I liked American Splendor. [tiven] Perhaps only mature people can appreciate it.[/tiven]

Curb Your Enthusisam - I like it. Larry David is a funny man. But you know where every episode is heading. It's kind of like Three's Company, but with funny people and swear words. I can't really imagine watching a bunch of them at once.

I would say interesting, but certainly not "fantastic"

In a word no.

I thought it was dull as dishwater and there are far too many other films out there that deserve my full attention rather than one that feels like a work to get through.

Though I have no doubt that I'll get flamed for this.

You're both on crack. That movie is fantastic.

I have owned this version for over a year now and I still haven't set aside the time to watch it.

I am waiting for more drugs to arrive.

An American friend of mine in Dublin complained about when he went to see it in the cinema he was sober by the time it ended.

munich-i actually quite liked it-alright, spielberg did manage to make a buddy heartstring tugging film out of terrorism, but it was genuinely interesting, particularly because i didnt know much about the munich massacre/aftermath-kinda good for understanding the current situation too

Have any of you seen 11:14!? I watched it last night at work. It was pretty nuts! Greusomely stupid. It's a total "suspend your disbelief and just have fun" type of movie.

It didn't tug my heartstrings much and I am hardly ice cold.

I think he just tried to show these guys as human beings, which they were/are.

What was it about?

Denis

I love Guitar Wolf from the Erath!

It is about a young guy killing a taxi driver in a fit of rage. He recieves the death penalty. Bleak.

Kieslowski made Decalogue, a series based on the ten commandments, for Polish TV in the 80's. This film was one of the episodes of this very good but sad and depressing stories.

Is Benny's Video the same film as Funny Games? Funny Games was really good and La Pianiste even better.

I cannot wait for Cache. I like Daniel Auteuil.

Yeah, I've only seen in him Cache, but he was great in that.

Watched a stupid movie called Fangs, featuring Corbin Bernsen, at a friend's last night. Predictably, it's about killer bats. Tried to be tongue-in-cheek, was just irritating. And the disc went funny a good bit in, and the rest of the movie was jerky and speeded-up looking! :D

You're at least the third person in this thread to make that same basic joke.

Anyway, I watched:

Boogie Nights--Very well-made
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer--Corny, and the soundtrack didn't help matters any

Uh? You found "Henry" corny? Wow, I guess I should watch it again then, cause that's the last adjective I'd use to describe it.

I haven't watched anything recently (although there's an Eastwood movie tonight on TV that I've never seen), but this afternoon I discovered that after all these years, they'll finally release Bubba Ho-Tep here. Yeah! At last I'll know what it's all about.

I agree with Denis. That's not the word I'd use for a movie like that. I found it awesome when I saw it. Certainly the "best" movie I've seen about "serial killers", and one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. And I found the soundtrack great too. The actors are incredible. The filming is very good. It's quite rare to see hard-liner movies like that. But... just my opinion.

The Constant Gardener - It was quite good.

Kings and Queens (Roi et Reines) - Severe mood swings from comedy to death and despair and back within minutes. I enjoyed most of it, just a little too long.

Well, maybe that's the wrong word. "Overdone," perhaps? There were some things about it that were done pretty well, but I didn't think much of it overall.

tried to sit through the rest of AMERICAN SPLENDOR and again, could not. i had my girlfriend tell me how it ended.

watching that film conjured up feelings i've had doing other unpleasant things, like sitting in traffic school for 8 hours. or getting the stomach flu

I saw A Short Film About Killing in university ten years ago, though they used to have cinema class on a Friday morning when everyone was crawling about the place hungover so I don´t remember the film being any more bleak than my state of mind at the time.

I watched a half hour of Abel Ferrara´s The Funeral last night and got into bed to read instead. I´ve seen the end in Catalan before, so I´m sure I´ll catch up with the middle at some point.

Yesterday I watched Eastwood's Blood Work. It's supposed to be one of his weakest but I liked it. The directing was a bit lazy and the end was so-so but the story was great.

I agree. I used to obsessively watch that as a teenager. How great was Randy Quaid? And how unhinged is Nicholson? A very underrated and forgotten little gem.

I saw Hellraiser 6 last night. I actually thought it was one of the better ones in the series, despite the fact that it went straight to video. Out of the ones I've seen, the third is still by far the worst.

The Fly - D. Cronenberg: Not my favorite Cronenberg, but still a pretty good one. Jeff Goldblum is very good.
