Nope... not sure, but Chinatown is the only Polanski film I can think of that I've seen.
Hang on - thats awful! That can't be right...

The only Polanski I'm familiar with is his interpretation of Macbeth which I watched this year in my English class. I wasn't all that impressed.

"Rosemary's Baby" that shot of the heater? Scariest scene captured cinematographically. And nothing happens. It's just a shot of a heater.

Didn't he stick the knife into Nicholson's nostril and yanked it out through the skin? Nicholson had a bandaged nose through the rest of the film.

yeah, he spends the rest of the film with a huge bandage on his nose. a la Thomas Hayden Church in SIDEWAYS

The bandaged nose was damn cool. I didn't know that it was Polanski himself playing a part in the film. I've no idea what he looks like. Has he been pardoned in the US for his fling with the young lady? I remember reading about appeals for him being pardoned going on.
I thought Knife In The Water was excellent. The young blond guy was much creepy. Another Polanski film which I saw sucked though. It starred Peter Coyote and plays on a huge passenger ship. Some ridiculous sex scenes in that one. I'll have to check IMDB for the title now.
I cannot wait to see Sideways.

The Polanski film I saw and hated was Bitter Moon. It also starred Hugh Grant, go figure.
Anyone else think the reviews on IMDB are mostly terrible?

My watching a movie starring Hugh Grant would have to be part of a jail sentence or other punishment.

Yup. One of the worst movies I've ever seen.
"Repulsion" is a wonderful movie, and in my humble opinion, it makes up for "Bitter Moon" many times over. I made a lame film-class attempt to emulate the opening scene in my first Super-8 film. Yeah, it was pretty dorky. I almost wonder if Polanski isn't schizophrenic. How could the same mind make such a leap?

I thought he was "brilliant" when he got busted with that skanky hooker.
I just watched (The Kay edit) The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King.
Was it just me or were those the gayest damn hobbits ever created? There was so much hugging and looking longingly, into each others eyes that I was fully prepared to see Frodo and Sam to start tonguing each other in the last scene. The whole thing with Sam getting married just created coinfusion for me. I started yelling out "What? I thought he was gay?".

Hard to believe but... I just watched a movie!!!
Y Tu Mama Tambien.
It was sweet and cute but also brutal (the voiceovers that told you what the future held for each character).

You'll enjoy it Homer. I saw it about a week ago, actually posted it on here. I agree Kathryn, the voice overs, while brutal, were a nice touch, especially the silence that accompanied them. Everytime there was a new voice over, I thought that the DVD was skipping at first, or that my speakers were broken.

The last sex scene freaked out Mr. Kathryn. Funny because his gay dad was raving about the movie. Last scene, we figured out why.
Can we talk about something other than the sex for a moment, gents? I liked how the movie subtly pointed to Mexico's class differences.

I know that this has been pointed out a million times before me, but for the strangest reasons, its true. Whenever a steamy sex scene pops up in a film, it will be that one scene that a parent will wander into the room. The same applied to Y Tu Mama, although granted, this movie had more sex than the average film, the odds were against me in watching embarassment-free. Lets just say that my mom saw more of Diego Luna then she was really interested in. Maybe it wasn't one of the sex scenes, but it was during one of the multiple male nude scenes.

i actually thought it was kind of unsublte with the class critique. and i could have done without the last sex scene. but what's-her-name in the movie is a serious babe

Sir Rock! For shame! We were talking about class differences in the movie...how it portrayed social and economic realities in Mexico, not about quote steamy unquote sex scenes. Can't you guys stay on topic? Sheesh!

If it's part of the film then I guess it's fine to talk about it. You won't catch me talking about the sex when I finally see it.
There is a delay on that though so it won't be for a while. My first two movies arrived this morning though. WOOWOO! I'll watch them this weekend.
