I'm sure they've all been discussed already, but this weekend I saw Napolean Dynamite, Life Aquatic and The Incredibles. I thought ND was very so-so. It had some funny moments, but was mostly boring. The funny moments were funny though. Life Aquatic was great because Wes Anderson and Bill Murray (and the rest of the cast) are great. The look and feel of the film was wonderfull. I found the pacing a bit slow, but it's a joy to just look at. Incredibles was terrific and thoroughly entertaining. "My God you've gotten fat" is the line of the year from a very memorable character. |

I put Dodgeball on my Amazon rental list, but I am not sure if I should have bothered now. Is it really that bad?

dodgeball is funny at times, but to me is a subpar comedy
last night i watched true romance (which i hadn't seen in years) and shaolin soccer, which i thought was hillarious and really fun to watch. today i plan on (finally, i've had it since mid-january) watching wild at heart.

I was thinking about Wild At Heart the other night when I was watching Leaving Las Vegas. I always get them mixed up. It's a good film as I remember.
Looking forward to seeing Shaolin Soccer now.

The Breakfast club just finished. I remember how good that film is, and how Allison is pretty much my perfect woman.
This place reminds me of The Breakfast Club.

Well Homer, if this the breakfast club, who's who? Like which forum member matches with each character?

Good question. I wasn't meaning in such a specific way, I just just meant a group of quite different people from varied backgrounds, locked together in a room, discussing their problems, arguing, forming friendships. I guess it would be interesting if anyone does have a theory on who could be each character specificly.

Anyone in Maths club? Which one was Allison, the stuck-up ginge or the dandruffed alternative type?

Molly Ringwald was the princess type. I'm guessing we would be over-represented in the Anthony Michael Hall (geeky), Judd Nelson (rebel), and Ally Sheady categories. Any Emilio Esteves (jock types) out there? |

I'll be the janitor. Always here, the 'eyes and ears' of the forum. I guess the principal will have to be whoever tells people off the most. Who is always on people's backs?

Just watched Kill Bill Vol.1, I haven't seen it since it was in cinemas. I vaguely remember a pretty mixed response to the film on release, but I don't know why. I think its excellent, almost poetic in parts. Very homage-nous (made up word! Ace!) but it adds to the charm.
I have KB2 to watch over the weekend, which I haven't seen yet.

Yeah I think I will watch one of my rental films tonight, make a change from seeing films that I have already seen too. Now am I in the mood for sick horror, thriller or thrilling Japanese action horror?

I just watched Fargo. This film is considered a classic isn't it? No way. It's OK, but far from a classic The acting was good (especially Macey), except for the really annoying pregnant cop, her character was just very annoying. And is everyone from that part of the world a moron? And do they all talk as though they and everyone around them is slow?
It's based on a true story, yet they seemed like they tried to turn it into a comedy. not a very funny one though. It didn't seem to show much respect to the dead (as claimed at the start).
By the way, I assume that money turned up eventually. Was it ever reported in real life?

Oh man, Mike, you're breaking my heart. I don't really feel like defending Fargo, and I'm sure that there are plenty of forumers here who would love to, but that is one of my favorite flicks by the Coens. Right up there with Lebowski and Blood Simple.
I rented a bunch of movie to take on my vacation to Aspen next week. I've got Elephant, Mean Creek, City of God (Cidade de Deus), and a few others that I can't think of right now. Going to be a great week.

City Of God is indeed fantastic.
I knew that pointing out my gripes about Fargo was not gonna be popular, but I am just being honest. Perhaps it was 'cos I was expecting a classic I don't know, but either way I would have found that cop extremely annoying.
Like I said though, it wasn't a bad film obviously, but it just wasn't a classic for me.

City Of God was incredibly good yes and I would love to watch it again but I don't know if I can stomach that scene where they shoot the little kid's foot. That was horrific.
Fargo is bloody terrific. I saw it without knowing much about the film and it blew me away. It might've just caught you in the wrong mood Homer.
I'm seeing Sideways tomorrow or the day after. Talking about huge expectations.

Possibly offerw, but the more I think about it the more I think I will only ever like it as a good film, and never see it as the classic that so many do. TO be fair, I have done a bit of research and it does appear that opinion is divided with the public on this one.

Cidade de Deus was a movie that I enjoyed a lot, and it's even better, and most of you won´t understand that, to listen in our language, the way the brazilians speak is very funny, they have a lot of funny expressions that makes the dialogs even better. I've been in a place like that, visiting only, and it's really scary!
