Watched Lost in Translation this weekend. During the first half I was thinking that it was pretty film but without much going on (and I absolutely love Bill Murray). But, by the end I thought it was a good movie. Memorable and I'm glad they didn't cop out with a typical plot. |

Yeah, my sister watched that yesterday and agrees with you!
I watched Team America during the week, it was hilarious in places. I think some critics focused to much on the politics, when in fact it was really intended as a Jerry Bruckheimer piss take!!
Saw Mean Creek yesterday, very good movie. It's obviously inspired by Deliverence, but it's quiet intelligently made, and is quiet sad and moving. Intended to see HitchHikers,a ctually, but missed it!! Also watched Blood From The Mummy's Tomb last week, a friend has some Hammer Movies on DVD. Even the dodgy Hammer films have that classy atmosphere! |

Magnolia and The Thin Red Line are among the most boring films I have ever seen. |

I don't think that The Thin Red Line can be described as "boring", IMO

THIN RED LINE.. i thought it was beautiful. i liked the fact that it didn't make complete sense, and was a little confusing.. my theory is that he is trying to convey how insane and confusing war is, by giving the film an open-ended structure; the film makes you feel disoriented, like how it would probably feel if you were a soldier in battle. |

Thin Red Line is not boring, it's great. If you want a boring movie I suggest Meet Joe Black. Now THIS is pushing the boundaries of boringness.

its been a while since i posted in this thread:
DO THE RIGHT THING - amazing - how did i miss this film for so long THE TRUCE (La Tregua) - good - another strong John Turturro performance THE AVIATOR - good - not one of Scorcese's best, but not a bad film. a great performance by Alan Alda, who i usually hate

Comme une image (Look At Me). Dir. Agnès Jaoui, 2004. 'A tale of four people who know exactly what they'd do if they were somebody else, but can't handle being themselves very well'. Great film in all possible respects. Actually the best French movie I've seen for a long time.

I went to see sin city and was breathless the whole way through, just sexy stylish gorgeous, it was beautiful to watch even with the comic book violence. I loved each of the mains, I loved the little stories, I loved the running commentary, I loved Clive Owen (natch) but Rourke was ace, and Willis is sweet as hell for a bad ass. And Elijah Wood is one scary wee bastard.
I hope that I will live to see you undress |

watched EDGEPLAY: A FILM ABOUT THE RUNAWAYS - it was ok - i'm not a huge fan of the band but always found their story interesting. i would hope the doc would make me want to go out and buy an album, but it really just made me realize how much of an asshole Kim Fowley is - the more i hear about him the more i hate that guy. its bad when one of his proteges says "i thought somebody was going to blow his brains out. someone still should; if one guy deserves it, its him"

Last night I saw Sin City. My eyes are satiated. Best thing I've seen in the cinema for a long time.
Mickey Rourke stole the movie in my opinion (though he looked disturbingly like someone special who still sometimes keeps me awake at night) |

As was I, though the Philip Glass soundtrack is good if you're in the right mood.

I watched it for a writing class in college and thought it was overly manipulative. Play some video in slow motion and put serene music behind it and it's a beautiful ballet and good. Speed it up and make the music more unsettling and it's chaos and bad. Blah. |

ADAPTATION is fantastic - one of my favorite films. it makes me so sad when Donald dies, even though he isn't real
last night i watched one of the dvds in the MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 VOLUME 5 set i got for my birthday. love MST3K. it was THE TOUCH OF SATAN which is a hillariously bad movie, and the skits in between were better than usual too. a soilid choice post-ballgame for a very hot night

I'm not a big fan of Charlie Kaufman but the whole subplot with Donald's screenplay is very funny. |

ADAPTATION was the best film of 2002 in my opinion. completely underrated and, i think, misunderstood |

because he doesn't really exist, and since the film is supposed to be 'true' he couldn't be walking around after it
