Hi all, i've deleted the former thread of this title... I was never crazy about it, and it really bothers me seeing 42 pages and 22,000+ views on such a shallow thread.
I would like to try and make a more positive twist on this.. Instead of relying on the physical characteristics of a woman to make her beautiful..tell us in your words something that you find beautiful in a woman you know.

i mean, you know - the girls were being just as shallow...you should take away their lollipops too. |

A sad day. I looked forward to the updates on that thread....but I understand your feelings. Was it hsi-ka's creepy posts that did it? |

It's one thing to have such a high moral character, Dave. I really appreciate that. What I don't appreciate is the imposition of authority on those whom you personally consider to be "shallow". I'm a superficial person. However, I didn't ask for self-improvement.
And I feel it's only rational to be shallow --- there are millions of good-looking people out there. Base a relationship on that and if it breaks, you're bound to find another physically beautiful person. If you base a relationship on internal beauty and that breaks, you're saddened to the point you think there's no tommorrow because there WON'T be another fish in the sea. He/She was so unique to you.
But, you do have a point, Dave, and to satisfy your request, I think Charlotte Heatherley has written some good songs for Ash.
EDIT: Well, I don't know her. She's a woman of whom I know. But I still think considering a woman 'beautiful' for her musical contribution is less shallow than considering her 'beautiful' for her visage. |

And, the Christian right (your comrades) is so tolerant of different points of view or 'disturbing' content.
I too am not so thriled by this heavy-handed deleting of threads. |

deleting the entire thread is absurd. did you actually take time to read through it? taking the last few pages out of context is no way to make decisions. to my knowledge, none of the women who post regularly on the board had a problem with it, and plenty of us posted in there ourselves. it's not the loss of one topic that bothers me so much as the reasoning behind it.

is that implying the rest of us are of low moral character? please.

Since when did physical beauty become negative?
In my opinion it's more fun to look at a pic then read what someone finds atractive in a woman. My $0.02. |

It's implying most of us are NORMAL -- that is, we recognize our id, but we sublime it enough not to walk up to a capricious individual and have sex with them. Dave sublimes his id (and by that I mean his animalistic, sexual desires) even more than the average human. That's what I mean when I say he has a higher moral character.
I just don't like how he's refusing to let us be ourselves. |

Seeing as we're all throwing our pennies into the ring here.
I never looked after the intitial "baby war" in the thread until someone told me about hi-ksa and I saw the disturbing posts he made, I noticed the sudden sneak in of nakedness as well. I guess maybe deleting the thread was a bit much, but as I have said in beautiful men thread (which was originally called, by the way "ladies night" which I will come back to) it's not like some of you guys needed much of an excuse to post these pictures in any thread anyway. Quite frankly, even with your own thread dedicated to it, it didn't stop. I don't like when I start a thread about things feeling like I have to ask for people to refrain from posting these sorts of shots. It does make me uncomfortable, none of the foum women would dispute your little thread but a few of us were tired of this prior picture posting activity, it's a little isolating to us, and you don't get that.
Beaut. Men was started because of that, it was supposed to be a thread for the forum girls, who there are a few of you know, it was meant to take the piss out of the T&A shots knocking about and see how you liked it when it was flipped back at you. Which a few of you didn't and a good many of you sporadically trolled, thanks for that. There is, also, I am afraid a difference in the two threads and that is as simple as the difference between men and women. If Dave feels the need to delete it as well, fine. That is ok, if he deletes it to stop you guys moaning, thats not ok. If our thread is shallower than the average thread, fine. If it just makes you feel better, fuck that.
What I do not like is this dummy spitting "If us, them too" crap. You got our backs huh guys.
KSR, the thread is full of largely fully clothed mostly music artists and the odd actor, it's also full of discussion, you yourself have participated in.
Erebus, I love how you're so quiet until there's a "rights violation" you can get all high horse about.
I appreciate this isn't a popular opinion but I'm tired and don't care. If it were down to me I wouldn't have deleted the thread, but it is not my message board is it.

Comedy gold!
I'll be honest, I did post in the said thread and therefore have no right to condemn it. I don't know whether I would or not really, anyway.
I like the idea of this thread though. I know lots of people who are 'beautiful' on the inside, maybe even more so than on the outside. I'll have a think, and if this thread doesn't turn into one long rant maybe I'll be back.

Actually my reaction is consistent with a longstanding crusade against values imposition, as well with my insistance that the greater Orwellian threat to freedom comes from the left, not the right. You may consider it a public service, while I will consider it fun, which is why I tend to speak disproportionately often from my "high horse". Most of the rest of the forum is, for me, not fun. Much here is informative on matters I value, but most of the play is not my style. But moral and ethical debate, that's fun. |

darwin, I support that provision of the Patriot Act, but I do wish liberals could somehow manage to take themselves to a universe where they preserve their library privacy while jetliners plow into their buildings. That way all of us could get what we want, and deserve. |

haha who's more judgmental, the person who eliminates an entire thread that apparently many people were enjoying for many months or the person who comments on the silliness of the deletion? and that's all i think it is, just silliness. and a total double standard that i really am surprised at here. it's not ok to have 22,000+ views on a 'shallow thread' but it's ok to have about a third of that in an equally shallow thread that somehow is held to a different accountability because why? is it assumed women are just inherently more capable of handling the 'responsibility' of that type of enjoyment? and that is not meant to be condescending, it's the truth. just how i feel, which doesn't add up to much on the net, i know, but on a message board, the opinion's all you're worth. just words. i guess because of my own personal associations with the band/fb/this part of my musical life, i maybe assumed that there'd be more of a hmmm what's the word i'm looking for... I dunno, this all just seems like much ado about nothing, just like all boards are, and i guess i thought it wouldn't be like that here. take it how you want, doesn't really matter one way or another. at the end of the day, all message boards are for information, entertainment, and, probably mostly for vaidation. everyone wants their two cents tossed in there, and no one's immune to that. there's a reason we all wanna see our names and opinions with a whole list of responses after it and it's not because we're all so deep. so, i tossed my two cents, you tossed yours. *shrug*

Come on, darwin. I'm merely taking the absurdity of the liberal/dem position to its extreme conclusion. Words? What about policy and action? The libs are so worked up over principled rights that they would have us all be killed by those less troubled by such subtleties. Rights are always curtailed in times of war, and this is a time of war, likely of a seriousness and longevity much like that of the Cold War, which, may I remind you, the libs would loved to have lost for us. No, I wouldn't have you killed, but were it not for the seriousness of the right the left would manage to get all of us killed. It's a damn good thing the children have so many adults around, and that the children are managing to work themselves into a long-term minority position. But I must say it wouldn't be a bad thing if the left suffered consequences commensurate with its ignorance, if only because then the children might learn something about the actual nature of the world. But don't worry, the adults will take care of you, despite yourselves, and despite the long absent, apparently re-emergent Dave. Dean, where have you gone? Save us please. |

Wow..talkin' 'bout everything but what really matters...
This was more of a challenge than anything...and so far not very successful..
To permeate the belief that beauty is skin deep is pretty sad...and that was exactly what's going on.
I give you an opportunity to prove that you are actually *above* the standard (and unacceptable) level of sexism, and some of you go on defending it, citing 'free speech' and other unrelated bullshit.
I acknowledge that my viewpoint is unpopular, but there's much more depth and a progressive ethic pushing it...as opposed to what was going on, which worked to further isolate women (and men) on here by posting (usually) unrealistic examples of air brushing and cosmetic surgery that is mistakenly described as beauty....when in reality it's probably much closer to an illness.
If you really want to demonstrate that you accept women for who they are, and that beauty is *more* than skin deep, then put your money where your mouth is, and post something beautiful about a woman, that isn't based on a photograph.
Otherwise, you're only succeeding in substantiating my viewpoint.
You have an opportunity here to really, truly shine. Challenge yourself, rather than attempting to challenge me.

Which is...that one can't unjustly delete things and impose (on others) his refusal to acknowledge anything against his perception of values and ethics? Or do you mean this on a deeper, profound level, i.e. "natural rights" proposed by philosophers such as John Locke? |

Wow. I've derailed this thread. I'll post something pertinent now.quote: If you really want to demonstrate that you accept women for who they are, and that beauty is *more* than skin deep, then...post something beautiful about a woman that isn't based on a photograph.
I had a friend who once gave me a book. I consider her thoughtfulness and generosity beautiful. I assure you that thoughtfulness and generosity do NOT depend on an airbrushed photograph, for she wasn't a very good-looking girl physically. She had gray hair and she was very short. |

i saw milla in concert, she is beatiful, smart, sexy, talented and definitely pictureworthy. i'll make it small so the powers that be don't get too upset. i'll also post some beautiful lyrics.
some lyrics: the alien song(for those who listen)
I see a shining.... A sweeping from the clouds A glimmer of hope is coming to feel our light Oh look it's flashing This life among the stars Reaching out to know us to feel our might Oh... this restless hope in you Please... try and help us Stand on our own As we STEPPED on this pavement and saw your dying minds Paper, for which you're killing a brother's life Help you, we cannot TOUCH you we cannot understand Your people's proud destruction Of their own land Oh... we're flying On from you We... will not stay to See your fate Watch them fly away Watch them fly away See the lines across the sky Watch them fly away
The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind. |
