Army of Darkness is much better, this one isn't funny at all (and obviously it isn't remotely scary). I am at a loss to find anything that explains why it is considered a classic.

I'm in there too.
Things like the vine scene in the first evil dead are completely unnecessary and detrimental.

I really would like to hear from someone who thinks it's genius (perhaps you Kitty?), to find out why. It's not funny enough to be genius, not scary enough, doesn't have a good enough story, good enough acting, good enough special effects. NOTHING about it stands out. Certianly not to grant it classic status.

Watched Motorcycle Diaries over the week-end. It has been discussed in this forum and I agree with everyone who said it was good.

Just finished watching Kill Bill Volume 2 on DVD. I'm kicking myself for missing out on seeing this one in the cinema.

I just watched Bad Lieutenant. Now THAT'S why I wanted to be a police officer as a kid.

Seriously though, good film, Harvey Keitel is fantastic in it.

last night i watched the documentary 'metallica: some kind of monster' - i really do not like metallica, but i find it fascinating to watch one of the world's most successful bands almost self destruct. and i found the guys who auditioned to be their bass player were interesting: eric avery (ex-jane's addiction), scott reeder (ex-kyuss), and then the typical metal fare (twiggy ramirez, robert trullijo, that dude from the cult).

Yes, I saw the Metallica documentary recently and thought it was very interesting too...did you ever suspect it was a gimmick for a band that didn't know how to sell its product anymore?

funny, at times i did feel that way. and if its true, it worked. as much as i hate metallica and their music, i half wanted to buy the album just so i could hear the songs that came out of that period.

i used to love them when i was in jr. high but i've lost most of my taste for 'heavy' bands - although every now and then something will really get me excited. and i guess i really like stoner rock, and that is heavy. oh well, i guess i just don't like them

I just watched Carlito's Way: very good film. I have to hand it to De Palma, that is the way to crank tension. The final half-hour between the club and Grand Central via the subway, absolutely superb.

Excellent acting also. It's usually very difficult to fault Al Pacino, and he's brilliant again here. Sean Penn and John Leguizamo also, as per usual, very good.

Excellent movie.

Maybe I'll try again tonight.

Yes i totally understand.

And whilst I started off having issues with certain band members by the end of the film i found myself liking them all - geeez, am I a sucker or what? ;)

Phantom Of The Paradise is missing in your list, THS. And Femme Fatale. And Scarface. And...
But yeah, the end of Carlito's Way is stunning. The scene at the beginning in the bar is awesome too.
