Did you not think it had some really 'jumpy' moments though? I think I jumped more at that film than any other.

Last night I watched '9 Songs'. I really enjoyed it. It got a bit of a slating but I really identified with it. It reminded me a lot fo my life over the last few years.

I admire the director's bravery but even more so the actors'.

Mikey? White Noise? made you jump? are you kidding?
Keaton, Tv noise.... seriously same film?

I'm with TRANSMARINE, it was terrible and not an inch scary.

I watched The Life Aquatic and The Aviator today. The Life Aquatic was pretty good, not a whole lot to it but it was quite witty and touching in places. The Aviator was also pretty good, some good performances. I have The House Of Flying Daggers for later!

Yeah, they're really good. I guess you haven't seen the movie then, in fact the guy plays the songs live during the movie, so it's kind of lo-fi, acoustic, and in portuguese of course. I really recommend you both the movie and the soundtrack, which also has great songs by the Zombies, Devo, the Stooges and more. Oh, and that terrible song by Joan Baez but that's what the "next track" touch on your stereo is there for.

I recently watched:

- Le cercle rouge (for the 3rd time)/ J.P. Melville: pretty good

- The interpreter / Sidney Pollack: a good surprise, Sean Penn is brilliant like always

- My Uncle / J. Tati: excellent like always

- Wild At Heart (for the 5th time)/ D. Lynch: One of my favourite Lynch, Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern are amazing, this movie has the best happy end of the whole History of Cinema

- School of Rock: thought it was more funny, I'm disappointed

- L'annulaire / don't even remember the name of the director: want to see a bad french movie? go and see this one!

- Batman Begins / C. Nolan: not bad but not good

- L'oiseau au plumage d'argent (the first Dario Argento): not a masterpiece but it's a good first movie

- Charlie and the chocolate factory / T. Burton- I was disappointed by Big Fish, and I was expecting this would be the same for this one, but I must say that I was happily surprised by the result, even if it's not one of his best one. But it's a good surprise compared to Big Fish.

THE HOT SPOT - if Jennifer Connelly didn't get naked it'd have been a waste of 2 hours - instead it was a waste of 1 hour and 59 minutes.

Last night I watched:

A Cry In The Dark - very well acted true story with as much social relevence today as when released in '88, and when it occurred in '80.

Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind - other than memories of the Gong Show growing up in the 70's, and hearing in the 80's that he was schizophrenic, the life of Chuck Barris means nothing to me. The film was way out of left field, yet completely entertaining. Would be interesting if it were to be true.

Yeah, Homers, it was great! Vividly colourful, and wove romance and terrific fight sequences together beautifully. I think I prefared it to Hero, which was also great!

Just watched "Ramones: Raw."

Perhaps old or new floop can comment on the free-form filming or whatever it's called in cinematic circles. All I'll say is, you have to be a true fan to appreciate this movie. Or even sit thru it.

i do count myself as a true ramones fan but i just found dee-dee pissing me off more than usual (his solo "music" video is sooooo fuckin funny tho.) and the film is a bit boring in places aswell.

Has any1 seen end of the century? that was good if not tragic

Saw that movie, too. Very different films, indeed.

My fave part of Raw was Marky pooping. Or maybe the guy on the toilet was Marsist's beloved DeeDee? I forget.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how very cute CJ Ramone is?

And let's not mention his politics either. Instead, let's focus on CJ's long, bass-playing arms and skinny bod.

Oh, hi, floop! I am not sure what you film people call it, and maybe it doesn't have a name, but it was a bunch of out-of-order clips, random stuff, put together with unrelated interviews. No dialogue, no nothing. It was raw.

I just watched Gunner Palace and I highly recommened that all of you do, too.
It's a documentary about soldiers in Uday's former palace. That description doesn't do it justice. It's a great film, period. Watch it.

we film people have a name for that: "pretentious shite"

just kidding. yeah, i don't know, it sounds interesting. i guess that would fall into 'experimental' though it doesn't sound that crazy. if it's all about the Ramones then i guess it's just a documentary, if an unconventionally structured one.

i would file that under the 'unconventionally structured pretentious documentary' section

Nah, it wasn't pretentious. Just confusing. Hey, the band's chased by crazed Brazilian fans in 1998; now they're at sound check in Italy in 1983; back to Brazil, no Chile; now back to Italy.

Don't you film people call that lack of plot "wall-to-wall," or is that a porn term?

i've never heard the term "wall to wall"..

i can't comment on the film since i haven't seen it. it just sound like it's badly put together to me. unless they wanted you to feel confused and agitated

One great thing that they both had in common though.
