man, i love PARIS, TEXAS.. different strokes.

i watched CHINATOWN again last night. excellent flick. say what you will about Roman Polanski, the guy is an amazing director. a friend of mine lives across the street from one of the locations in the film in Echo Park, so it was fun to see what it looked like in 1974 (even though the film takes place in the 40's).

"it's Chinatown, Jake"

That movie is awesome.

Million Dollar Baby-- thought it was good. Not to give too much away, it was not what I was expecting, but very good.

I saw Paris Texas years ago when I was a student, 3-4 movies a day during a yearly film festival. I remember loving it and my friend hating it. Her complaints the same as Apl's. I loved it because it seemed such a strange film back then. The soundtrack, the landscape and of course Harry Dean Stanton. There was a dialogue scene between Kinski and Stanton sitting on opposite sides of oneway glass which had me spellbound. I'd love to watch that movie again sometime, see if it still gets to me.

I watched a few episodes of a US prison drama called OZ. Violent and explicit. Are there many series like these on US TV?

28 days is the one I meant.

But Hotel Rawanda and Million Dollar baby were two-- but in a different way.

I just got back from the theaters, where I saw Hotel Rwanda. I'm really speechless. Great film.

Yuk yuk yuk. It was good though, and I really hope that the academy gives it some recognition.

It's just finished now. I really like that film. To be fair to Bruce, considering he hasn't been the greatest actor ever, he has been in a few decent films. Some awful ones too mind.

Ha! See KoK, you know shit about movies!

Sorry, just kidding, but I really can't believe you don't find it funny. Actually I can believe it 'cos comedy is particularly a case of 'each to their own'.

Farrell pisses me off because he thinks he's funnier than me, and he's not.
He just has a better medium.
He's always taunting me.

I hesitate to post here after making such a big fuss about not
watching movies nightly but last night was a night when I did
watch a movie so I can safely say that....

Last night I watched "Stop Making Sense" and was amazed by
how well it's aged, how it holds up after all these (22) years. Shit,
I am old. Jonathan Demme did some great stuff with that
concert and the Talking Heads are such artists.

Now, a plug for a newly released DVD by one of my (and Frank's) favorite
bands, X: "The Unheard Music" by X. See it! Own it! Love it!

I'll be back at this thread in about six months when I watch
another movie. Have fun until then.

I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank

I've only caught bits of that movie as videos on MTV etc. I have the cd, and have been listening to it quite a bit. I actually had the Dvd in my hand yesterday, but put it back on the shelf when I decided to diplay some self control, and not spend so much. I'm not big on some of the songs like In Heaven, etc. Is it a must have Kay?

KOK, I am going straight back to the telepathy thread to take back what I
just posted there about not believing in telepathy.

(hell, yes, you should buy the DVD!)

I love the Stop Making Sense film. I watched it for the first time the night before my band played our first show, and I couldn't stop doing David Byrne dances on stage (or couldn't stop trying at least, damn that man can boogie).

Sir Rock! I love that you get (some of) your moves from quirky, brilliant,
geeky David Byrne, who, in turn, I think got a move or two from Bowie.
You look at him in that suit and think "Thin White Duke."

Heheh, who's the midget...
Actually, the midget was Polanski, you knew that?

I just watched Look Around You with Peter Serafinowicz. Pretty good stuff.
