To be fair, I hated you anyway floop.
Isn't it in keeping with the thread though, that the male one is out in the open, the female is not being talked about?

If we're thinking of the same person, she's never been nice to me and I really haven't seen her being charming to many guys.
I know who she's on about and there is a noticable difference in the way she responds to women and to guys, it's a weird social tactic but in her case it seems to have worked.
Darwin, I think your post was very clever (for a guy) :P
meeting people is easy
If we're all talking about the same person, that I beleive we are. It happened the same to me, I never got an answer from an email that I sent. As I beleive, at first, that people are good I didn't understood why that happened. Only after a few time here, and reading some posts from this girl I got it. Anyway, It doesn't bothers me at all as I got to know some real good people here.
And maybe this is the reason why most of my friends are man, they aren't always looking for trouble, like some girls are. And as a women I feel sorry for having to say this.

I guess mostly just because Kathryn mentioned another person (a guy) by name, while Carolyn didn't. Now that I see it explained, I guess it makes sense. I would be interested to know who these females in question are, but that's just because of my insatiable curiosity.
I can see why you wouldn't want to name names, but the whole "oh, I'm upset at a certain person, but I'm not going to tell you WHO" kind of bugs me. I guess it's really none of my business, though; it obviously isn't me who's being talked about, since I'm not a girl.
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

If this keeps up we are all going to have to do a group hug and then everybody's gonna feel uncomfortable.
Erebus, my unsolicited advice is that you should not call your mom out of rote obligation. If it's not heartfelt, don't do it. I apologize if I've overstepped my bounds by saying this.
Now I'm gonna go in the Beaut. Men Thread and oogle and objectify.
P.S. To Darwin: you are my secret forum crush.

darwin: our new forum "it" boy. and to think just a few days ago no one could remember anything he's ever posted.
to further continue the lameness, the mystery woman emailed me once, and it was a pretty nasty letter (which i thought was uncalled for). so you guys shouldn't complain about the lack of response. that aside i must say that i think there are more snippy, catty men on this forum than women. |

yeah but i think talking about them in this (vaguely) indirect way is just as bad. why not just be open about it, or don't mention it at all..
I was just trying to be discreet. I wanted to point out the fact that it even happens here. I didn't think there was a need to say hey I think so and so acted like a "bitch" and now lets start a war and a helluvalot of animosity on the board.

Yeah, what's up with that? Actually, I enjoy it, as I suppose would be obvious to anyone paying attention.
Regarding an earlier post of yours here, I know I could change to thread title, but I thought What the Hell. It is provocative, though I'm surprised I chose it. People seem to get the way I meant it. |

it wouldn't be correct to say "completely".. what i've done is taken all the good parts of my old self (making quesadillas, being right a lot) and combined them with my new, different self, to form kind of an uber-self.

Wow!!
I have been away from the forum for a few days, and actually avoided this topic because of the subject line. Obviously I need to not judge a topic by the title alone.
I am so saddened by the stories of our forum mothers who have already watched this phenomenon play out (I can't believe it is starting at 3 and 5 years of age!). I too was on the receiving end of such meanness (never physical as I was quite athletic, but verbal) growing up. I would like to say that I was strong as nails and just didn't let it bother me, but it did.
I remember one girl in high school who was working on a project with me. She didn’t have a reliable car, so I would drive us around to the various places we needed to go. I “thought” we were becoming friends, and when she wasn’t around the girls she usually hung around she really was quite nice. She would come up to me often and ask me things and chat etc. But then one day she was talking to one of her other friends and I happened to over hear her friend ask, “Why are you always hanging around Kathrynn?” and my *friend* said, “I don’t know she just follows me around everywhere.” I was just shocked! The way she said it was so mean, and really made me feel like shit. I felt completely betrayed.
A few years ago I went to my 10-year high school reunion, and I was really curious if those girls had changed. I mean….we were in high school and certainly we all grow up a bit, right? But, I was amazed to see how the old social structure of high school played out again. The former popular ones stuck together and didn’t even attempt to get to know anyone new. It was really interesting to sit back and watch. I found myself actually feeling sorry for them for the first time, as it seemed they were the ones actually who were uncomfortable.

mosleyk, I will find that girl and be subtly mean to her. How dare she be mean to you! You are so sweet. Hours ago, my husband returned from his high school reunion. I was proud of him for going -- it was the first time he'd seen any of his classmates since graduating. This was a small school and they'd all been together K-12, so he'd had plenty close-up snubbing cliques and heirarchical bullshit. Anyway, he said they all fell right into their old roles over the weekend, just as you're saying. Without his trying, his revenge came, inadvertantly, during the class' trip to a golf course. My husband's a humble, low-key guy but a solid golfer. Without even trying, he fucking nailed his first shot and suddenly everybody shut up. For the rest of the reunion weekend the alpha males were suddenly solicitous of him, which is somewhat funny.
darwin, dayanara can talk trash all she wants but you *are* my sfc! besides, i like the spice girls.

Kathrynn thanks so much for the kind words. You are a sweetie too, and I know your daughter will thrive in your care. My mother is great, but I wish she would have been a bit more savy about "mean girls"

I got unbelievably stoned on the way to my last school reunion, turned up with good friend of mine from school who had just come out the closet (just to give them something really good to talk about) and spent the whole time laughing so hard we both nearly wet ourselves at the fact that the girls who had been prefects still referred to themselves as "the prefects" - for fucks sake this was 5 years later, talk about getting a grip and moving on! |

i did go to my 10 year actually.. i found that most people fell into their old roles, but there were quite a few people who had changed quite a bit too.. nerds who now looked completely different. popular hot girls who were now, well, not that good looking..
some cliches i was expecting to see but didn't: it's the cliche that the nerdy smart guy will go on to become rich and successful and the start football player will end up getting fat and have a shitty job etc...
i didn't really find that. i talked to some of the people who were the HARDCORE academics of my high school.. most-likely-to-succeed types.. who spent ALL their free time studying. had no social life. had no fun..
and none of them had particularly amazing jobs.
which just re-affirmed the fact that i was doing the right thing by fucking around and not taking school too seriously |

I hope Erebus doesn't mind that his thread's taken this delightful reunion-horror-stories turn.
Mine's in three weeks and 1.5 miles from my house and I am so not going. I went to the last one and it was hilarious in its horribleness. Floop, one cliches was true: the nerdy geeky kid who studied 24/7 friggin' runs the Pentagon (only a slight exaggeration). Of the two big class jocks, one is a gazillionaire but the other's a grossly overweight car salesman who wears pastel-hued golf attire at all times. And all the pretty popular girls are still pretty and popular but now they're married to super-duper rich dudes.

One of the great delights of my reunion was mistaking one of the super hot and popular girls for someones mother, a mere 5 years had not been kind to her.
