watched STROSZEK last night (thanks apl)

weird little film with an even weirder ending. it seemed much different than other Herzog's i've seen. it kind of felt more Wim Wenders to me. or like if Jim Jarmusch made a film in German.

sad ending

Was eager to watch Herzog's HEART OF GLASS. Out of the films I've seen of his, this is his worst. In my opinion. Just didn't like it.

I've never seen any Russ Meyer movie. How was it?

actually it didn't measure up to other Russ Meyer films i've seen. FASTER PUSSYCAT, KILL KILL! and BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS are cinematic gems. seriously.

thinking about the plot of SUPER VIXENS after watching the film is almost more entertaining than watching it

Regarding the whole Napolean Dynamite debate, I think you have to be able to find the humor in the complacency of someones completely ordinary life, which most of the time turns out to be anything but normal. I enjoyed the movie very much, the "Rex Kwon Do" scenes made me fucking hysterical, partly because you know there are people really like that out there. "BOW TO YOUR SENSE!!!"

I liked Napoleon Dynamite much better the second time I saw it. I think it might have been partially because of the company I was in (my mom the first time, and my girlfriend the second time), but I've heard of lots of other people liking it better upon second viewing, too.

The most recent film (if you could call it that) that I saw was some Sci-Fi Channel documentary called "Monsters, Madness, and Mayhem." It had gotten a low Netflix rating, and I could see why. There was some interesting stuff in it, but it was put together rather poorly overall.

Watched Four Brothers. Reminded me of True Romance Detroit scenes. The brother on brother camraderie was pretty funny much of the time, but overall give it a B. Plenty of gratuitous testosterone scenes.

I thought it was going to be boring, but seems like they are having a great time! And very clever comments, I must say.

Plus they said nice things about the Pixies.

Speaking of good audio commentaries the one for "Sideways" is really great. It's the two main actors in the movie and they play well together. Check it out. I just got through about half of "The Island of Dr. Moreau", that film is AWFUL.

I just watched Bubba Ho-Tep, with Bruce Campbell as an aging 'Elvis', and the late Ossie Davis as a man who belives he's JFK (even though he's black!) going up against the title character!Quite funny, and apart from the (maybe deliberately) silly bug effects, it's well done for a film that cost only about half a million!

Last night I watched The HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy. I never heard the original radio version or read the book, and I only saw some of the TV series before, in any case I was a bit disappointed with it, not that I was expecting it would be brilliant. I thought the Stephen Fry Hitchhiker's guide interludes jarred a little, and the film really ran out of steam towards the end. Good performances, though.

I had mixed feelings on that movie. It was better than I expected overall, but the ending sucked, and there were a few other things they didn't do very well. I liked the Guide interludes, though. They're an important part of the style.

Rosemary's Baby (again) - one of my favorites. If theres anything more frightening than an 80 year old man yelling,"God is Dead! Satan lives!!!" with that much conviction then I don't know what it is.

I thought it was a bit of a mess. I'm sure Disney insisted on it being under two hours. BTW, this is page 42!!

THE PORNOGRAPHER. a study of an aging porno director who after coming out of retirement finds he wasn't the artist he was 20 years earlier...very quiet and affecting starring Jean-Pierre Leaud.

and

ROSELAND. Boring TV-movie quality film of severla stupid vingettes which follow couples at New Yorks now-defunct dancehall.

I just watched "The Kay Edit." It was okay, but I don't understand why the CIA agent didn't just take the train back in time. It was established that there was a time train at the beginning, but he had to come up with some convoluted plan involving tomato sauce and harnessed lightning instead. And come on, that leading lady could not act!

Seriously, though, I saw "Lost in Translation" last night. I liked it.

Watched Sin City the other night. Wish it was more than a 2 day rental, and also wished I had seen it on the big screen. Thought it was fun. Bit violent (to put it mildly) but fun. Also very funny in many places. Especially like the toilet-dunking scenes. Scatalogical items always make me laugh.

Actually I am gonna be watching a film with them in this weekend called 'Blank Generation: Dancing Barefoot'. It's a documentary about CBGB's I think. I got it from Amazon.

Gods and Monsters, I really enjoyed it even though I hate Brendan Fraser. I found it very touching with the older gay man / young straight man relationship.

Speaking of Brendan Fraser, last night I watched and enjoyed "Crash."

Don Cheadle, good actor. Discuss.

It's so embarrassing to find Matt Dillon sexy. God, it's such a source of shame!
