i like g mail, it's proved most useful especially with e mailing people for uni things, the attachment adding is peasy and i like it's thread like format.
plus the google ads are hilarious sometimes

I loved it when I was having an e-mail conversation involving John Linnell from They Might Be Giants, and I kept getting ads pertaining to the English painter of the same name.

i have an address book on my computer, i can send attachements and i have a lot of space on my server (not a gig, but enough)..

| I guess it's a question of philosophy. To me, mail is a way to transfer attachments (providing they aren't too big), not store them. Once I receive an attachment, if I want to keep it I save it to a "permanent" place. Otherwise it gets deleted with the rest of my mail. |

I just totally abuse my mac at work along with my email account and total freedom over what I browse on the internet.
Like you Floop I'm just not getting the whole gmail thing.
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

I have a Hotmail account, and it's been randomly cutting out on me as of late. Like, I'll keep getting "this server is too busy" messages, and it will occasionally say I don't have any mail in my inbox. Compared to that, Gmail is definitely an improvement.

Ive been having thesame thing recently too. So a friend invited me to gmail, and i really like it.
When having email 'conversations' it keeps them all otgether, and shows them like a thread, i think its a really good account. I often had problems with hotmail regarding storage. I dont have a computer of y won, and so my email accounts are basically my storage.
The ads i dont even notice, its got a great search function....i just really think its a great account.
BTW, any one who has my hotmail add, im using my gmail one as a permanent account from now on, may or may not have sent you an email with the new add...its changed in my profile any how.

| just thought i'd add that i maintained a hotmail account, even when i got my gmail account, so i could use MSN. then i relealised that you can of course make any email a .NET passport for use with MSN. say buhbye to hotmail forever! |

I now have hotmail, yahoo, gmail and my college email account. you can never have too many.
Plus, most have stupid names i wouldnt give to impo people...such as 'gypsydeath', lol, and others have my name which i wouldnt hand out to other people...its all good.

The best part of gmail is the threaded view for sure. That said, I am probably already in the double digits for number of email addresses and though I do have a gmail, I haven't found a use for it yet.
