I just watched the film Holes. Good, I guess. Entertaining for a family-type movie.

I TiVp-ed The Triplettes of Belleville and Dawn of the Dead. Not sure which I'll watch tonight.

Oh, and last night I watched Welcome to the Dollhouse again. Great great movie.

I just watched Immortal, and as a Bilal fan, I liked it a lot, the girl with blue tears and hair!

I feel like a completely different person

be said again.

floop was right

I just watched Sidweways and in many ways
it was superior to Million $ Baby and
Paul Giamatti (sp?) shoulda won an
Oscar.

Word, Brian! Can you give me any insight about the title
beyond the fact that wine should be stored
sideways?

Sideways was good but I don't think it was better than Million $ Baby.

Million Dollar Baby was very good but I think (not sure though) that Aviator was better.

Aviator was pretty good but nowhere as great as The Life Aquatic which remains my fave movie this year.

Yesterday I watched The World Is Not Enough. Better than Tomorrow Never Dies, but the bad Bond girl (French actres Sophie Marceau) acted really bad. The good Bond girl (Denise Richards) was quite bad too but that wasn't a problem cause she spent the ending scene in a sinking submarine (i.e. wet) with a white tank top. Denise Richards=good.

i watched the people vs. larry flynt last night, which i have to say was very good. all day today i've been plagued by the urge to stuff a bunch of food in my mouth and run around screaming "althea!" courtney love used to have quite a set on her.

They're fake, as I am sure you guessed. Curt
gave them to her as a present. Me, I got a book
for my last birthday and last Christmas.

no, she got them after he died. he was anti-boob job. i think she had a few new noses while he was still kickin' around, though.

anywhoo, they were good fakes, though a bit far apart if you ask me.

I swear I read a Vanity Fair cover story in the mid 90s in which
she said that he gave them to her as a present before
he died. (Not that this matters.)

i saw EROS the other night.. kind of disappointing. i like all 3 directors (it's 3 short films), but none of these did much for me (Wong Kar Wai's was the best though).

thinkin' of going to this double-feature tomorrow night:

Well, the twist is exposed in the end, but there were a couple of little bits where I thought, hang on why is so and so doing that. I can't even remember the bits.

(Sorry, I'm breaking the rules, I did'nt watch 'em the night before!!)

the other night i watched BIG NIGHT, which was written/directed by stanley tucci and campbell scott, and stars tucci, tony shaloub, ian holm (who steals the film), minnie driver and isabella rosellini. i loved this film. a small, personal tale of immigrant brother restaurant owners, trying to make it. ian holm was amazing in it - "you fucking guys!" classic stuff.

plus it made me HUNGRY! the timpano looked delish

Never mind. It is a fantastic film though. I am just surpised so few people seem to have heard of it. It got great reviews over here when it came out late last year. I didn't see one bad review, not even mediocre.

i saw LOST HIGHWAY again the other night, on the big screen. Barry Gifford (who co-wrote it with Lynch) did a talk afterwards.. it was quite a treat.

i'm endlessly impressed with David Lynch's use of sound

i watched three films this weekend:

CLOSER - good performances, but as my friend said "all it talks about is SEX - but where is the sex?" i enjoyed it though - its funny, me and ms. broken face totally disagreed on who the bigger bastards are - those whose crimes are sexual, and those whose crimes involve trust. i say trust, she said sex. i guess she's fucking around (kidding). plus Natalie Portman looks great in it.

HOTEL RWANDA - nothing spectacular, but an extremely great performances from Don Cheadle.

JANDEK ON CORWOOD - if you're at all familiar with Jandek, i would recommend this film. you get to hear the audio of Jandek's only interview ever given, plus some nice analysis (especially by Calvin Johnson). it was filmed before his first ever live performance, so there is a lot more mysticism discussed than if it were filmed now, after confirmation of certain facts (ie. that Jandek is the guy on the album covers, that the same person plays the guitar and sings, etc)

Ghost Dog. Coming from someone who considers themselves a pretty decent Jarmusch fan, I must say I was disappointed. His last work I saw was Dead Man, which I thought was spectacular. Ghost Dog was by no means bad. I just found it a bit slow, and lacking some of the elements that have made me really enjoy his other movies.
