I watched Riding Giants again over lunch.

I'm not proud of myself.

Night On Earth - Must be the film showing the most cigarettes smoked ever.

Jules et Jim - It took me a while to get into this one but I really enjoyed it in the end. It must've been an impressive film way back when it was released, exploring the possibility of a relationship involving three persons. I cannot think of another film I've seen tackling this issue. Many beatifully shot scenes.

Night Of The Living Dead - Great fun, I just wonder why they didn't just run for it. Those zombies were terribly slow, no way they'd catch you.

How about Stanley Kubrick doing American Psycho. He could direct it from the grave.

Oooo, I like the idea of Kubrick directing from the grave.
If anybody could pull that off, it's Stan.

Shockingly, I just watched a movie. "Dodge ball."
Hi-larious. Gonna go turn on ESPN 8 now, you know,

Kubrick could direct better from the grave than some living directors

i've watched a bevy of films since last posting in this thread:

sour grapes - larry david's only jump into hollywood was pretty disappointing - some funny moments, but i felt the acting was subpar

drop dead gorgeous - only rented it b/c a former member of THE STATE directed it, and it wound up being surprisingly funny. lots of well placed explosions

maria full of grace - very highly recommended. scary in such a real way

club dread - not as good as super troopers, but still had its moments. "if you want to fun-fucking arrest me, you'll need a fun-fucking warrant!"

finding neverland - sappy, but decent. great depp performance, as always

sin city - WOW. knocked me on my ass. excellent. true to the comics, visually stunning, well acted. elijah wood was fucking CREEPY. best film of '05 so far

-Brian

OOH I agree with you on Sin City. Ohh I am never going to look at Mr. Wood the same way. Great acting job.

Yes that flick was phenominal. We saw it last nite. Got to the theatre about 25 minutes before showtime... and there was already a huge line waiting to get in.

Bruce Willis did an amazing job.

Haven't read the comics... but I definately did like the direction, script, action and lighting. Wow!

Also I did like the way women were portrayed in it... they could be be stong, and independent yet feminine.

It really makes me want to check out the comics, and I have never really read comics before!

Ok upstairs neigbor is blasting some really bad R&B stuff-- gotta blow this popsicle stand.

I too saw a veritable bevy of films this weekend.

Sin City- Thought the first fifteen minutes were weak, but really picked up with Mickey Rourke's story.

Gangs of New York- Never saw it before, and really enjoyed it. Now I'm really looking forward to finally seeing the Aviator.

Welcome to the Dollhouse- Seen it a bunch of times before, but I always appreciate something new each time I see it. I just found out that the guitarist in my friend's older brother's band is an extra in the film. Like any of you care.

Then I also saw some movie on Saturday morning on Comedy Central, who's name eludes me. It was a sort of typical eighties comedy. Fifteen year old kid goes to college. Gets made fun of and beat up. His final revenge: Shoot a laser into the house of one of his professors, filling the house with popcorn. Like I said, typical.

I just saw Sin City last night too.

I thought it was really good but do have a bit of mixed feelings.
I always think that when you mix the sex and violence in the way that movie does.

So, is Frank briefly in Sin City?

Shockingly I just watched a movie, an anxiety-provoking
little French film called Feux Rouges/Red Lights.
Kinda scary and edgy but the protagonist annoyed the
hell out of me. I might post a pic of the female lead
in the Pix of Beautiful Women thread.

I watched Napoleon Dynamite again. Turns out I find it really, really funny. It helps to spend a few weeks with people who qoute it a lot, all reminding you of the funny bits, then watching it with said people. Some of it is just really funny. Like pretty much anytime Kip says ANYTHING.

I just finiished watching Oldboy and oh my god what a fantastic film. Asian cinema is just so good right now, and this has to be the best I have seen yet. The twist is just breathtaking. I thought it was a good film before that but after it, things just get even better. Absolutely fan-fucking-tastic!

Great sound track too, I must buy it!

I watched Invasion Of The Body Snatchers on Friday night. It was the one from the 70's with Donald Sutherland and it was absolutely brilliant. I had only ever watched the more recent one before.

Apparantly they are remaking it again. It will be out next year. They won't be able to get anyone as beautiful as Brooke Adams to be in it though.
