I'm really quite sick of the fact that some of you wish to continue to 'push the boundaries', and that i feel the need to censor, so i will simply remove the option to post images.
If you would like to post images again, i suggest we discuss how this can be done, without compromising my request. (IE, no 'pictures of women' threads.) |

I'm an easy-going kind of guy Dave, and I kind of half-heartedly supported you on the deleting the thread thing, but isn't this going a tad far?
It'll spoil everyone elses enjoyment of the place and make matters worse regarding people who've already got a problem with things here.

| Dave, I love this site, I truly do, and I have tried to be supportive of your decision, I have sent many mails when things crop up like the trollers and the other weirdness, because I know the mods aren't around and need a heads up on this. Most of us do, we try because we like the site. What you're doing now, whether you mean to or not is alienating the board. You do realise people will just walk. You were wrong to insult the guys even if your intentions were in the right place. Locking people may seem justifiable to you but you should have realised the uproar this will have caused, especially after the way the situation was handled, and now this. I am posting this because I'm not even sure if you read the mails I sent you, due to a lack of response. You are moderator lite. You are a busy man and Dean is away, you cannot expect Brian to watch all of this on half mod duties. Would it have been hard to instate temp mods while this situation is about? no. Just because you are unable to keep an eye on the forum situation, don't punish the forum. And thats what you're doing, you're making no friends or supporters, I have defended you and am rapidly taking it back. This is one step too far, seriously. Baby thats art is pointless now, the honeycomb artowrk lost, a good deal of good threads gone. People won't blame those who insisted on continuing to post the pictures you don't like, this will just create more anger to you. I think it's a bad, bad move. |

i again request (as my last two, or maybe it was three, requests have been totally ignored) the new picture posting rules, as they are clearly not the same as the old ones. perhaps we wouldn't have to resort to these sort of childish "i'm taking your toys and going home" tricks if people had known that posting a picture of jane goodall (and discussing her career) was strongly frowned upon on fb.net.

| It's screwed the whole site over. If Dave was concerned about the gender dynamic and the male female attitudes his actions have not bettered it, if anything they've made it worse. People on this forum are adults, you will not get around them by taking their toys away and patronising them. Reasonable conversation would have worked a lot better before action was taken, hell even after action was taken. Homers made a good point about double standards and when you guys choose to moderate. There have been some appalling examples of this. Hot and heavy over being called names Dave, but not when three of us warned you we had a guy trolling the board. This place, it's been slipping with the double accounters, the trollers and the weirdos and if all three of you had been watching you would have picked it up. This is so ridiculous. |

| when i joined this forum one of the things i liked about it was that everybody seemed to be trusted and anything that was unacceptable-spam etc was dealt with the minimum of fuss, it just feels like you are treating us like children simply because we dont agree with you, i really cant see your reasoning here-do you want to kill the forum? |

| now now seriously. Dave has used the word "discuss" and we know how he replies to slights against his name or actions, so lets discuss this. Assuming he is still around and didn't drop a bombshell and run. What is this to achieve Dave? wha is the rationale behind it. The pictures of non-offensive women thread, which did probably begin life as a parody and a slight on your actions, was in practice both educational and celebrating the achievements of women. It was steered in that direction, there were as many scientists as actresses in there, so was heading the way you intended your original thread to go. So what was it that prompted this move? |

<<Just a quick post to say I'm in Oslo and heading north into the arctic circle and beyond, and while it has been quite difficult so far to find time for the internet, it will be impossible to find internet up there, so the next update will not be soon. I should have a few new photos sans captions up in the gallery though...

well since nobody feels comfortable enough to state what every single sane member thinks i'll do it for you:
1) this forum became a private property overnight. i know it actually is private run but you could spare us 3 years of pseudo democratic participation bullshit if you come and say now that this place is mine i rule and i couldn't care less of the people that are here.
2) many people paid to run this place out of love for fb's music and in good faith and respect for the people who run it. so fuck your nazist behaviour. refund every dime you got from people who loved the community but not your psychotic banana reppublic dictatorship.
3) people spent time and effort to beautiful and funny threads like the art ones and the funny pixies parodies, socialized with the show youselves threads and discussed a miriad of other stuff by using fotos. i forget the live pixies and fb fotos that should be the core of this site but obviously not important enough. put a fucking disclaimer at the home page if you want people to post what you wish. better yet lock all threads and remain the only one who posts so you are sure that you will not offend yourself. even if i think that you are so paranoid that you will end up locking your own account too.
4) people contributed to make this site what it is. song database, faq, quotes, new forum look, pic database etc were not made by you. so respect them and ask at least their opinion.
5) you single handendly ruined efforts of years in 2 days. well done.
6) if i'm not wrong there are other people who run this place. i wonder if they have any power to stop this madness. were are they?
7) i am very curious about what frank would say about this. it's still about frank ain't it?

MCA, good couple of points in there. I really enjoyed the Show Yourselves threads, it takes a lot for some people to put pictures of themselves for other people to see, and you've just wiped that out. It adds a whole bigger dimension to a forum when you can actually see who you're chatting to.
And people have paid money for the upkeep of this site. If our friend tobafett was here, he'd tell you how a company has to be responsible to its funders, or it's going to lose them. If those who've given you money feel cheated, that's a whole lot worse than those who just whinge about things.
