i did enjoy your pics a lot. i know i'm not good at posting "thanks a lot" comments but i do appreciate people who share. a lot. i used to post concert pics here too then i took everything to a dedicated site where i hosted a lot of members pictures just to relieve this site's band and keep everything together. seems that any effort put here is useless unless you shut up and obey. please don't.

i consider myself pretty moderate and open to civil dialogue. i always hold my horses in previous similar situations and i didn't express my opinion on this one until the fotobanning nuclear blast was added to a by itself ridiculous revenge on some members. here's my point:
in the past few days some of the nicest forum members were offended as ignorant trolls on the basis of a single person's personal opinions.
this person offended everybody's intelligence by expressing strong opinions on habits and attitudes of many of us
what's worse refuses to talk and treats us as children or worse as his employes or slaves that have no right to reply
furthermore has no sense of humour or irony so escalates this madness on the basis of predictably bitter yet in good will posts
disrespects members who added to this site content, credibility and fun
acts unilaterally without any consideration of pubblic feeling.
in this situation and in my humble opinion the only decent thing to do is:
a) make a pubblic excuse to those unfairly mistreated for expressing an opinion and\or making harmful ironic comments
b) unban those members
c) unconditionally revoke the foto ban reserving off course the right to remove universally and not personally considered offensive and illegal material
d) start a real dialogue on wht the rules of the forum should be. by meaning real i intend real and not "if i hate it i remove it" kind of dialogue.
that's what dignity and honour demand. and that's only if this is about keeping together a community and not the pumped up ego of a complexed teenager. if not it doesn't worth the time.

i've heard some mumblings about dave wanting apologies before the accounts get unlocked. not sure if it's true, as i have not heard it from dave's own mouth, but several different people have mentioned it to me. if this is the case i don't think we'll be seeing floop around any time soon.
i am sitting here observing my emotional discomfort. |

Dave,
I think this is the worse way to finish the issue of the photos, I've always like how we share photos of Pixies, Frank Black, Musicians and art in general, you can't put all the forum members into a bag and manage us as a kid because of some photos of a few members that annoy you. I feel that this is like a snow ball that is increasing his size because of the replies of one side to another side and viceversa, stop the madness: breed,think and after that make a decision. Don't censor,the community won't grow in his maturity.
If you don't like that the people post women, ok it's up to you, put in the rules of the forum, and that's it,period. I've always like this forum because all the people are nice and they aren't rude, and all the people share their information about or passion, the music of Frank Black and Pixies...music, photos, everything. I only see that all of us lost with your decision.
Please reconsider your decision.

Umm this is really weird... I have not been in general chat for awhile. What is going on?? Who is banned?? Why?
I have no clue what happened in the PICs of Beautiful women thread... so I can't really offer a point of view here.
But it would be nice if we could turn back on the pics... I am sure lots of media are hitting the site... so it would definately make the site look better by turning the pics back on.
I think as far as pics go... like chien was saying no kids... and no animals... keep it R rated. Warn people on the thread title it's R rated.. and not to look at when at work.
But I think this place is a bastion of free speech and we for the most part have ultimately respected that ... that's one of the many cool things about the forum here! |

Sorry for being boring, but i'm trying my best to be diplomatic, which it is my job to do. Especially ON the actual forum. All i can say is that i'm trying to be a peacemaker and a compromiser - shit, when did i start sounding like George W. Bush? I can assure you that i am not lying though. I see this bickering and taking away of rights as, at the core, the beginning of the end of the fun of this forum if it isn't resolved soon. I don't want to see some of the people who's time and postings made this forum what it is discouraged and leaving the site for reasons that could've been avoided. Hence, i am trying to be diplomatic and let everyone talk, let me listen, and speak when necessary. I don't think me getting up here saying "Fuck Noisy!" or "Floop is an asshole!" is going to solve anything. I'm doing my best to try and get things back the way they were last week.
