I watched almost all of "Ma Mère" starring Isabelle Huppert. It was so laughably bad, I stopped. She used to make such good movies.
When we walked through Little Italy I saw my reflection come right off your face I paint pictures to remember, you're too beautiful to put into words

Shoalin Soccer was bad ass! I reluctantly watched it with my buddies kids and ended up loving it. Kung Fu Hustle was pretty sweet too. |

I guess it may seem entertaining to people who don't understand football, ie Americans and The Japanese ; )
EDIT: Kung Fu Hustle is on my list though. Looks good.

Yeah, I think there was a chick in a bikini at one point. Some neighbor lady who later made the main character watch her kid.

Saw The Brothers Grimm last week. Drags a little in places, but overall pretty good. Some freaky ideas. It did'nt deserve to get such a critical slaughtering. Okay, so it's a bit more mainstream than some of Gilliam's stuff, but that's the problem. People were expecting a 'Terry Gilliam' movie!
Also watched Halloween, Halloween 4 and Halloween Resurrection recently. Part 1=good, 4=watchable, Resurrection=excrable.
Oh, and also Jess Franco's Jack The Ripper. Enjoyable nuttiness with Klaus Kinski.

A History of Violence : David Cronenberg was a great director. Sadly (since Spider), he isn't anymore. |

Mr. and Mrs. Smith - 120 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Vince Vaughn was the only reason I didn't walk out. This piece of crap movie totally sucked.

That sucks, I saw Shivers recently (his first film I believe) and it was just splendid. Even if he sucks now I'll always love him for the Deborah Harry nude scene in Videodrome. |

Watched a film called "Images" the other night It's directed by Robert Altman and starred Susannah York . I really enjoyed it, it was really creppy and kept you guessing about what was real and what was imaginary. Plus it was shoot in a lovely part of Ireland, Glendalough, which is near where I live.

I saw that a few years ago on RTE presented in a showcase called The Last Picture Show by that guy who gave away the plots beforehand, it was nice and peculiar.

Ya, I remember him, I think he gave us a lecture when I had a film studies module, he did use to totally deconstruct the film before you got to watch it! It was a cool film to watch as I'd just woken up from a nap and was abit fuzzy and that coloured my preception of it.

I saw "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation" on Wednesday. It sucked, but at least now I can say I've seen the whole series.

Just watched Spider, I really liked it. Ralph Fiennes was really excellent in it as well, I didn't expect him to be as good as he was.

Yeah, I did'nt see it. I thought A History Of Violence was okay, nothing brilliant, but some people obviously did'nt like it. Oh by the way, never seen Images, but I've been to Gleandalough a few times! That presenter on that Last Picture Show prog that used to be on, can't remember his name, he always seemed quite passionate about film. He's a film critic for some paper, can't think which!
BF-Palimdromes, hav'nt seen it or any of Todd Solondz's movies, it did get quite middling reviews!
Vovat-TCM 4 is indeed fucking dreadful.

You have to see Happiness Carl, brillantlly disturbing and blackly funny. I would love to see Palimdromes and Story Telling.

I really enjoyed Mr & Mrs Smith - it was pure trash with some fabulously sexy fight scenes - perfect low brow entertainment in my humble opion.
I have this and next weekend all to myself so doing some catching up on the dvd watching. Yesterday was A Dirty Shame which I absolutely loved. The detail in John Waters movies is lush. Followed by The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou - I now want a boat just like that or to be Angelica Huston, I've nto decided yet. A perfectly charming movie. Both absolute escapism and just what the doctor ordered.

I did finally get around to seeing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and thought that was excellent. Jim Carrey actually did okay with a serious role, didn't see that coming. |
