i know this is your topic and all, but the rules are kind of strict. maybe you could change it to "movies i watched last night" ??

the pressure of having to log on and write a review immediately after watching a movie is pretty high.

I'm watching "The Ninth Gate" right now, just finished a particularly hilarious fight scene involving Johnny Depp, some chick, and a demon. It involved some of the same high quality pseudo-ninja moves I used to practice in 6th grade.

I didn't rent it, it's on SciFi. So there. It was either that or Bridget Jones.

I saw Collateral a few months ago and wasn't too pleased with it. I thought that Jamie Foxx was its only redeeming character, Tom Cruise was marginal at best. It all sort of came together in the end, I suppose, and the ending did have its own merits, but all in all I didn't love it.

Tonight I watched a documentary on BBC2 called 'Tribe', with Bruce Parry. He stayed a month or so with some native Africans in Gabon and eventually went through their initiation ceremony.

That is HARDCORE.

OK I just watched The Butterfly Effect. Has anyone else seen it? I didn't expect that at all, I thought it was going to be OK but I really liked it. If you haven't seen it then you may want to look away now (oh you already are).

What a really sad ending. I was welling up. OK I am gonna watch Blue Velvet in a short while 'cos it's on the TV (i, Robot can wait 'til tomorrow). Is Blue Velvet good?

I loved Blue Velvet, and I'm not a huge Lynch fan. Hopper is ace.

SHIT! Now I'm watching porn disguised as science. Tre, turn on Channel 4 quick. What is this?

Shit too late it's gone. I just checked and it was called Anatomy For Beginners. It had a woman stark naked, stood in the studio in front of everyone. I've never seen such filth (owww my nose).

It's the plastination guy, from the bodyworlds exhibition fame, with the daft hat, he has a series using real people and dead people to show how anatomy works. My housemate was really impressed at the lung inflation/deflation and was going on about how cool it was until I started telling her my "when I worked in an operating theatre I saw a...." stories. Then she went green.

Yeah that was what was really impressing me. Yeah the lungs. Hmmm.

Anyway I watched Blue Velvet and I really enjoyed it. Much easier to follow and understand that Mullholland Drive, that's for sure.

I watched SHOAH, a long documentary by Claude Lanzmann. It started at 9:00 PM and when I went to bed at 3:00 AM it wasn't over yet.
I almost cried many times.

I saw the first 2 hours of it and yeah, it was hard to watch.

Yesterday I watched the beginning of what looked like the worst movie ever. Was called "Practical Magic", starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, and it was so bad I thought I was in a plane watching the Inflight Entertainment program.

i thought Tom Cruise was the best part of the film.. i wasn't crazy about the digital photography. i saw it at the Cinedome in Hollywood (which is this gigantic screen) and i didn't think it looked that good.

also, the ending was SO predictable (with TC on the subway).. but, i like Michael Mann's films.. i'll go see something he puts out

yesterday i went to see HOTEL RWANDA with my mom.

Don Cheadle is amazing and the film is powerful.. but despite being a true story, the way they fictionalized it in the film, at times, was hard to believe..

still, poignant film. makes me realize how ridiculously spoiled we are

Tonight I watched The Evil Dead, having never seen it before.

Several observations: firstly, you know you're onto a winner when you find yourself thinking, 'ooh, he's gonna regret not hacking up his girlfriend with that chainsaw'.

Secondly, this is far and away the goriest film I have ever seen.

Finally, I found a lot of the cinematography very interesting - for example, the 'following' camera style, and especially the shot where it starts with Ash upside down and pans over his head. Also, I thought the sound was superb.

Overall, i loved it. Quality movie.

Today I watched a bunch of scenes from Coffee and Cigarettes, which I saw for the first time this past summer. I like watching bits of the movie, perhaps one or two conversations every once in a while. Today I watched the Iggy/Tom Waits scene, the RZA/GZA/Bill Murray Scene, and the Alfred Molina/Steve Coogan scene. I really like that movie a lot. I truly squirm at a bunch of the dialogue (especially Molina's character, Molina) and laugh out loud at others. I need to see some other Jarmusch films. Any reccomendations?

I agree with your feelings about Tom, I thought he was good. But then I enjoyed the whole film. Just finished watching it now. American Psycho has just started so I gotta go. I have seen it before but I thought I may as well watch it again 'cos Christian Bale makes me laugh as Patrick Bateman.

This afternoon I watched i,Robot and it was OK. Some cheesy moments, could have done without Will Smith, but entertaining none the less.

OK, American Psycho has finished now. How the hell Christian Bale didn't win Best Actor at the Oscars that year I'll never know. Amazing performance.

Tomorrow I am gonna watch The Station Agent. I'll let you know how that goes.

Tre, we tend to disagree a lot, so this doesn't surprise me. To be fair though, I wasn't overly impressed with it the first time round, and even this time I still much prefer the book. However, Mr Bale does play Mr Bateman perfectly. That much is true.

The book is a million times better than the movie obviously. But I indeed liked Bale's performance. The scene where he's having the girl from behind and watches himself in the mirror and checks his biceps is priceless. And I liked the fact that they added a lot of humour to the movie cause the book is hilarating at times (not when you read it the first time though).

OK I'm gonna confess something now. I think I haven't seen the Evil Dead entirely. I think I saw the first half and some parts of the second one. Shame on me. For some reason my wife doesn't like zombie movies, I downloaded Dawn Of The Dead 2 years ago and we still haven't seen it. I love zombie movies.
