I watched Sideways on Saturday night which was very good. Perhaps not quite as good as some people have said but still very good. Despite knowing nothing about wine, I really enjoyed all the wine references. It was a nice touch.

I watched The Hills Have Eyes last night, which was a bit shit really. Kind of like The Secret Seven on a cannibal adventure, but with a much harder dog. Actually nothing much like that, but every bit as shit as that sounds.

I watched it last night and again today. I think it's pretty damn funny. Anyone else seen it?

It took me awhile to get into it but once I did I was dying laughing.

I was a litle dissappointed about the special features, they're interesting but short, less than an hour probably. But they do give you a great appreciation for how difficult and original it is to make a movie with marionettes, it's phenomenal how daunting a task it was. I think the reason I couldn't get into the movie at first is because I'd never seen anything like it.
but Their other dvds have far less specials so I guess it's better than nothing.

you'll love it mike

I just read a group of articles about it and I can now see why floop is not a big fan, it's a rather base and immature movie, but that's right up my alley and film expertise.

So Homer, if I were you, I would wait until in comes down in price before you buy it.

I bought Team America and was a bit disappointed. I laughed quite a bit when they where blowing the hell out of all these historic monuments around the world and weren't even phased by it but the rest wasn't all that clever.

that's kind of how i felt. there were some great moments.. the sex scene, and the vomit scene, the blow job scene..

but i thought it got kind of old after a while. also, i thought the movie lacked focus on what they were making fun of. i guess it's cool to just 'make fun of everything' but it sort of started out as this great critique of the the US government but then kind of fell apart, in my opinion.

but the theme song is priceless. i wish it had been nominated at the Academy Awards so they would have gotten to play it live

"Kick Ass Sea Bass!" May I use that expression, KOK,
and, of course, credit you?

Probably because I posted it directly from my desktop. Shutterfly is down. I'll try later. I can't take the credit for that one. Unlike Homer's Pet Monkey, I don't go around using other people's expressions while claiming them as my own.

Oh but you did just that, KOK, when you tried to pass
off as you own "angry," which I proved was uttered
in "Body Heat."

SHOCK CORRIDOR is great. Sir Rock, you never cease to impress me..

Sam Fuller makes a cool cameo in Jean Luc Godard's PIERROT LE FOU as an "american film director".. another film you should check out if you're going to set your film education standards as high as you are

Um? Excuse me. I thought we cleared up the confusion on that. Just because I pulled it out of the archives to use on a new audience doesn't mean I wasn't using it pre Body Heat days.

Guess what? I just did Ye Olde Forume Searche and
can safely state that while I did establish your trying to pass of
that expression as you own you did not establish having used it
pre-Body Heat.

Yep I'm not a big fan of Le Mépris myself.
Pierrot and A bout de souffle (breathless) are my faves.
Bande à part is also very good.
Eloge de l'amour is visually brilliant, tough quite boring.

i'm glad we've forget this truce. let's hope this is the beginning of new, long-lasting France/US relations..

A BAND APART is great too.. i just love the whole French New Wave thing in general.. there seemed to be so much comraderie in that movement. something lacking in most of todays trends..

In the process of watching my brand new box set of the sixties cult classic 'The Prisoner' starring Patrick McGoohan.

Weird as hell but intriguing enough to want keep watching

I just watched "In Good Company". I really enjoyed it, and I think Topher Grace has a bright future in film, but I hope he starts playing someone different than a grown up Eric Forman. I thought everyone acted really well, including Scarlett Johansen, who seemed so much different than woman she played in Lost In Translastion, without doing anything over the top different, like changing her voice or speech patterns. Very sweet and funny film, and Denis Quaid is excellent as well. Other than a few cliched lines at the end, I thought the dialogue was really well written, and very realistic.

I never really liked Magnolia. Perhaps I'm not a PT sorta guy, although I did enjoy Punch Drunk.

Over the weekend I watched:

My Own Private Idaho- Better than Elephant, but not amazing. When I saw Mysterious Skin, every review I read said to check this movie out. I suppose it was good enough to warrant another film by Gus.

The Aviator- Really fucking good. I though for a film that was three hours, there was nearly no drag at all. Beautiful film; possibly my favorite of last year.

Anchorman- Light movie. Didn't live up to the rep I had heard. Steve Carrel who I usually love was just plain dumb for the most part. Christina Applegate is pretty good looking though, so that sort of made up for it. I guess it was decent enough though for me to watch the other Anchorman movie.
